[SPOILERS] Frederick of Sumeria

Sorry lurkers, played this turn in a bit of a rush. No screenies.

T28 played and I had a bit of diplo on opening. From NSA. jive Only Ruff to meet and we have the full set.

Message was to check the chat log. I have to admit, that communication channel is going to be far easier than the trade screen.

They mentioned they had no nerferous intentions. I have to admit - nerferous was not a word I had come across before but hoped it meant they came in peace. I've just googled it and it is no criminal intentions - which is good jive

They also commented on the repetitive lands. Seems they have spotted the similarities too then.

I replied welcoming them and offered assistance in meeting the others. I also commented about them having Wheat SW of their capital. They should be able to tie that up with their repetitive land comment I hope. I was going to go with Copper to the East as I have them down for BW 99.9% certain of that but felt best I perhaps shouldnt when I had Wheat or Rice to choose from anyway.

I also sent TT a message to see if he was interested in extending the nap to T60 as ours expires in 3 turns. I also said I was quite happy for him to settle the northern section as long as border pops don't exceed tiles 1 east of gold.

Warrior movement wise, the initial warrior went west onto a forest hill and revealed pigs to the SW of there. More food jive

My second warrior is healing in my borders. My third warrior fortified on the hill and was attacked by the barb lion. I've lost half health but at least we are still alive there. The fourth warrior is heading to the flood plains still ready for the settler to follow.

Anarchy over and the 27 hammers went into a settler this turn. Might switch to a 3 turn warrior next whilst my worker is chopping another forest for the settler.

C&D wise my mind is in a right tis!

NSA got a 3 point increase and has grown to size 3 - confirmed in the top 5 cities.

Soldier points average went up by 500pts. Top soldier pts went down 2k. Except on checking the demogs again - no they didn't go down. They never went up last turn bang So my statement of NSA having another warrior built last turn must be total nonsense. So Seven of Clubs must be their only warrior. I wonder if they have built a scout huh

By the way NSA - when you get chance to read this - Great Naming Theme you have!

I have put ad down for another warrior - it's either him or Ruff because TT is still stuck at 9k soldier points.

AH due in 2 more turns

T29 played yesterday and T30 this morning.

Met Ruff on T29 but screwed up on the diplo message as I was alt-tabbing between my C&D spreadsheet and the game. When I hit Enter to send Ruff his message through chat it actually ended my turn bang

It was my last action of the game so I decided to let it go and sort out this turn.

On T29 Ruff grew to size 3 - confirmed by the 3 point increase and city screen. Ad got a 3 turn tech. I have pencilled in Priesthood. TT also got a tech in 5 turns worth 4k. Either that or a 2k tech and a warrior. I have pencilled in the 4k tech The wheel though. Soldier points were still out of balance so I have also marked Ruff down for a 5th warrior.

Ok - so onto T30.

Researched AH on end of turn and we have horses in the BFC jive
But on the other conveniently developed commerce tile to the west. banghead You know - the one I thought might actually be iron when copper came in smoke

My worker also completed another chop into the settler. I can whip it next turn for 2 pop jive.

Here is what the south of Stamford Bridge looks like:

Ruff is to my south and NSA are heading west along my borders.

My injured warrior that initially headed east has fully healed and is now heading east again. My fourth warrior is making his way to the flood plains.

My initial warrior is still heading West himself. This is what he has discovered so far:

Need to be careful with those Barb lions around!

Diplo wise - here are the messages flying around at the moment: (remember - you have to read bottom to top)

First with NSA

I think we have a NAP until T50. Just awaiting confrimation with NSA. My last comment about TT is true - not heard a peep out of him for the last few turns. Not sure why, and if my C&D are anywhere near what I think he has unit wise, im not too concerned. But with a thread title called Cunning Plan - can't help wonder what that might be. He got AH early on and I can't rule out a chariot rush, so just need to be careful of that. Thankfully with copper in our BFC we should be able to neutralise any threat like that. I will be watching his Soldier count though to be sure. At present he has the lowest.

Diplo with Ruff:

Not much to go on - only met last turn and I screwed the initial message up as mentioned earlier.

Diplo with TT:

Again - if I can get TT to agree - it will secure my first settler positioning to the west. If not - I am considering settling to the South by the cows.

I don't have a screenie with Ad, as it was a few turns ago and all we talked about was meeting up with Ruff.

Finally the Demogs:

Apart from it confirming I have moved up 2k in soldiers (AH) the max soldiers of my opponents has increased by 3k. I have that down as NSA building a barracks in their capital.

Quick Turn 31 update.

Stamford Bridge whipped settler for 2 pop this turn. Overflow of 30 hammers will go into a worker (I think or possibly another settler). Worker moved NE to the forest to chop.

Initial warrior heads further west. 2nd warrior is back heading east. 3rd warrior is still healing and the fourth warrior headed onto the flood plains to find a Barb Bear over the river yikes Thankfully it had health of 1.3. twirl It musty have been the one that took out Wally. It attacked on the interturn and got slayed quite easily.

Points wise I dropped to last - lost 6 points which is the 3pop points * 2 pop lost. TT grew to size 3 anf got 3 extra points. NSA got a tech in 7 turns. I have them down for Pottery. Ruff got a 6 point tech and have him down for Agriculture.

I think the lay of the land (Assuming me in the middle) is:

Ad.....TT.....Me.....NSA.....Ruff

Diplo wise I have agreed a further extension with TT on a NAP to T50.
Ruff has pointed out that the middle ground is the wheat line. And you know what... he isabsolutely right, not 1 east of Gold like I had initially thought.

So should I tell TT or not huh He has not come back to me to tell me I am wrong. But then again, he probably doesn't have units scouted my way that far. I quite like my settlement position of Green Dot. I can get it in 3 more turns. That will give me 18 turns to get a few Vultures over that way to protect it too should TT get any funny ideas.

Couple of turns played over the past few days.

Will try and give a better update tomorrow as updating from a mobile is non too easy.

2nd city ready to settle next turn (green dot)

NSA got Stonehenge!

C&D department fired! lol Really need to revisit that area as TT's power is not the minimum as originally thought - just looking at the graphs which I have had for ages can tell me that duh Didn't even have NSA down for mysticism to even be able to build Stonehenge!

I also need to develop a short term plan of getting some vultures settled in defence to a possible impi attack by TT as he has gone silent on me.

Apologies for the late update lurkers.

No excuse really. I was really busy late Jan and early Feb, and then by the time I was going to update we were close to T50 so I decided to wait until then.

C&D department truly fired lol I have had 2 attempts to reconcile those soldier points and even with graphs I am ready to hammer2:

So it appears I have a 19 turn catch up - update to complete.

I am going to start with where we ended up on T50.

3 piccies to start of the land explored.

As you can see from the first picture I settled Old Trafford over on Green Dot.
I have sent a warrior south to explore that region with some very nice resources down there. My initial warrior is still alive and well has managed to reach Ruffs borders. Not sure if you can see his borders just peaking through on the west on the 3rd picture.

I decided to keep another warrior east between NSA and myself to help fight against barbs, and in preperation for when I attempt to settle that way.

My cities:

My capital.

Whipped for 2 pop on T50 for the 3rd city which I am going to settle SE of stone where my Vulture currently is.

This city will be my main Settler/Worker Farm for the near future. Whilst also completing a Barracks and Military in between whipping unhappiness.

I am hoping to create this city as my GP generation city. Intention is to farm, farm, farm the area and get as many GP's as possible. It will probably be also a whipping farm for more workers and possible settlers early doors as well as whipping any infrastructure it may need.

Research wise I have:

Hunting
Mining
Mysticism
Agriculture [Starting tech]
Priesthood
Animal Husbandry
Polytheism
Bronze Working

Unit wise I have:

2 Vultures
6 Warriors
1 Settler ready to go
3 Workers

Now the F9 screen:

Top 5 cities

You will see NSA have Stonehenge and the Oracle yikes
The Oracle was built this very turn. I wonder what free tech they are going for huh

Ruff built the Great Wall 4 turns ago.

Demogs

GNP - well I don' have much culture and I have now destroyed those lovely commerce tiles now cry

MFG - well I have to have some compo for destroying those lovely commerce tiles :neenernee

Crop - With 1 farm built in Old Trafford and the Wheat and Rice developed and being worked - it puts me up there competing. I think Crop is an important indicator early game so am happy to be leading at this stage.

Soldiers - bane of my life at the moment. TT's spawning impis by the looks of things like they are going out of fashion. I have countered with vultures where possible to hopefully divert his attention towards Ad.

Land - I think I was first to settle the 2nd city but cannot guarantee that. I think I might be close for 3rd city. I think Ad's land is because of being CRE.

Population - I was creaming until I whipped over the past few turns. Not overly important this early on I don't think.

The remianing stats I don't pay too much attention too and tend to be directly linked with pop and whipping.

Other things to note:

Just realised I have not taken screenshots of the diplo duh

I have a rolling NAP with TT guaranteed until T80. 10 turn cooldown from T70 if either of us want to initiate it.

I have a rolling NAP with NSA of 10 turns.

Land settlements:

NSA and I have come up with what I hope is an amicable land settlement agreement. They are going to settle the very same as Old Trafford. I am not overly happy about that, but Big Slick was placed in a position which basically forced their hand, unless they settled one more north which would then mean they lose the Wheat.
In compensation they have allowed me the south and the middle ground (as long as I don't take the Wheat). I am hoping that there may be some hidden goodies down here later in the game.

TT has also messaged me stating he may be willing to make concessions to land. I have asked him to come back with what he had in mind. If I can get a little further SW than I have allowed NSA, then I am going to treat that as a win/win. Mind you thats many cities away to even think about settling and I dread to think what cost impact that will have. Mind you it is Noble level. Must remember that!

Quick update before I go to bed. Sorry guys, no piccies.

Highbury founded South of Stamford Bridge SE of Stone NE of the Cow.

Ruff proved the world was round. bang Probably had a chance to get that myself. Never thought about that bonus. Mind you not sure how much use that will be on this map. Still any bit of advantage is always going to be useful.

I noticed there was a -3 relations between Ruff and Ad (War declaraton yikes before I had met them). Apparently this was a friendly war so Ruff could get through Ad's borders.

On the other hand though, TT has declared on Ad a couple of turns ago - I don't think this is right of passage as TT has writing for open borders. TT has been spaming impis, an Ad tells me has been stocking up on Axe's so it will be interesting to see how that all turns out.

Ruff and I have agreed a min T75 Nap with 10t cooldown rolling.

On another note - some of you lurkers may have seen my post in the setup thread here and PBEM9.

I get married this year so will be out of the country mid March, end of May and first week of June and then for 3 weeks end of July start of August.

Are there any lurkers out there who would be willing to play the turns for me whilst I am out of the country?

I should have internet access (well apart from end of July), just no access to play the game as I will not be taking my laptop with me. It's a bit big, old, slow and requires the national grid to power it lol

Any takers? If anyone can play my turns 17th to 19th this month I would be extremely greatful. Turns tend to go through 1 a day at current speed. I can leave notes on what to do and with any luck get internet access to discuss. I will give it another day here before trying the main area.

Finally got a spare evening to write up some updates. jive

Anyhow 15 turns on, this is the world as I know it now:

Welcome to the World of Sumeria. As mentioned in earlier posts Highbury was founded south of Stamford Bridge, quite a few turns back now. I have managed to pasture the cows and quarry the stone, whilst also managing to farm the flood plains also. The 2 workers on this task are currently west of Wheat to chop the forest into another settler.

I currently have another 2 workers farming the Wheat over in Old Trafford.

Up in the North East there is a bit of barb stomping going on. My Vulture has cleared up 2 barb warriors so far, NSA managed to get one also, but assuming they don't come after this current one it will be 3:1 to me that i have spotted hammer

Down in the south east my warrior has successfuly defended 2 atacks from barb warriors also. jive

The rest of the world as I know it so far:

Land of TT. Not had units over there for a while so this could have changed as I know TT has settled since.

Continuing West

This is what I know of Ad's lands. I believe he has only managed to settle his 2nd city not so long back, thanks to a little spat between himself and TT to which i'm thinking (well hoping) TT's licking his wounds from.

Carrying on further West.

I see Ruff appears to be sending a missionary west. I wonder if that is for NSA or a city placement way West??

He also has stone connected, not surprising considering he built the Great Wall. I wonder if he has plans for the Pyramids. It's something I am toying with building now that I have Stone connected but those hammers could sure come in handy for other things like military / infrastructure. The opportunity to be able to switch to representations though and caste could be uesful for my PHI trait though!

And further West, or now my immediate East:

My shambolic knowledge of my neighbours in the East. smoke

Diplo wise, there has been some activity, but again I failed to take snapshots of this turn. But I did find some for T59 when I planned on updating last week.

Mostly chit chat really in all of that. The important conversation to me was the land settlement agreement between NSA and myself.

The only thing to add to the diplo there is that I have a rolling 10 turn NAP with Ad and a little bit more chit chat between NSA and myself about how well Ad did in coping with TT's attack.

A brief look into my cities:

Seriously lacking happies, need to get over to that Gold in the East! When the chop comes through I will switch to a settler and then whip it out over the next few turns afterwards. Any overflow can go towards the remainder of a library.

Chopped into the Settler last turn, and now the workers are on to the Wheat this turn. I will whip next turn and probably settle 1 north of Corn (where NSA settled Big Slick I believe).

I'm in 2 minds whether to put the overflow into a library or ziggurat. I'd probably go Library to be able to utilise the scientists at the moment.

Finally Highbury. This is going to be military pump for a while. Although I am debating putting Pyramids in here. I need to get Maths before I even consider the hammers investment though I think.

Demogs

Not too shabby I don't think. I am tempted to try and obtain open borders with everyone. How do I know if that is a benefit or a hindrence to me though? Anyone out there that can give advice on the mechanics of this?

Finally my last piccie - the power graph:

You can see from this where Ad has been adding axes to his defence and how TT's impis got a special visit from them. :dervish:
