I think it's his first settler. Not positive.

Deny is the primary objective. I'd rather not throw the game away in a protracted ancient war.
If he runs, I'll follow him a bit to make sure he doesn't settle too close. He can maneuver until he can get an axe to reinforce the warrior, at which point I'll likely abandon the pursuit.

That said, I would not mind having a second capital...
Fimi's power graph says he does not have any axes built yet, but he IS in slavery.

Apenimon has an axe in the field about 7 tiles to my east, so that's a potential concern. For now I'll assume it's just fogbusting. But when he sees the war declaration, he may decide to join in on one side or the other. His scout (3N of my axe) can see Fimi's settler, so he'll know what is going on.

I think my warrior in Fowler is going to go look at Fimi's copper.

His settler ran.
Can't see it, chasing anyway. My axe moves 7 (NW), will move N onto the hill next turn.

My scout (already injured) survived a lion attack to my east with single digit hitpoints left. It makes it to 5xp, and hides under apenimon's axe.

AH is in.

I offered fimi a ceasefire, as I can't see his settler any more.

My c1 spot is an even better plant now. need a border pop to get the horses still though.
The spot to my SE is also possible, again I need culture to get both it and the cow (which will make a sad city, but if you need the resource you need the resource)
I can never remember what 3rd ring covers (from my cap), and the water messes it up even more, so not sure if I get the horses that way. Don't think so.
Guess I'll find out on T51 when I hit 100 culture.

Deer worker will road the tile (for fast access to the hills north of that if I go aggressive).
both workers come back towards cap, for pigs, road to C1, and cows for C1, in an order to be determined.

How the heck did I miss this until now?  It's not like I haven't been looking at the turn summary.
Nils was at war with Fimi before me even.

Anyway, fimi's copper isn't hooked yet.
Fimi took the ceasefire, but it's not going to save him.
nils has a warrior in Fimi's territory (in the dress). It is uninjured.

Yeah.  I'm hitting that.

43 moves NE, my warrior moves NW.
77&75 move 7+9 to 2n of Fowler (on the deer road the worker will complete)
50 (unlabeled axe S of Fowler) moves into Fowler, Fowler whips axe 99.

T49. Warrior attempts move N to occupy the copper, or copper defended, will step onto the flat and try to cut the road.
73&75 move N. 43 moves to where Fimi's warrior is now, or 1e of that. 50&99 follow one move behind 73&75.

Thats 5 axes and a warrior. Fimi's power had a tiny jump. I didn't check the numbers, but probably just another warrior. I've lost graphs on Nils, EPs redirected there. 2t to get them back. No idea what his power looks like. I think it was still fairly low a couple turns ago, indicating this is a warrior choke, but I'm not sure.

Meanwhile Blaine 2-whips settler on T50, which will take the c1 spot 2S of horses. Scout has run home, it will screen for barbs. Blaine has a spear partially completed, can be whipped at need.

I'd like to stack all 4 axes from Fowler together, but keeping that copper unhooked dictates speed instead. They'll go in pairs.

I turned research back off after the screenshot, I'll need some of the cash for unit supply.

Fimi's settler did an end run around me.

It settled, just a little farther out.

Declared and pushed an axe and the warrior in.

Oops, fumbled the shot of the units. He has his starting archer, and 3 warriors. A couple are injured, but they will be healed before I get all 5 axes there.

he's got another settler, completely unescorted, to his east. (on the tundra woods e-ne of his copper).
My warrior will step on his copper next turn, but his worker ran away anyway. It will pillage the copper.
And then it will chase that eastern settler. He might have a screening warrior out there, but if it's empty I'll burn that one too.
Actually, upon writing the bottom half of this post, nevermind. Warrior will head to the capital after pillaging. I might need it to cleanup a badly wounded unit.

Whipped the spear in my cap. Adjusted tiles (I'm -1 food this turn) to put another axe out the following turn with the overflow.
My settler can't settle anyway, spot is invalid until I burn his new city.
So axe+spear will walk over there and burn that too.

When I get my axes to his capital.
He could have archery.. In which case I stall out.
If he has a bunch of warriors.
First axe attacks. It has about a 50% chance to get the archer down below 48hp. If the archer stays above 48hp, next axe hits the archer again.
If the archer drops below 48hp, the warriors move to the top of the stack (assuming fully healed and fortified).
So. 1st axe lightly wounds archer and dies. 2nd axe hits it hard (below 48hp) and dies. Axes 3,4,5 kill warriors at 78%.
Next turn 3 axes take CR1 and hit again.

Worst reasonable-odds case (without him hitting archery). I spend 3 axes getting his archer below the threshold to hit it, without killing it. Then there is no point in attacking his warriors, as I can't kill enough of them, and his archer will promo-heal the next turn. So my axes just choke him eternally while I do other things.

Derkaul has axes as well. Power graph looks like only one though.
I have 5 on the way. 1+2+2

Fimi's unescorted settler met a bark-bark-nom-nom. This fills my heart with joy.

I'll have to worry a bit about Derkaul sniping the last unit. Shouldn't be too bad though.

My warrior will pillage copper, then move to the rice.

Fimi has 4 warriors and his starting archer now.

My food dip is whipping both cities, plus I didn't use my fish tile for on T48 (worked all 3 mines - needed the hammers to 1t the axe on overflow).
This turn I work fish, copper, green mine instead of the silver, costing me 5 commerce to get that 1 extra hammer, producing the axe at the flip exactly.

Research is still on cash. I've got supply costs to pay, and they are about to get worse (another 2gpt) when the axe+spear combo heads for the new city.
I think I can turn it on next turn. Question is archery or pottery. I'm leaning towards archery.

Pillage gold will help, but it's random.
Capture gold isn't guaranteed yet, so I'm not counting that.

My axe+spear pair will be a turn late, fimi's new city will be at 20% culture. Shouldn't matter though. It can manage a 2nd warrior, but nothing else in that time.
Top warrior. 2 +95% -50% axe. 2+45% vs 5. 5 vs 2.9, 96%. Spear vs 10% fort second warrior goes 68%.

What will you need the archers for?

I have no idea.
Apenimon seeing I'm in a war and sending his own axes my way, maybe.
My copper is on his side of my land. He's scouted that tile, so he knows that. He had an axe a few tiles away last I saw it. Standing that axe on my copper puts me in the same shitty situation Fimi is in now.
His power is lower than mine, but all mine are off on an expedition.

I change my mind about every 5 minutes. Which is why I'm still saving cash. Should probably just build another axe and fortify it on my copper while I go for granaries. It's better for picking off barbs as well, which are about to be a problem with that giant swath of empty land to my south.
