Yeah, Nocturne's not really an assassin in any sense of the word. He's more of a cross between a Yi/Trynd-type melee AD and a typical Olaf/Udyr jungle bruiser. He's not really favoured by the current meta, but his skills make him strong in any case, as Bruce explained.

Fizz is reasonably balanced, but is an extremely high skillcap champ in a role not favoured by the current meta. Sulla mentioned Diana -- she's able to survive because she's a bit tankier. Katarina's also an exception to the rule, but only because she's uncommonly strong for a champ in that role. I think with further DFG buffs she'll be very strong again, possibly OP.

Nocturne has a mechanic that few people realize is really OP especially in solo queue. The darkness mechanic in teamfights. Hell, not only in teamfights - it counters Shen ult (since Shen can't ult someone that he can't see, apparently, and no, clicking on the portraits on the left doesn't work). But still, if Nocturne ults at the right time when the enemy team is split or otherwise, it is especially devastating for people who need to keep their distance. Imagine if you are a kiting-heavy champion and everything goes dark around you and you don't see anyone, which happens way too often in solo queue. Who to initiate on when you can't see? Where to reposition? It's not a very "shiny" mechanic, but damn can it be powerful.

Also Katarina is theoretically easy to shut down - just keep a stun for her, right? - but you only need to give up one kill or misfight one fight to make her snowball and get a quadra kill. She's kinda like maintaining a nuclear plant.

Well, if you played DotA you'd already know just how painful it is to lose sight of your team due to an annoying Ult.

Good players know how to stay bunched properly and fall back immediately. Less good players get split and picked off without anyone knowing what happened unless the darkness is removed.

IPL is apparently going on at The Cosmo which is right across from where I am staying in Vegas this weekend. Seems like a strange spot for a videogame tournament.

Part of it is that a big SC2 tournment is in the final glitzy stages and IPL is hosting it for Gom, while IPL is getting Gom's event running expertise (which is why you're seeing Korean music videos inbetween games).

Takeaway points:
- If we're just considering autoattacks, BT is much better than PD without ult, but this reverses with ult.
- Once tumble/condemn are taken into account, BT is much better than PD in raw damage, regardless of ult. Tumble's scaling with AD is too strong.
- That being said, if you are just going for pokes in lane and have a support that can buff your AD and keep you safe (Janna/Lulu), PD is a decent choice.
- If you think that teamfights or jungle skirmishes are likely, BT is better by a mile though.

When you got 800 gold and own a pickaxe and vamp sceptor, that's a reasonable time to buy the dagger and BG IMO, compared to buying nothing.
