[Spoilers] Bacchus debuts on RB showing unmatched vision and slick dice-rolling

Turn finally rolled, here is the screenshot of the active theatre:
They will maneuver as needed, and all forts will be built in time. I wanted to spread units round, to get some fortify bonuses everywhere, in case Plako decided to flank. The key Corn tile has the biggest number of CG2 Muskets -- 6, another 4 moved to the capital to earn some fort boni. It's all silly, really, Plako has so many troops, that nothing I can do will slow them down even by a turn. I can make him drop bodies, but at the end of the day I will have 44 muskets, 15 cats and 20 Lbows against ~20 Cavalry, a dozen riflemen, 20 Muskets and a dozen Cannon. Plako will probably just take three big battles one after another, drop some bodies, but ultimately come out of it fine. People refused to finance my research, so I will have rifling in 9 turns are current research rate (soon to decrease). My last stand will be at Case of Conscience, if William doesn't raze it first. Because number of units is no longer really an issue, I switched into wealth, only capital will continue popping out a Musket a turn.
I'm surprised your own people haven't gone into open revolt with the way you've pillaged the countryside. They likely yearn for their new Plakoan overlords at this point. Good luck, sir. Be brave!

How many units is Plako having to spend to clear your forts? I think the last time I saw someone try to defend like this was the Civ 2 AI :P Not to be disparaging- you're certainly employing a more interesting defense than the all-too-popular "retreat everything into the capital and await death" method, and it's not like you realistically had better options.
I'm not counting, but he is expending a pittance. Cannons, mostly. Killed a cavalry with a Knight after a throwing my catapult stack at him (better than have cats die to flanking).
The reason I didn't withdraw all to capital, as then he would have hit will 12 Cannons on the same turn, against everyone, and they would have died there and then. In this instance, it made no difference whatsoever, but if I had, say, a smattering of Rifles at least, I still would have gone for a series of strongpoints. And it would have been a better showcase of the rationale, which in this instance looks pretty laughable.
Honestly, Civ isn't a game where tactical maneuvering can overcome an army that is superior in both quality AND quantity
a large obsolete army can be used well to beat a small modern army, or a small modern army used well can beat a large obsolete army, but if your opponent has more and better units than you, no amount of tactical maneuvering will save you- sometimes its just about how much you take with you, and even then, an intelligent opponent will maneuver just as well as you do mackoti Wrote:SO GAVAGAI WINNED ALOT BUT HE DIDNT HAD ANY PROBLEM? |
