Ok, our initial hunch from turn 1 - that the eastward land looked juicy- turned out to be spot on.
That is some insanely good land. It should also be about halfway between us and someone else - similar distance as Exodus. Riverside grassland pigs AND wet rice? That site is SO much better than anything else we've found it's not even funny.
You know what this means right? It's plotting time...
2 workers due in 5 turns. Chop is done in 3. 2nd worker currently queued up in Exodus for after the first using the chop.
Random Idea #1
1. We leave the chop 1 turn short, and instead move the worker one SE, mine and road up the copper.
2. The two workers which will then be around Exodus finish off the road on the marked tiles.
3. Genesis can plough a few turns into a barracks whilst the new worker is pre-chopping the nearby grass riverside forests (there are 2).
4. Secure NAP with Mali (this should probly be step 1 but can't be bothered to edit
)
5. We chop out and build a mini-army from Genesis/Exodus. Even 3 axemen, 1 spearman should be enough.
6. We scout a tiny bit further east using warrior but then hold position for fogbusting.
7. Try and avoid contact if possible. If we make contact, they'll be able to spend EP on us and therefore get their hands on our power charts.
8. Our new army moves in and prioritises any military resource. Chances are they have either copper or horses but i doubt they'll have more than warriors at this point. We have been number 1 or 2 in power all game long so far. Disconnect that resource and our axemen will utterly destroy them.
9. Worst case scenario we take out their second city (RAZING. We won't be able to afford the maintenance. Obviously if the location is insanely good we can re-think this stage potentially). We can then trap them in their capital and eventually take them out. By this point they will be long gone.
10. We then have superb land to peacefully expand into putting us in a strong position long-term.
Pro's :
Cash to fund research from razing the cities
Space! Space will be at a premium with this set-up. This gives us a big advantage.
Our power rating will be a massive deterrant for anyone thinking of picking on the 'newbies'. We mentioned an aggresive mind-set from the start, this could be a good chance for it.
Research should be un-affected.
Con's:
Potential diplo hit. I actually think it will make us more respected. i.e. people will think twice before trying to walk over us.
Slows down settlement of city 3.
removes one potential customer for alphabet.
We've got time to think about this but i think moving the worker to mine copper before chop would be a wise move even if we don't go ahead with:
