Pitboss 18 Lurker Thread of Infinite Wisdom

Turn 97

A very busy turn!

Bacchus makes peace with Yuri. Looks like his viciously aggressive play is paying off so far. I'm not sure it'll work long term, nor if it'd have worked even this far against a different opponent.

Mardoc declares war on Azza and takes the aggressive border city.

Cheater Hater makes peace with Whosit; apparently his aggressiveness has paid off so far.

dazedroyalty declares war on Furungy, razes a border city, and a chaotic weekend ensues as we all know. Furungy opted to whip a Quecha in Cuzco; based on his score last time he did the same thing. (Incidentally, how did dazed get away with not having a spoiler thread until now?)

Krill declares war on Ruff_Hi; hard to tell what exactly this was about without having read their threads, perhaps a dispute over the island between them.

Kril was 1t away from planting a seal city and blocking off a large island from Ruff when Ruf landed a settler on said island. Ruff's settler was covered by an axe so Krill ganked it with a chariot, planted his seal city, ensured room for 4 more cities uncontested and got a free worker to boot!

zanth builds the Great Wall. I guess he really wanted a wonder.

dtay declares war on pindicator. Looks like a border skirmish as opposed to anything serious.

I'm so very disapointed that Barry has quit, I'm missing a dedlurker now, who I was so sure would provide me with useful insight and help in general.

If you feel the need to troll, take it out on players who had any contact with you whatsoever. Not that I didn't lurk this, and didn't know what Barry was the first time he posted in my thread, but still, there was nothing to be gained but pissing me off, and you got that done, it won't affect my play but it will affect my opinion of you, so: congratulations... I guess?

And on a totally unrelated matter: Is there a way to ignore forum users (besides ignoring them ofc.)

Well you could just ask whichever version of Barry you had to keep lurking.

Yeah, go to someone's profile, there is "add to ignore list" at the bottom center. Their posts will appear collapsed into stubs, though you can still expand them if desired.

Hey, I'm the Barry clone who's been dedlurking you. Nothing related to that has to change, but I've been relatively inactive across everything due to being busy in real life. I only played one of Barry's turn sets, and I think I only updated once, and my updates have been scarce across my other games as well.

Anyway, things should be getting easier to deal with soon, and my number hours at work will hopefully be dropping by almost half, so I'll try to be more helpful. FWIW, my involvement with Barry was never as a troll, but more about doing something different and hopefully to get some of the same types of gameplay challenges we see in eitb31.

I'll burn 1,000 hammers if that's what it takes, that city isn't staying there. It's a straight up insult, honestly.

I actually agree with Xenu here, TBS was out to lunch thinking that settler would repay it's cost. Especially against Xenu, a staid proctor of vengeance since Boldly called him a doo-doo brain.

In completely unrelated news, here's why I will lurk every Dtay thread ever. Good mechanics, good opportunism, but mostly he doesn't collapse in a pile of tears when someone breaks his model sailboat.

So leaving Boyce as dead for now, I can chop out 1 unit in Moss, and whip at least 1 unit out of Amendola and Mayo. Despite that pretty sweet sword, 1 archer, 2 spears, 1 ax, 3 chariots, and 3 variable units should be able to hold. And that's without finetuning, I can certainly get up to 4-5 variable units.

I think the way to go here is figure out what the maximum limitation on units I can transport over is (galley capacity basically), and then make a judgement of how much of that capacity is worth actually building/whipping out.

EDIT: It's actually probably worth making the chop go into some nice PRO-cheap walls. +50% (+30% net) goes pretty far, should make up for some pretty substantial promo-disparity.

Go get him, Dtay! Of course, Pindicator has all those traits in spades too... Who to root for??

All blood is good blood I guess! hammer

It's easy to say that about TBS's move seeing xenu's perspective and therefore knowing that xenu's capital is just two galley moves away from the city. From TBS's perspective that city is clearly in his territory and it's one of only a few places he's capable of settling.

Turn 99

BGN declares war on wetbandit. Another border skirmish over an ambitious city location... this seems familiar. It's like BGN and xenu are somehow related... contemplate

Mardoc has Horse Archers and Catapults, while Azza does not. This does not bode well for him. wink

Jowy officially overtakes Barry, making his comeback by founding a second city on top of Iron and claiming metal again at last.

Automated Teller completes a quest which gives his Chariots free Combat I. Nice little bonus there.

HAK's declaration on Bacchus was just to pass through his territory it seems. Ruff and Krill made peace.

Also, Pyramids will fall soon... shhh
