Also, we can boat Rouen with 2-6 knights next turn. Lorien build Heroic Epic, like you'd suggested, everywhere else with a stable started a knight, and everywhere else after that with a barracks kept working on pikes and longbows. You can get the next one, if you'd like... I feel I've redeemed myself for having ignored the start of the war over the weekend despite my name being on the thread.
Um, Oops.
So I played too, having looked everywhere and not seeing that you had played. My turn revealed a bunch of tiles and had random numbers generated, so I felt it would be unfair to take it back, as it were. (Compared to yours which from my understanding was quite plain.) So I talked to GES and it turned out he had only gotten my save anyway. I will post a report in a bit.
t101:
So MNG invested heavily into defense of Rheims (and probably Parthian, where Commodore is invading). But tours was defended only by a mace and 3 spears. Even against the mace we're getting 68% odds, so this seems like a cinch. Expected losses of maybe 2 knights or less? Sent in four C1/Shock knights first, and lost the first two at 68%/75?%. Then two more knights (don't remember the promos) mopped up. This put one of his knights in our newly acquired culture. I promoted a defending knight in Moria to C2, giving odds, and killed it. (Double GG points with Great Wall!) This earned us a great general. The other defending Moria knight captured a worker. Gimli also hopped off the galley and deleted two more. I shuffled a few knights around so we still had a defender in Moria (from Orthanc) and the same defenders in Orthanc (one from our forking stack). The other knights moved into Tours (oops, forgot to rename). Unfortunately we have 3 knights in range of MNG's two knights residing in Rheims, and two of them are wounded. So if he wanted to trade down, he could take a 50/50 for the opportunity to kill a single wounded knight. I doubt he'd want to do that though. He NEEDS those knights against Commodore's catapults. Note: all these maneuvers are only reasonable because MNG still lacks Engineering (and Construction). His mobility is approximately equal to ours! Speaking of which, our two workers roaded the flood plains, which allows knights to move from Tours to Orthanc or vice versa in one turn. Also note, I hired an engineer for a turn in Orthanc so we'd finish yet another longbow. The first promoted to Guerilla 1. In the north, MNG is taking an interesting tack. He's split his three maces in Rouen to guard the two spots next to it, thus preventing us from landing next to the city. LOL? Meanwhile his new capital is undefended, the troops heading south to Lyons. I loaded our two new knights and the catapult into a series of galleons with the final one only barely in range of Marseilles. Hoping he won't notice. I also parked the caravel on one of his resource tiles, to be annoying. Domestically, we bulbed education and finished research of it. I think we can get Banking and Economics in one turn each, too. And we're getting a great person in Barad Dur at the same time. Maybe time for another golden age using the prophet and one more? (Revolting to Merc or Free Market, and Nationalism/Theo at the end probably.) Or perhaps it's better to wait a bit longer on that, until our french cities are up. And yeah, built a 1t heroic epic in Lorien. The great general is on his way there and can settle next turn, just in time for the first of many 1t military builds. SevenSpirits Wrote:Um, Oops. Well, umm... oops, then. I'm not sure how I didn't get it to him. At least we weren't coordinating or something. Edit: Also, nice job on the galleon shuffle. I expect one of those two northern cities will probably fall next turn. We'll see which. He seems to be even more blind when it comes to attacks by sea than I would be averse to them.
Oh, a few more details.
* Tours has Granary/Mint/Market and a settled Great Merchant! We made $156 from the capture. * Somehow our last 3xp victory in our own territory took us from 27/30 gg points to 6/60. I would have expected 3/60 (3 * 2 (from the great wall) being 6). Anyone know how this works? EDIT: Apparently you get a 100% gg point bonus in your borders naturally. Great Wall just takes it from 2x to 3x. * MNG can surely retake Tours if he commits his army to it. But then he'll lose Rheims which he clearly finds more valuable. I think he will just defend. * The lighthouse was queued up in Grey Havens and I think I let it finish - damn. * Barring an imminent threat to Orthanc, we should get the new Orthanc longbow to the Flood Plains tile where it can reach all three former French cities. * There is a worker fortified in Moria, which I didn't noticed until after ending turn. Should probably unfortify him. (Just skip his turn if there's nothing for him to do.)
Nice. Is the GM from Economics still available?

Aaaaaaa where is the save we need the save it's taking too long to get the save.
Edit: If it comes in mid-evening can someone post the situation for comment? I'll be away from civ but not internet.
That post was so un-Sevenlike.
