I wouldn't rank them below some of the civs that survived. The starting techs aren't great but the UB is solid and so are the traits

Probably won't have any harm, but it sure is bizarre.

There's no harm because you gave Krill the only start where there's visible grain. Give him Thoth's start and he would have your head on a stick. I think your head should be on a stick for not rerolling the map, honestly.
