How would you (or anyone) know? M#reportingisforpussiestoo
I've talked to mackoti many times about Civ(97% of my RB gchat contacts are still opponents from the days of full diplo, oddly enough.) Anyway, you never get the whole idea but you can get just enough to make you think. He's constantly evolving, though, so some of my ideas there were gleaned as long as 3 years ago so I can't promise their current accuracy. That he's constantly evolving is why he's constantly winning, of course.
I didn't doubt you, I just like to poke at mack's only weakness: reporting!
I dunno if it's a weakness. I think it's a carefully planned marketing strategy to bolster his underground cred and keep him from being viewed as to main stream to be cool.

I think it is more an attempt to keep his opponents ignorant so he can continue to roflostomp everyone. No one learns from mackot. You only have the privilege of dying.

Yeah, it's nice to see new faces in RB games, who have mostly developed their civ skills elsewhere (and not mainly through reading/playing at RB like in my case). It's always interesting to see how well the approach of these vets adapt to this kind of MP settings.
It looks like this PB has potential to become a very interesting one, already having a snake-pick with this mod was . I'm even slightly annoyed that I'm not playing here myself.
Well, if there are a bunch of people that want to play another PB, I've basically done hte design work for a test mod based off RtR. Just need someone to actually code it.

I have no problem rolling a map and balancing the starts. I don't really want to make any promises over the balance of the rest of the map though. I'll roll a few till I get a good one to start with and I'll fix any issues I(or others) see but I won't exhaustively look for them, I'm not sure I want to spend that time. If you're ok with that caveat then I'll make it for you. I'd probably be looking at finishing the map on the weekend but could get starts out earlier.
I'm going for PB8 level of balance I suppose, IIRC PB5 was a bit worse than that. I've already done a lot more editing to the map than I had wanted to, mostly in the tundra/icy regions for civs with less land. I recognise that it's nowhere near a PBEM balanced map, but I think each civ has options. There's definitely room for improvement, but I think it's in a playable state, particularly given that mandate and I've spent so long looking at it now I think others looking at it fresh would be more productive. Feel free to be scathing .
Macks land is insane. He can work 3 gold tiles from his first two cities. He only has to expand in one direction, can't be flanked, has all strat resources and 2 metal happy, plus an island no one else can reach.
From a strategic point of view, the map is probably around the PB5 level IMO.
TBH, that just means I want you to use it so long as the observor mode is functioning. Can't stop mack from keeping us updated any more!
