Hmm, i'm struggling not to judge Lord Parkin. I'm sure he's a nice guy but for some reason he's really getting up my nose. I think Gaspar summed it up well in that his tone screams 'better than you'. It could well be that i'm reading him totally wrong. Maybe there's a language barrier or something?
I don't know, just little comments like "picking little used combo deliberately". I guess i just see it as though he believes already that he's one of the best players here whilst having not proved himself at all.

I agree with you Ky.
His thread has a really odd tone to it which seems a bit like "i'm going to show you guys how to really play". He may be a top notch player, we shall see, but he is going to get up some people's noses with his style.
Hopefully its just a language thing but he says he's from New Zealand so its nothing like Mackoti who is Romanian. He should be pretty familiar with the language.

I also agree. I think the real question is how much it will carry over into diplomacy. If he can tone it down in diplo, I don't see it being all that important what he sounds like in his spoiler thread, but whether or not he can do that will be interesting to see.

Shoot the Moon Wrote:I'd bet a new PBEM would have the save held up for a couple of days from someone forgetting it is there turn or playing and forgetting to send on before this game gets paused for rule lawyering. Want to take the bet with the newly started PBEM 13? Twinkletoes89 Wrote:I wouldn't bet on it for PBEM 13 as all bar one of us are using the PBEM emailer so we all know who's turn it is most of the time. I'll totally take that bet ... especially considering I am thinking of adding a 'nag' option to my emailer that will send out a 'where is the save' email.

Enough chatter - we want pictures of the map!
I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.

Truth be told the map is being a bit of a bitch but I'm getting there. All starts are land locked, and are more production cities than commerce monsters. They'll have deer/cows for food and be fairly forested.
Also, I've watched Parkin play in 2 games, the MTDG where the team he lead had awful land, and the ISDG where they played a simple yet boring game. In both a fair amount of strategic mistakes were made IMO, but that isn't to say he hasn't improved since then, but I don't feel this community should really be in awe of his abilities - I am of the opinion that he really underestimates the abilities of the players on this forum (RBPB2 was the worst game for him to read because it highlights the skill disparity between 1 good team and all of the others, ignoring Byz).

Anybody know anything about Locke? Most people seem to enjoy his thread.

I started supporting him after reading his analysis though, which was really funny. Look at how he commented about the Netherlands pick lol.

Is it just me or does "Locke and Cervantes" really sound like some kind of TV drama? Maybe a whodunit series or something?
Just my mind making random associations, thought I'd share.

When did Cows become a food tile?

The deer is the food tile, the cows are support tiles. By themselves they suck, but in addition to a 5/1/0 tile? You don't sniff at that. The aim is to make players consider getting Hunting prior to AH, if they even go AH, and this brings into play the option of scouts. If they do go for AH they'll delay the acquisition of BW, and Oracle, Pottery etc.
