I would be surprised if the river thing is an issue, but if worse comes to worse, we could probably capture the city and liberate it to you. It would be much better if you capture it, though, as that would keep more buildings and pop intact. Also, we aren't sure on the rule legality of liberating, so that would need to be sorted out.
The tundra cities are falling quickly. One fell this turn, the other will fall next turn. So all that will remain is you recapturing Huron River, and they will be gone. This is why I don't expect them to leave Huron River next turn, but I've been wrong before. smile
Also just so you know: I will have limited internet access the next few days. I will most likely have a teammate handle things if you need a quick response. Hopefully this won't be an issue, and we'll still be able to communicate quickly and smoothly.
Thanks!

Rememebr we have a catapult to contribute, so if you want it to go first, just give the word. In addition, we have 5 spears, 3 dog soldiers, and 4 archers than can attack.
Cheers! Beta

Sorry I could not stay on-line to watch the fun ;ast night. And many many thanks for killing off the Germans! Our great luck continued. Our first dog soldier, attacking at 99% odds, lost. That is the third 99% battle we lost this war. Lucky in love I guess. :dunno:
The second dog soldier won.
I paused the game as you have not finished your turn. 35 or so minutes left on the clock.

Hey MZ. Got a second?
MZ
hi, yes
scooter
Do you guys still want to confirm the treaty against civic and religion swap spy missions?
I hadn't heard anything from you about it since we last talked. we both more or less agreed about it, but it would be nice to get it official
MZ
yes,I agree.. it is my sentiment.. did not ask my team, but i don't think they would object, I will ask them anyway and we can make it official in a few days, till then we will not use it
scooter
Okay. If you'd like I can send you guys an email officially promising we will not use them against you, and if your team is OK with it you can reply that you have "signed" it too. does that work?
MZ
sure
scooter
Ok. do you know any other teams that are interested in agreeing with us?
MZ
i did not talk about this anyone else.. I wanted at some point, it just was not actual
scooter
ok no problem. I think I will talk with CivPlayers and CFC about it and see if they would like to agree with us. does that sound good to you?
MZ
yes
scooter
ok great, thanks!
MZ
you can tell them that we are willing to agree with anyone on these terms
scooter
ok will do

Had a quick chat with Yossarian from CFC about the NAP situation:
Chat with CFC Wrote:scooter
Hey Yossarian. Any word on your team's feeling on the NAP proposal?
couple people have asked me if there's been any updates, so I just wanted to check in
YossarianLives
Hi scooter
We're running a poll on it right now, actually
scooter
oh nice, glad to hear it. A couple teammates were anxious to hear the result, but I figured you were still discussing/voting
YossarianLives
Yeah, I hope to be able to get back to you by the end of the week
Seems like turns are really dragging right now
So, are you eliminating the Germans this turn, or are we waiting until the next turn?
I laughed so hard when I saw they succeeded in capturing a WPC city
scooter
check it out: http://www.civstats.com/viewgame.php?gameid=2416
they have been eliminated officially. so that should speed things up
YossarianLives
Oh good. And I'm happy to see that WPC got to put in the finishing blow. Good for them
scooter
yeah, we had to clear their old city for them so they could recapture hah
but it seems fitting for them to finish it off
YossarianLives
Were those all German GG's killed?
scooter
yeah we killed 3 of them this turn I think
YossarianLives
Out in the field? It looked like they only had a couple units in that last northern city. Unless they moved some in at the start of this turn
scooter
oh no, they had the GGs in the WPC they captured.
kiled them there
YossarianLives
lol, so you killed the defenders, but let WPC capture the city?
scooter
yep
we had to, city gifting is banned
YossarianLives
I guess that's the way you had to do it, since city gifting is banned
Yeah
And it was their city to start with, lol
scooter
Plus it lets them keep more building intact
YossarianLives
So now I guess we see how the war spoils got divided. You got to keep all German land and lots of promos on your troops. WPC got...to keep their own city at the cost of their entire army
Congratulations! Not too bad for you guys
scooter
I think they would have been more successful if they had followed our tactical advice...
It works out fine for us, but all we cared about was finishing the war as fast as possible.
YossarianLives
What advice did they ignore?
<PB14 chatter>
scooter
Well, I'll put it this way. The war started on T150, and they didn't launch any attacks til I think T154 or so. They wandered around in their territory a bit which jsut gave the German team time to whip elephants and longbows
<PB14 chatter>
So they have a poll for it now, so we should hear back pretty soon. Also, it's been 5-6 days since the original proposal, so that's not actually that long. I got into the WPC a bit because I wanted to pre-emptively squash the idea that it we unfairly treated WPC, but rather they dug their own grave.

I went ahead and sent that official proposal to Apolyton, incorporating a tweak similar to what Boldly suggested about tying up the obvious loophole:
RB Wrote:MZ,
Here is our official "signing" of the EP agreement, and if/when your team is willing to officially agree, let me know and we can confirm it. I'm also going to contact others about it too. Let me know if you have any comments or questions!
* All those who sign this agreement promise to never use civic or religion swap spy missions or directly help another civ use civic or religion swap spy missions against any other team that signs this agreement for the remainder of the game. This agreement will remain in effect regardless of whether the teams that sign this agreement are at war or peace with each other, and it is fully independent of all other deals.

If you guys agree, we'll start doing work on getting other teams to agree. The more the better.

So I saw OT4E of CivPlayers online, so I decided to try my luck on the civic/religion swap stuff. Emphasis mine.
Chat with CivPlayers Wrote:scooter
Hey OT4E, got a quick question for you if you have a minute?
OT4E
hi
i will try to give you quick answer if i can
scooter
hey. I was talking with MZ from Apolyton, and we are making an agreement to never use civic/religion swap spy missions against each other for the rest of the game. We both think they are kind of unfair missions
and we'd like to try to include more teams in the deal
do you think that's something you would be interested in agreeing to? 10:19 AM
OT4E
i remember that somebody tried to apply this to the rules
not sure who exactly
but probably it failed
scooter
we pushed for it pre-game, but it got voted down, but MZ suggested we make an agreement out of it
that we'll never use it even if we are at war or peace
OT4E
I need to discuss it with my team
you know now we have more espionage points on you, so this will be like a favor from our side for right now
but in general I agree that this is a not completely fair.
scooter
Yeah I understand. Apolyton is in the same boat in that they have more EPs on us, but it was their idea to at least rule that one out
OT4E
may be because they have same civics as you
scooter
but I do generally believe those missions aren't very fair. I"m sure you guys will do some tech stealing with those EPs anyway
hah, yeah for now!
OT4E
did you discuss this with WPC?
scooter
I haven't yet, but we might do that next
they don't even have alphabet so they can't do a whole lot with spies just yet hah
OT4E
why not?
you can gift them spies
share some money and here it is
scooter
that's true, yeah
OT4E
for us it will be mandatory to have them in this agreement
scooter
Ok. I believe I can convince them to agree
OT4E
and what do you think about "peaceful civic swaps" when both team agrees to?
scooter
You know, I'll run that by my team
I tend to think it would be fine if both teams agree to it. It's a little exploit-y in my opinion, but it's not THAT bad and you still have to pay for it
what's your opinion on that - think it's okay?
OT4E
yes I dont mind
scooter
yeah. I think I agree. the point of this was more to avoid things turning into an EP arms race, so I don't think that's a big problem
Anyway, if you don't mind, check with your teammates, and I'll run it by WPC
OT4E
ok
scooter
thanks!
OT4E
np
Ok so I need to talk WPC into it for them to agree. He does need to discuss with his team, but overall this sounds extremely promising!

about switching, I have just discussed it with our co-captain.
We agree to enter your agreement if you bring WPC in. For "peaceful swapping" we have nothing against.

Okay great. I will talk with WPC.

RB Wrote:Beta/Tatu,
Hey guys, so we wanted to talk to you about a couple things. First, we want to supply you guys with resources long-term so you can grow your cities further. What's your health and happy cap at in your biggest cities? I talked with the team, and they've agreed with me that we should gift you any excess resources we have if you're at either cap. I hope that helps you jump-start growth on your cities. While you didn't add land horizontally, this way you can grow significantly vertically which is a great way to increase your teching ability. We have enough resources to support your cities quite a bit. Does that sound good to you?
The other thing I wanted to talk about was including you on an agreement. We've been talking with a couple of our neighbors, and we are interested in mutually agreeing to never use civic/religion swap espionage missions on each other in a hostile manner for the remainder of the game, regardless of peace/war/etc. We all feel they are kind of a cheap trick, and we'd like to add you into the agreement if you are interested. As of right now, it would be our team, your team, CivPlayers, and Apolyton. We hope we can add others going forward. So if you join, you would have full immunity on those two EP missions from all 3 teams for the remainder of the game (and any that join the agreement in the future), as long as you promised not to do it to them too. Let me know if you're interested.
Thanks,
