I guess from looking at it, IBP isn't too bad anymore, they used to only make uber highend 2K gaming systems.

I was looking at another web site that gave options on builds (cyberpower) and they were very similiar ... even down to the look and feel of their web site. Are they owned by the same people?
I have the option of buying a monitor from IBP (ASM wins the TLA award for this thread) and the price of the unit was reasonable - but the shipping jumped from $75 to $125 - I can buy through amazon and get free shipping.
I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.

How much is it total? Also what are the full specs? Its actually a hobby of mine to construct PCs for the least possible money or smallest form factor.

Given my pc requirements, the only think that I know I am over paying on is the case ... but what can I say, I've fallen in love with it and I will have to look at it for the next few years. Don't make me get an ugly thing like this ...
As opposed to the things that I am buying that I don't know if I am overpaying for or not ... thus my thread here with my friends from RB.

That's pretty good actually, you might want to consider a non-K CPU since you aren't overclocking.

i5-2500

i5-2500K

i5-2550K
The 2550K is a free upgrade from the 2500K and the 2500K costs me $5 more than the 2500. I have no idea what the difference is between the 2550k and the 2500k but it must be something ... right?

I dunno, if you GPU goes out it can be convenient to have a backup integrated so that's the only practical difference you'll see. How much is a 2600?

FYI - some price pictures are attached above in this thread.

I never see anything wrong with getting a good case that you like, and keeping that case every time you build a new PC (old components can just go in a newly bought cheap case if you want to use it as a server etc IMO). I found a case I like and I'm still using it as my main PC even through rebuilds and upgrades.
Current games (All): RtR: PB80 Civ 6: PBEM23

Regarding RAM: go for 8 GB in 2 sticks at 4 GB each. RAM is about the easiest thing to upgrade in most computers, and by going with two high-capacity sticks you don't need to remove two or more sticks when you want to get more RAM installed.
More RAM can be useful, but for your usage I think 8 GB will be plenty.
An SSD will do wonders. If you have an old hard drive from your computer and budget is tight, it might be better to put that one in your new computer together with the SSD. It is probably a better buy than the switch from i3 to i5.
Are you going for the integrated network and sound from the mobo - it's a little unclear from the spec sheet? In almost all cases, the built-in are more than good enough nowadays.
