How will this help us and why would we want to do it? Well, the ToA actually produces Great Merchants points. Great Merchants can bulb Metal Casting (so long as we do not research Mathematics!). Then we might theoretically be able to pop a Great Engineer . . . theoretically.
Problems: ToA also gives a Priest, so we'll only have a 40% shot at Merchant. Also, as I just realized, our Engineer would not be a sure-shot, either. Still, it's a possibility, and MC isn't a bad tech on its own.
We would need: Pottery, Masonry, Mysticism, and Polytheism. It's very risky, but who is going to race for the ToA?
Kyan had a more reasonable plan: Tech Pottery, Writing, Alphabet, and then probably Aesthetics, going for the Great Library sooner rather than later. Much safer plan, quite possibly smarter, but it's dull!
So, we're tossing it to you, TT. Kyan doesn't seem to think we have a shot at the Oracle anymore, and I have no reason to disbelieve him. I'm grasping at straws, but this is a shot at Metal Casting, and a very small shot at Pyramids via Great Engineer.
Hang on here - Operation Alphabet was my plan not KY's!!!!
But aside from that, that is what we should do. Oracle is miles away now, especially as Hinduism and Buddism have fallen.
Alphabet will work better and we can use the Libraries from writing to get a Great Scientist early and an Academy. Alphabet is just as tradeable as Metal Casting and gives us writing quickly.

Whoops, sorry 'bout that. I've been a bit muddled these last few days. I suppose, then, that Kyan must have been agreeing with you. *shock!* That must be why I assumed he came up with it! Yeah, that's the ticket!
Though I think that Kyan was hoping to use a GS to bulb Philosophy. Which is quite doable. We would have to make sure that we have Writing, Math, and Alphabet first. If we don't have those done for the first GS, we should have #2 out pretty quickly, right?
I can't remember if one of you have already suggested it, but we should at least get the Parthenon so that we're super-Philosophical!

Philosophy bulbing would be OK, but of course it depends on how much back tech we can get from whoring Alphabet around.
By the way guys, we need to come up with a response to Mali asap, preferably tonight. I'll be on MSN most of the night to come up with it

I agree with Parthenon and yeah we'll be getting scientists frequently. Using one to get philosophy and therefore Tao'ism may be one of the few ways for us to get a religion. Religions could massively help our empire financially if we spread it properly.
Turn done:
Demo's look very healthy. 2nd biggest military altho we have another warrior due in 2t that will put us top. Above average on food and production and our gnp is average.
Key Note:
Research is set to binary. This is our first turn of 0%, we need to run 0% next also, followed by 8 turns at 100% (the last might be at 90% actually) to get pottery asap.
Exodus: Currently set to worker, this is working out perfect as Speaker will finish pasturing the pigs in 2t, he will then move 2 tiles south onto the forest. He will then immediately chop that forest. This chop will finish off the worker. Exodus can then slow-build a barracks whilst it grows. I would like it at least size 3 asap to work the floodplains (which we should cottage), copper and pigs.
Genesis: Warrior in T+2. Then works on a worker. Worker will immediately move into forest and chop out a settler. 2 chops can be used if necessary.
Wyrmsbane: Has left the sanctuary of Genesis as it's now perfectly safe, to fogbust city 3 spot.
Adam: We haven't had 4 lurkers in this thread but this guy can be renamed as soon as we have a 4th. I just went with the Genesis theme for now but re-name him whatever you want TT. He is moving east with priority of finding our eastern neighbour and scout that awesome strip of riverside grassland we can see.
Novice Lionsbane: Has defeated his FIFTH lion. The man is a hero. Is set to heal for 7t but this will be quicker as we can promote him next turn. Question: do animals count as melee troops? If so, i would heavily suggest using shock as his next promotion. Considering barb warriors should be spawning now and he will be travelling thru a forest-less desert, this will be far more useful.
Banshee: Just covering Speaker. I trust Mali, but it can't hurt to be safe.

Looks good.
Re: Promotion: I do not believe that animals count as melee units. Shock would still be useful against Barb Warriors, though, so it may be worth picking up. Combat II is blah, but it works against everything.
I don't even remember what Mali wrote to us last. Ah, there it was. Well, basically, we don't mind exactly where they settle, so long as it's not an obvious attempt to steal our tiles. That is, our Marble should NOT fall in their city's 1st ring, or we will be unhappy.
Note they have horses available, so we may want some Spearmen someday, just in case.
I want to go to lunch, so I'll discuss the gameplan more later, but it looks good so far. Just gotta figure out how to make City 3 give us the most profit in the least amount of time. I'd probably put cottages down on all the grasslands that are not fresh water (to save room for farms). Work Cow, Work Gold, then work Cottages for a little extra cash. Chop stuff out.

1st draft Wrote:Emperor Capac,
A huge congratulations on settling Uberfish. We hope the city secured you some vital resources and/or territory.
You mentioned wanting to use the corn and pigs for seperate cities including one potentially 2 north of the corn. This is not an issue. We especially appreciate your second city not going in this direction as this allows the marble to build up some Kysit culture.
Bear coats you say? I mentioned this earlier to our defence generals and they were having none of it! According to them, the best military advice in such a situation would be to run. Maybe the Malinese warriors are made of sterner stuff? Well, except for the one exception...
Novice Lionsbane. He has been re-dubbed by Simba himself after his fifth lion slaying within recent times. He will, once he's tamed a lion cub to lick his wounds, head south in order to find our neighbours in that direction. We will keep you informed on what he finds.
One last point, we wondered if the mighty Malinese were considering building the Oracle? If so, we would be more than happy to lend you the marble as a gesture of good faith. We will no longer be persuing the religious technologies but if you feel this is an avenue you want to explore, i'm sure we could find some appropriate technologies to trade with you in the future.

Kyan
