RBClassic Themes Comment/Issue Thread

I like it now that the logo is more aligned to the left because of less greenspace (because the logo is aligned to the forum tables). Could use more greenspace tho, probably half the width of Viqsi's avatar.

I like Classic RB theme in general, especially the different shades of green to separate the subforums on the frontpage are very nice. thumbsup

However, I am not that thrilled about the new font used for posts. While I think it works reasonably well as black writing on a light background, I liked the old one better when used as white on green. Does anybody know the name of the old font used so I could compare side by side?

This is a line of text Verdana

This is a line of ARIAL text

While Verdana is a better looking text, Arial is easier to read in a block of text.

Basically the same font with Arial being a tighter skinnier

EDIT: I think the Font chooser is broken.

Well, the horizontal scrolling seems mostly fixed now, but I still think that the MyBB default theme would be a better ground to modify than the Apart themes that's been used so far. When I looked at the code, I thought there were far fewer CSS hacks in the MyBB default. We can carry over the Apart elements we want to use separately.

Some other things:

I think the smiley box should be to the right of the reply box (the smiley box is also truncated).

I really think we should move to CSS buttons.

The Quote button should be the rightmost button under a post.
Furthermore, I consider that forum views should be fluid in width

Misunderstanding. HFBoards (another forum I frequent) has a "quick reply" button left right of regular Reply which lets you use the quick reply box to reply to a post, rather than opening a new tab/page/whatever. I hit the "reply" button, but somehow managed to do so in a fashion that opened it in a new background window (maybe I control-clicked instead of shift-clicked) so I didn't see it happen. But not seeing a window pop up is consistent with quick-replying to a post on HFBoards where that functionality is implemented, so my brain went "yeah, I'm using quickreply" and just hopped down to the quick reply box and entered it there, even tho RB doesn't provide that capability and probably can't. :D

Basically I was attempting to make fun of my own muscle memory. Don't mind me. smile

EDIT: Also, I can't tell left from right naturally. It's not "left" and "right", it's "left [wavy left hand motion]" and "right [wavy right hand motion]", otherwise I'll screw it up. :D

I checked with the Firebug-Addon and noticed that the font order is "Tahoma, Verdana, Arial". After comparing them side by side I feel Verdana would actually look quite nice, but Tahoma is the worst of the three when used with the classic color scheme.

Boo, hiss. You added 5em padding to the .wrapper class. frown

What web browser are you using? User stylesheets are wonderful ways to eliminate these sorts of annoyances, and if that's not something you're personally familiar with I'd be happy to try and help handle it for you. smile

(of course, if this is on an iPhone or something like that, we're kind of screwed. wink )

ahhh - the default theme just changed from that nice green to a dark grey. Bring back the green (or provide it as a separate theme). I had to revert to classic RB (thanks) just to get away from the grey.
I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.
