Spears are already in position. Aaannd it's time for my double-report:
So I took all the advice I could, but some alternate decisions did have to be made.
Here was the situation just before ending turn 54 (note this was the turn Mouquet Farm was settled, then HAK ended turn and landed the Hanging Gardens for +1 pop everywhere, then I played the rest of my turn and took this picture):
Destroyer of Everyone healed in place.
Verrieres Ridge completed its axe with 7 overflow and grew into unhappiness.
Courcelette double-dry-whipped a spear with 9 overflow as I was advised and grew into unhappiness.
Juno Beach single-whipped the spear with exact hammers as planned.
Here I broke with everyone's advice. Calcar Ridge could indeed double-whip the granary, but the overflow would not have been near enough to complete the spear as everyone was assuming (sorry, I should have laid out the values better). I double-whipped the spear instead as I had planned. You'll see the results for the granary below.
Okay, I'll actually split this up into two posts since it's rather large. Turn 55 coming right up!

This turn we spotted the Commodorian chariot (note it's from the western civ) and I moved Destroyer of Everyone like so:
Commodore could have been cleverer with his workers and got the drop on it like WarriorKnight did to HAK's, but I guess he just wanted to push ahead quickly and do whatever he's intending to do.
Here are those spears we popped out last turn. I didn't move either, but I was wondering what everyone thought about parking the southern one where indicated to provide zone defence on the city and its resources. I'd also like the nothern worker to road 1SW of Juno Beach so its spear can also respond rapidly to chariot incursions.
And to complete the panorama, here are the reinforcements moving up from the rearward cities. The unhappiness in Verrieres Ridge and Courcelette coupled with the fact the spears are already out in the western cities prompted me to take this opportunity to convert to Hinduism as HAK suggested. The city shots that follow are from before the revolution, though, so obviously Verrieres Ridge and Courcelette each have one additional citizen that can be assigned as we wish, and all cities' builds can be changed without loss of hammers:
Another axe as shown?
Exact hammers on the axe ...
Granary, I presume?
Note the chop and mine finishing next turn (the granary's at 9/40 hammers right now, by the way). Now, how exactly do I do the avoid-growth trick here? Just turn it on the turn the city's supposed to grow and the granary finish?
I won't bother with the two small cities again; not much has changed there. Here, lastly, is the power graph:
That's a nice spike from, what, four units coming out in my civ? But both LAM's civs are spiking too. I am personally of the opinion they're coming for us, and SMack is just responding. We'll see - but above all, we shall be prepared.

Thought this was interesting:

If you press the little green arrow next to "so-and-so wrote" it'll take you right to it. It's from Krill's thread in the general forum inquiring about future pitbosses.
Lewwyn is (obviously) part of LAM; perhaps they feel threatened on both flanks and this is causing them to think the world is going to erupt into general war soon. But hey, this is an Always War game, isn't it?

heh, it's all an arm's race right now. Whenever one team increases it's power, everyone follows right up with them. Once the first aggression starts, we might see some actual fighting

Putting the spear where you indicate is great.
Axes in VR and Cour are good. You could possibly run a Priest in Cour for the GPP - what is your whip anger counter on?
I'd probably whip the granary in Juno and then get some units lined up ready to whip if needs be (put a couple of hammers into an axe and a spear).
I don't think the avoid growth trick will do any good in Calcar ridge - I'd just grow it to size four straight away on the food, then whip the granary and overflow into whatever unit seems most useful.Priest in Cour?

Power:
Army after ending turn:
Situation:
What would you like those two workers to do? One each to the forests next to the two new cities?
Calcar Ridge before ending turn:
Overflow onto military?
Courcelette:
I took Old Harry's suggestion and ran a priest. Great Prophet in 25 turns. What next here? Four turns till whip unhappy fades, same with capital - two less in Calcar Ridge IIRC.
Juno Beach can single-whip the granary for exact hammers next turn, though this would stack whip unhappy (five turns there). Capital's axe finishes next turn.
Aaannd ... that's all!

I would actually have Calcar Ridge overflow onto a Settler. Then switch to a military unit to grow, and then maybe finish the settler. This if we still haven't seen any units from Commodore. Your sentry chariot has shown nothing out there for a couple turns, and that Spear of his disappeared without advancing at us further.
In Juno Beach, I think you would be fine to whip the Granary since that first whipping unhappy should be almost gone by the time the city itself grows into unhappy. Also, by then I'll have my 2nd Furs hooked up to be able to send to you. So I say whip that granary.
Also, can you make another Chariot somewhere to send to me to replace the one I lost? I'd also like to get a chariot over across the water to help with that exloration that your slowmoving Warrior is doing.
And what do people think about my trying to get a city settled down in the deep cold south to get that Marble? I forgot to take a screenshot, so if THH can do so when he logs in to show it to everyone, that would be good.
Here is my nation as it stands now. Mt Loon will 2-pop whip that Barracks next turn, overflow into completing a Worker, and then churn out some super-archers.

On a side note, if we decide we want to do so, I can get Great Wall completed in like 7 turns or less. And The Temple of Artemis completed in like 14 turns or so (forget the exact amount). Not sure if we want to try to grab either of those. Temped to quickly get Great Wall since it's still there.
