RB Pitboss #1 Spoilers - Joai of the Incans - Krill/Memphus

First thing would be to figure out exactly who's now in the rego alliance. If the people who I think are in it (broker, elkad, rego, dsp, sunrise) then research wise we're going to be behind real soon so as far as I can see our only option would be to quickly organize and squash a member of this new alliance before it can even get started. Preferably rego because he's probably the one that organized it.

That can only really happen though I'd say if shady didn't move over. If shady moved over as well then I think we're screwed.

Munro - Playing good but civ is still way behind.
Lins - Another small civ, says he's still recovering economy from last war. Wasn't really paying attention to the game.
Imo - Would probably be more useful if somebody like Munro just took him over for us. He doesn't want to play and his mistakes are probably a reflection of that.
Shady - Stuck right in the center and already at war with two of them.
MHK - Not really putting much effort in and is spread out in a really awkward way. If they went after him he'd collapse no doubt.
Myself - Lot of resources to draw on but no economy to speak of. Probably 1st or 2nd target rego will want hit.

TBH you're owed the techs from certain players, use blackmail to get them. So long as you can get up to gunpowder I think you can weather the storm fine, and tbh you're owed Education, and GP at least for the gold that has been given.

Just kick up a fuss about backstabbing and how they abused your trust if they don;t give the techs.

Also, talk to everyone and see what happens.

OK well dsp doesn't want to trade gunpowder. I've gotten up to edu from Kodii before the dsp announcement.

I'll Post some chats a bit later. By the sounds of it rego jumped before he had anything firmly lined up with people. I managed to start talking to broker before he did and broker seems to have joined my camp. I think I can get Lins also and 99.9999% certain Munro is still a strong ally. Broker is going to join over for some trades for settlers and workers and says he'll have gunpowder next turn.

Maybe rego just did this to try and make things more interesting?

OK sorry for the delay in getting these up people and the length. Think I may have missed one or two.

chat witn Lins Nov 20 Wrote:me: Ah so you hadn't completely forgotten the password to the email account at least wink
Lins: Not entirely
(I used to have both accounts open at once - one in IE & other in Moz - but the Moz started farking the chat on me and crashing)
Though i confess to have been sleeping through this game somewhat
me: I just forwarded the emails from the team address to mine so I know if people send there smile
Lins: Ah, that would be smart
There are two of us though, although Kalin's been pretty busy recently
Oh, I suppose I should confirm that we are NAP'd to t191 as we had agreed at the end of the Krill war?
me: Think it's T190 but I could be wrong.
Close enough wink
Lins: 1t either way makes little difference
I think Krill asked for the extra turn so he could avoid having his Trireme bumped
(or something)
me: You say regoarrarr has left the UTA?
Lins: I assumed from your message that that was what you were referring to
guess not
me: I was guessing that's what was happening.
I didn't know for sure though.
Lins: so what developments were you talking about?
me: DSP gave notice he's leaving NUTA.
Lins: interesting
expect they're probably shacked up together now
me: Oh yeah no doubt
And I expect they've got a few others lined up.
Your neighbour being one of them I'd say.
Lins: Oh?
me: I'm pretty sure sunrise and reg are pretty buddy buddy. And strategically it makes sense for both of them.
I know for sure they keep in close contact at least because when I settled a city over that way that sunrise couldn't but rego could it didn't take long to get a message from sunrise as well.
Lins: Ah
me: Plus rego was talking about recruiting me :P
Lins: Well sunrise is a bit nervous of the Inca
Aha
So are you thinking of staking your lot with them, or are you here on a recruiting mission yourself...? wink
me: He was actually talking with Krill before I even started, that continued on after I joined up as well. He's been working, as was Krill, to form a split from the two alliances to wipe out the rest.
Oh he doesn't like me since I settled on his border hehe.
Lins: Heh
me: Plus I had no illusion. I'd be first kicked out after any potential allies were crushed and then I'd be the next target.
Lins: Aren't you on everyone's border by now!?
:0
me: Surprisingly no, pretty isolated.
Lins: We've been walking around your Western border a bit
you cramped Rome over there quite nicely
me: lol yeah well Munro and I are working together a bit now. Think we're on good terms but who ever really knows.
He took over a rather tough civ to bring up in the world.
Lins: Sure
Yeah, it did seem to get a bit shafted
me: So how much territory do you have left to settle? I don't know the border locations to your south but you look pretty tucked in in your spot?
Lins: We've got a little space left to the South and a couple of gaps to fill in the middle
Still mostly trying to rescue our economy
looking respectable again now though
me: OK
Well I was trying to get hold of you before these splits and they might change things a bit. Though I had a feeling they were going to go down.
I'll just cut to the chase on it since relations with rego and uta are rather useless as it stands.
What I was thinking that if/when a war breaks out with me with rego on the border by sunrise that it may be a nice time for you to get some real nice land from your neighbour sunrise wink
Lins: Well obviously I (we) need to consult with our other allies
We have had a close relationship with sunrise in the past
me: Yup fair enough. You may want to just give it a day or two.
See who else splits away. If they didn't keep you in the loop that should give you a good idea of where you stand.
Lins: certainly
and we will consider you offer of cooperation ... even if it doesn't extend as far as military action
me: yeah well it'd be indirect military action. You keep rego's ally busy so he's not sending rego troops and I make sure rego isn't helping his little king maker smile
And provided he hasn't recruited shady (which I'd be surprised) then he'd still be fighting a tough war in the south hopefully as well.
Lins: yeah
me: Probably should have made sure he hasn't recruited you from the beginning lol just occured to me.
Lins: I've not been recruited
:0
me: All the same I know he listed you once in an email but you were also one to be taken out easily. Oddly enough so was dsp who was only a maybe for recruitement
Lins: ah well
not being readily available works against us
me: Yeah guess so. One of the emails from him at the start discussing it:
Well, how might things look if we got you, the Lins, me, sunrise, broker, elkad and munro (the new ruff?). Maybe dsplaisted too? We could take on mostly-harmless / kodii (who want to be out of the game anyways) and imhotep maybe?
Lins: Ah

chat with Munro nov 20 Wrote:Munro: hey yaz
me: hey
Munro: where are you off to with work?
sounds interesting
me: Sounds like korea but will mostly be on oil rigs.
Munro: oh
not so much fun then
me: So no net connection really heh
No not so much.
Munro: yeah
oh well - hope you have a good trip regardless, if you do go
I can probably help you find a replacement if you don't have any lined up yet
me: Well it will certainly be a change of pace at least.
Munro: yeah
me: I don't really know anyone who'd play.
Munro: you could try posting on some of the forums?
civfanatics is a good one
(and I know at least one player who might well be interested)
I can suggest some others too... I think I listed them a few pages back
when someone else was looking for a replacement
me: I'll wait until monday or something to most if you know some good ones that might want it. I don't know anybody from other communities so wouldn't know who to avoid :P
to the guy I have in mind
me: Better not find out he just gifts you all my cities :P
Munro: lol
I don't know him that well - it won't be like that
but he seems pretty solid
I'm saving all my good allies to take over for me when I'm away on vacation
don't want them entering as other civs and losing my supply of subs smile
are you looking for a permanent or temporary replacement?
me: Probably be best to call it permanent because I don't know exactly when I'd get back. Plus I'd hate to kick somebody out after a month or more.
Munro: ok
well - I'll send this guy a PM
me: k
Munro: so.. what about dsplaisted then?
what's that about? :o
me: Rego has quite the UTA.
I was pretty sure it was a new alliance rego had been trying to put together and rather convinced of it now.
Munro: who's in it?
is this just dsplaisted joining the UTA?
me: Don't know yet.
Nope UTA is going to be gone, same with NUTA I'd say.
Munro: interesting
bit of a pain with tech brokering off
me: Yeah
Munro: I'm asking dan now if he will give me gunpowder to help kill him with :D
me: lol
Munro: he says he is going to think about it
sounds like he will probably go along with it
me: :D
Lins hasn't been recruited by this new group supposedly yet. Just talking to him.
rego had been trying to recruit me a while ago for something like this.
If his list is still about the same I'd expect sunrise, broker and elkad to be with him.
Munro: some good players in that list
I think he has maybe been approaching me as well
he has been sounding me out anyway
probably everyone
me: You were originally a maybe on his lists. So was dsp.
imo and Kodii were targets.
I may be THE target though now heh
Munro: obbious targets really
yeah - you are a very obvious target now that you are leaving
me: And now that I settled on his borders during settling negotiations :P
Munro: if he was pushing hard in the negotiations it probably m3eans he planned to attack you all along
so didn't want to give away anythign he'd have to take back by force
you probably have not lost much
me: True. I knew I'd always be first kicked out and taken out if I did join.
Most of it would have been his friends from UTA and I would still obviously be his biggest threat.
Anyways I gotta run. I'll talk to you later, let me know what your possible replacement says.
Munro: will do
catch you later
BTW - his name is Exploit
in case he just posts on the forum directly
me: k

chat with DSP Wrote:me: So is it you rego, sunrise, broker and elkad?
Not speaking to me anymore? frown
Daniel: sorry smile
me: :P
Daniel: I'm not not speaking to you
me: Good
So did I guess the split correctly?
Daniel: I can't confirm or deny the existence of a "split"
me: :P
I know you're gone. I know rego's gone.
I know rego was forming an alliance. He was recruiting me lol
You were originally only a maybe. This new alliance was a long time in the making but I turned him down obviously.
I know Broker and Elk were original members he was going for. Sunrise was as well and he's basically rego's pawn.
Daniel: It will be fun hearing some of what really happened when the game finishes
I wish I was doing a better job at keeping my thread updated...
but just playing the game already takes up a bunch of time
me: True, it certainly does lol
Anyways guess I won't get any info from you hehe
Good luck though because if I'm right then you're now in the position I didn't want to be in. In an alliance formed by rego, filled with his close allies who will no doubt turn on you as soon as it makes sense. And now you've turned your back on all your potential real allies that could get you in the end game.
Daniel: You say that you don't think you'll get any more info from me and then you try to tease more out of me :-p
me: Nah. I try to put doubt in your mind so maybe you'll change your mind on your allegiance :D
Especially since I was already working to make the game more interesting by getting on rego's bad side.
Anyways I'm off. Good luck. At least it will be interesting.

chat with dsp Wrote:me: Hey
Daniel: hi
me: Can you at least send over gunpowder since I helped pay for it and it's from when you were in NUTA?
Daniel: How much of it did you pay for?
me: No idea and rather irrelevant. It was part of deal while being NUTA? You're really not going to be that type of player are you?
Daniel: I made a pretty sudden decision... I didn't take money from anyone while planning to leave
me: I understand switching. But if you're not trading a tech that your alliance paid for and that you researched while being part of them when you had the deal to be their researcher and receive money for it then that's a pretty dick move I'd have to say.
That's at least the equivalent of signing a NAP to get something and breaking it once you have your way.
If I was concerned about money amounts then I'd be asking for potential chunks for what you research in the future for those you left. All I want though is what you researched while part of NUTA.
Which is only fair I think.
Will you?

chat with regoarrarr Wrote:me: negotiations aren't that fun are they? :P
Dan: what do you mean?
me: :P
How goes hooking up your new alliance?
Dan: i'm a free agent baby
me: lol
Dan: everyone else is hooking up ME :-D
me: That is almost believable...
At least it's making things interesting.
Too bad I may miss it when it all goes up in flames frown
Dan: so you're definitely leaving
or just a chance of it
me: I don't know for sure but it's likely.
Dan: shoot
me: Was sort of announced I'd be the one to go when the deal is signed. The deal isn't signed though
Dan: that's too bad
me: But they're already preparing.
Dan: should i try to sabotage the deal?
i have a spy in the area
me: lol
You have a spy on an oil rig in korea?
Dan: yup
me: damn you're good
Dan: and it hasn't moved for 5 turns to get the stationary discount
me: Better not risk it though
Dan: shoot what's the tech to get offshore platforms? Maybe i should try to steal that instead
me: :D
Dan: so how come you're not trying to woo me? i don't want you to think that due to our little teta-a-tete with RR and SS that i'm not interested in potentially working with you
me: Why weren't you trying to get me to hire you? frown
Dan: well consider this my getting
me: But then if I sided with you it'd ruin all the work in creating an anti rego alliance frown
Dan: why is there an anti-me alliance?
that's no fun
me: Could be very fun :P
Admit it, you like seeing things go boom
Dan: no, not really
me: Think you could convince dsp to trade me the tech I paid for while he was in NUTA? :P
Dan: hmm
maybe if he trades it to me too?
me: Well he's part of your little group isn't he? Seems to be what he thinks.
Dan: is that what he is saying?
me: That's some of what I got from our long chat last night.
Dan: hmm
me: Yeah. Needless to say I'm not trusting him much from the backstab though.
Dan: so who's in your anti-me alliance so i can crush them?
me: Why would I want to tell you when you won't tell me?
Dan: cuz ya love me?
me: Only when you were courting me frown
Dan: so do you feel like i am turning against you? i don't feel like i am, but i kind of feel like you are turning against me and so i don't know if that's a reaction to what you're seeing, or what
me: It's the impression I've gotten.
Dan: so what can we do to fix that?
i never like just writing off relationships
me: I guess I'm open to proposals.
They'd have to be pretty good after pulling a move like surprising me with splitting up the alliances.
Dan: so, what are the kinds of proposals that you would be interested in?
me: Not sure.
Dan: that makes it hard to propose things :-D
me: Well I wasn't really thinking about having to negotiate like this with you before so don't relaly have things in mind.
Dan: nto to mention, that at least from my perspective, you haven't been much for the actual negotiation front as opposed to just acting
is that fair?
at least from past experiences in this game
though maybe it's different now that krill is not in the game
me: Same civ so can't really split us.
Dan: yeah
:-(
well i need to run
do you want to talk any more about this?
would you really be interested in a proposal from me?
i'm happy to try and come up with one if you want one
but i don't want to take the time if you're note really interested
and obviously the more you could help me with what you might be interested in, the better
me: Everything is in the air so I'm open to anything. I don't guarantee I'll accept because I have no idea which way I'm going or how things will turn out.
If you want to send one then please feel free and I'll honestly consider it but i don't promise it's the way I'll go.
Dan: that's fine
me: You've certainly shook things up :P
Dan: as long as you'll consier it
me: Which is nice smile
Dan: i just didn't want to take the time to write one
if your mind was already made up and there's a stack of 20 units on my border, ifi you know what i mean smile
me: There's only about 10 there. Don't worry. They're just there to prevent your knights from running into my lands.
Dan: but my knights are only there to stop YOU :-)
after all, only one of us has made aggressive settlements into an area that he previously agreed the other could have :-D
me: hey, well at least I didn't go race lockland when it would have been oh so easy. The reasoning I sent in my email to you was honest. I had no intentions past that.
Dan: ok
well i do need to run
ttyl
me: cya

chat with broker Wrote:Broker: easier to talk out here
me: yeah
So you weren't approached at all?
That surprises me
Broker: what is surprising?
me: That you weren't approached for the new rego alliance
Broker: Got an email after he left that he wants to talk
thats it
if it is after he left I would think he is set
me: hmm maybe he rushed it.
Broker: hmmm chatting me up now
me: What were your relations like with him?
I'm guessing I must have spooked him a bit when I settled his border.
Broker: Relations were ok but he never seemed invested
me: Yeah well he was trying to organize a new super alliance way back with Krill. Continued with me after I started playing.
Was pretty obvious it was going to be run in his favor though.
Broker: well even I try to negotiate things in my favor smile
me: Yeah but normally both parties get a bit of something wink
Broker: any idea what the new alliance is?
I try to be fair while I get a bigger bit smile
me: I know for sure rego, dsp and sunrise.
Broker: well he is chatting me so ...
me: I suspect elkad but I don't know. And if he's only approaching you now then he tried to rush it because he's worried.
Broker: I am not nearly as weak as people belive
me: No you did a pretty good job spooking kodii :P
Broker: not as good as everybody else and a bit slow but I am doing ok
so far you are the devil
me: Yeah. Odly I'm not as strong as people think lol
Broker: You economy must be crap
me: I could probably take out rego if needed but it'd basically set me way too far back to come back in this game.
But I could make sure he doesn't get through to end.
Broker: ah now he want sme
me
me: figured as much
Anyways if you want another option then I'm looking to setup something else.
Needless to say it's a bit of a scramble but I'm probably more open to negotiation.
Broker: I still do want to win probably cant but not gonna shoot myself in the foot
Options are open
me: Well we haven't gotten to speak much and I have paid too much attention to your situation.
I've got munro. Pretty sure I can get lins. I get you and our sea in the middle is completely safe for transporting help between us.
Broker: lins and me on opposite sides would not work well
me: Pretty sure he doesn't have Lins. Was talking to him last night.
Can't be sure someone is being honest but he says he wasn't approached at all.
Broker: I appear to be the swing vote here
me: Well if you could let me know some goals that you'd want accomplished then I could better see how that could fit in a plan.
Broker: right now I need an influx of settlers and workers more than anyting
me: Funny, I'm pretty good at making those wink
Broker: then I can look at expaning out of my area
me: As you may have noticed hehe
How much room do you have left to settle? I don't know at all what the borders are like south of you.
Broker: I think 6-8 primary sites and I can probably squeeze 2-3 fillers
me: Ah so quite a bit more room to grow.
Broker: tundra crab but has resources and rathas make it viable
me: How good are you at researching?
Broker: Ok getting better. 150bpt now goes up every turn
Just checked 159bpt.
me: Well if you want to come up with a deal of settlers and workers that you think would be fair to join our side as a techer then lit me know. I'm quite open to that idea.
Broker: I have ideas and I know who is in thier group now
me: Willing to share?
Save me time of talking to wrong people :P
Broker: probably but not right now smile
me: bah hehe
Well I'll tell you this. I've got one settler and a couple of workers I could start heading in your direction right away if you came over the light side :P
I've got the two traits to make sure you get the rest fairly quickly.
You can talk to Munro if you like to understand I'm a pretty fair dealer and willing to help out others.
Broker: Ok reading two conversations
me: And with Munro as an aly and being on sea with you it makes for safe path to get them down to you.
Can you comfirm whether Lins is with him or not?
Broker: Lins is not which is good for your side....
me: Yeah so don't think you'd want in a position with Lins, Myself and munro as enemies.
Broker: You are willing to provide settlers and workers on a fairly quick pace?
me: Define fairly quick? And what sort of deal are you willing to sign? Obviously I don't want to provide things fairly quick. slow down my infrastracture and then find you just switch over once you have them.
Broker: I dont operate that way
It will be a fair deal
me: Well let me look about how fast I could reasonably get three.
Broker: I dont expect them all for free I could provide units or techs
You said you have a settler and 2 workers available
me: I do.
Broker: I give you the list of others can I have them smile
Good faith move on both our parts
me: Seems like a lot to give for a good faith. Good faith gesture as start of a partnership?
Broker: LOL yeah its a high price but yes towards the start of a partnership
me: I'll agree provided your info isn't just that rego is going solo for hire smile
Broker: When you see the list you should be able to figure out the way I will lean
me: ok
Broker: nothing is completely finalized yet
but the folks that i've been talking to are myself, shadyforce, dsplaited, kodii, sunrise and hopefully you
me: deal
Broker: send them smile
me: :P
That's an exact quote form him?
Broker: Yes
me: OK. Is there any other juice parts of the chat you could give me? :D
Broker: Seems hell bent on you not getting that info
me: Oh yeah. He's chatting to me now, pretending he's innocent and all on his own.
Which is obviously bullshit.
Broker: He plays it pretty close to the vest
So based solely on that list as an outside observer where lies my best chance
me: Hard to play it close to the vest when he was trying to recruit me before and dsp already basically told me there was an alliance.
I don't know. Guess it depends on whether you want all your enemies around you and your allies far away and unable to help. Or you rallies around you and one enemy on your most defendable border that he backed down from.
Broker: One front is the way to fight
When I am up to 18 cities dont you think regoarrarr my think me a threat...
me: He won't think you a threat until I'm gone probably.
And I'm on his border now like I told you.
Which I think is what set this all off.
Broker: I have to think but first though is munro and I split Kodi up
Imhotep probably falls
me: If kodii is over there then I'm fine with it but I want to talk to him first. And Elk as well.
Actually you probably know Elk better don't you?
Broker: Elkad is in trouble
me: Yeah could be. I really need to get in touch with shady
Broker: shady is with them so either splitting up imho or elkad
me: He was swearing he would never make peace with rego. So I'm wondering if rego is just still talking to him.
Broker: Well I have gunpowder next turn so drafted muskets should help him out
me: That'd be nice Would you be willing to send that tech up? smile
Broker: probably could come to an agreement smile
me: hehe
Broker: I have a nap with Kodi that last another 10-12 turns may just have to signal my intent not to continue it
need to get on board with munro though has to be a 2 sided hit
me: OK well I'll send him a message about our chat.
Broker: If you can provide the settlers and workers I need I can switch to military
alright I really need to think this one out but I am leaning towards opting out of regoarrarrs group
me: I'll say I'll tentatively agree. I want to speak with mhk just to try and comfirm they're with him or where they'll be going.
Or whether they are going to put the effort into the game to be useful at all.
Can you get in touch with Elk?
Broker: Believe the good faith was huge torwards my ability to make a deciion. I just want to make sure as you can understand
I can try he dosent always answer
me: k. Well I'm going to send messages out in the next hour to some people. I'll be around later if you want to talk to finalize things.
Broker: I may have to send him some troops to help out
me: OK. Well how do you want the units I owe you transfered down?
5 minutes
Broker: Just run them down the road through lins land Do you have open borders?
me: k I'll talk to him about it first and arange for it. My settler I have is on munro side so will take a bit to get over there.
I'll let you know time frame later today hopefully.
Broker: can they get on a carvel?
me: nah settlers can't.
Broker: bummer
me: And I only have triremes in the center sea.
Broker: I have 2 carvels there
You said by munro side
I can build a galley
You still in game?
me: yeah
Broker: How about a map trade?
me: hmm how about after a gunpowder deal? smile
Broker: munro has a city sleeper service that is short distance from my city across the water
me: I've got a pretty big map hehe
yeah I see it.
I could move down to there if you want to build a galley
Galley could be useful for later for us as well. I may also make one.
It would take 7 turns for settler to get to his sleeper service city.
Broker: gmail is really acting up now
Ok I will build a galley for ferry duty
clear it with him though
me: Yeah I will. I've traded maps with him so don't think it'll be a problem. But oviously need to clear it.
I should go write some emails. I'll talk to you later.
Broker: ok gonna switch off a settlerbuild smile
talk to you later

chat with shady Wrote:me: Hey, did you get my message?
Brian: just reading it now, was away all day
me: smile
I've been in front of my computer all day trying to figure out what's going on smile
And watching desertbus
Brian: I've been considering my position, whether it is feasable for me to continue in the NUTA with Daniel turning against me
and also, since my one job in the NUTa is pretty much to be at war with Rego, and that I may be forced into peace because of AP vote anyway, hat makes it more awkward
me: Could always war dsp :P
Anyways I'm working on a bit of new alliance since things are splitting.
Brian: I had secretely been hoping that Daniel's resignation was indeed a move towards a FFA situation, and I was strongly considering following suit since I've heard that UTA is indeed splitting up as well
to me, FFA is what the game should have been, I've been tiring of this alliance structure
me: Fair enough.
Brian: TBH, I think my best play ois to make peace with Rego, at least for now (no long NAPS - I don't do them), and to continue my war with Elkad - alongside Daniel
I realise that this is not ideal for you, but I guess it's fair to let you know you probably won't be able to count on me to flank Rego for you in the near future
me: OK. Well in the interest of letting you know where things are going, Elk may end up in our group because we could use another techer. It sounds like mhk may be with rego.
Brian: I could war with Daniel, but my border with Rego is uite long and I'd need a lot of defence there... if it is true that Daniel and Rego have formed a full alliance
me: I've heard it from a couple angles and pretty sure it's not coincidence that they both left at same time.
He's trying to keep the list secret though but I pretty much know who he's been going to and know I've gotten one of the people he wanted.
Due to our good relations though I'll let you know ahead that if Elk does sign up with us I will be warning him about your attack plans. Can't have you wiping out one of my new allies :P
And if things shift the way I'm hoping they do in the next couple days rego could be in a lot weaker position then he was hoping for.
Brian: fair enough
(re warning Elkad)
as I said, if you can't count on me then you gotta do what you gotta do, and I just think I need to keep my options open
me: Yup. Well let me know if you want to discuss anything, even if it's just a one off deal with your crazy rebel nation smile
Brian: of course, I got on well with Krill and I get on well with you, lets keep chatting and see how things unfold

Emails - didn't order them properly with chats sorry.

email from Lins Wrote:Hi Yaz,

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner; I've kind-of got out of the habit of checking this e-mail address.

I've just got the news from rego about his leaving the group, but I've not spoken to sunrise recently. TBH, we're still trying to rescue our economy from the state it was in at the end of our little war with Krill. I guess I'm going to have to perk up a bit and try to pay a bit more attention to this game in he near future or get run over!

As for expansion, we're still working on filling our gaps and suchlike. If the Trade Club is falling apart, obviously we are going to be looking to secure agreements with our neighbours to ensure our continued survival.

Of course maybe you're going to be departing soon as well...?

If you want to chat, I usually hang out under my other gmail account: Dreylinwillowbark@gmail.com

response Wrote:Good day smile

Well through all this chaos I may have some things coming together.
I've gotten confirmation of people rego has gotten or is in the
process of pursuing. Your neighbour, sunrise is one of them. dsp as
well.

I'll come out and say I've been arranging myself, munro and broker who
would be of interest to you. Broker was quite keen to have you and
passed along that when rego was trying to get him that he let slip
that you were not to be part of rego's new group. Would you be open
to some sort of new alliance?

from lins Wrote:Hey Yaz,

Well I've just been chatting with broker as well, and with that list it sounds like our choice is between joining you guys or crawling away and dying... 9-)

I still need to chat to sunrise and get his POV, but let's say that without a compelling argument to the contrary we will be coming onboard.

We've been concentrating recently on maximising gold production and have been keeping Broker fed at 100% tech; we have a healthy surplus after that, so could probably at least help to keep a second civ at 100%. Either yourself or Elkad, maybe?

my response Wrote:Well I can research, and research quick, but I'm incredibly
ridiculously expensive for it. But I can put out 281 beakers at -239

military. I'd like to see us get elkad so if you have contact with
him feel free to pressure him. He's not on list rego was going for.

Based on how his power is increasing though I think he's planning to
try hitting me soon or somebody at least.

Glad that you made it in and responded. I'm sure it will be interesting.

Also, I wanted to let you know that Sunrise informed me that his NAP with you prohibits me from using his land to attack you, something I was unclear on. As such, my 2 southern knights that I'm sure your HA has seen will be returning to my land before taking part in an attack (though they may defend themselves if you attack them)

message from Munro to group Wrote:Hi all,

As everyone presumably knows, it seems as though dsplaisted and regoarrarr have resigned from their respective alliances and look likely to take Kodii and sunrise with them as well. That's 3 of the 4 score leaders working together now, with us all as the targets sooner or later..

In the interests of survival, how about we draw together and form (yet) an(other) alliance of our own?

That would give us the following group of 7, not including:
- regoarrarr, dsplaisted
- Kodii: 'weighing his options' but didn't sound promising...
- sunrise: I haven't had any direct contact with myself, but sounds like he was always with regoarrarr. Anyone know either way?

That currently gives us the following group:

Yaz <old.mail.storage@googlemail.com> ,
Broker33 <Broker_33@yahoo.com>,
Elkad <davidetodd@gmail.com>,
Dreylin <league.of.lin@gmail.com>,
shadyforce <shadyforce@gmail.com>,
Imhotep <c4p.account@googlemail.com>,
Munro <munro.online@gmail.com>,

I'd suggest we would start by

1) making peace any of us who are at war (just Elkad and shadyforce I think?)
2) sign a formal, multilateral pact so we're all clear who our friends are now (e.g. rolling NAP with 15 term notice, with full tech sharing?)
3) share around any techs and resources we can
4) take stock of where we are strategically and start to co-ordinate.

On (3), Rome is a pretty junior partner in this game but I have been specializing in gold (about 50 gpt) and can share that for emergency upgrades, and / or to keep our main techers going (Elkad & Broker??)

On (4), Yaz was just attacked this turn by regoarrarr and I'll plan to help him where I can. I also have Kodii to my south, so if he falls the other way (as expected) then I'll work with broker there to try to make some inroads there too...

Is everyone in?

Munro

response from imo Wrote:I don’t really care, but I guess I’m in…would love to kill rego though tongue.
He should really have just put the effort in to find a replacement. Rather poor having somebody with that attitude playing along.

response from Lins Wrote:Hey guys,

First things first I've taken Shady off the list; we've been told in no uncertain terms that he is on the other side.

Secondly, Broker and I were approached yesterday by sunrise & rego to join their new alliance. Their stated goal is to shake up the static diplo, and give themselves a chance to take down Yaz. With us they were hoping to gain a 7-4 ascendancy on the rest of you. Broker and I both feel, however, that once that had been accomplished then we would be "next against the wall", and that we'd rather take our chances with you guys. (Broker is pretty busy irl at the moment, so has given me permission to speak for him ... mostly)

From what we can gather, the attacks on Elkad are going to be intensified as Shady's forces move away from rego's frontier, and rego is going to make a real push at Yaz. The terms of the previous NAP after the Lin/Incan war include sunrise, so he will not (at least initially) be contributing to that war effort. If Yaz can hold against rego, and Munro/Broker can make a stab at Kodi, then the Lins will do our best to help support Elkad.

Tech-wise, I think we are at a disadvantage; however while the other team have taken perhaps the "best" techers, they may not have got enough allies to feed them gold to keep them up to speed. We perhaps have the converse problem with not enough research capacity. Right now Elkad & Broker are our best bets, but I would also suggest that Lin starts to re-tool itself from a "gold" civ to a "research" - cheap Libs give us a good start, and we are away from the main frontlines, so other than building up our defense against sunrise and contributing to Elkad, we may be in the best position to devote hammers to Unis.

If the rest of you are agreeable, I would like to seek some sort of understanding between Lin and sunrise outside of the new alliance structure - something along the lines of a 10t cancellation rolling NAP. Our mutual border is both long and undeveloped - many forests/jungles - therefore would be very hard to defend. At least initially he would not be able to contribute to the rego/Yaz war, and there's not much space for him to expand into so it wouldn't be like we were giving him a free pass. This would allow us to devote ourselves to re-tooling and supporting Elkad & Yaz. This probably comes across as quite a self-serving request, so if anyone objects I'll take it back off the table; there's also no guarantee that sunrise would even go for it of course.

I suggest "The Rejects" as the name for our new alliance. 9-)

Can you hold your frontline cities (RR and SS) against Rego?

Might be able to hold RR. I've already abandoned SS and move the two WE I had there down, they'll be in RR next turn. There was just no reason to try holding both. A 1 POP city with nothing invested isn't worth spreading the forces.

Right now he doesn't have too much over there but I fully expect more units are coming up so will see then if it makes sense at all to pull back to ZZ which I'd prefer not to do as it leaves LL a bit open to attack as well and until my spys get over there it's going to be hard to track where his stacks are going.

Too bad all this just broke out as I was really starting to ramp up economy. Got a bunch more courthouses and markets, sitting at 93 gpt now.

I guess that's what Regoarrar is afraid of.

Any chance of an executive summary of all your communication? Those walls of text are a bit... massive. smile

Lins - Caught him when he was still out of the loop with what's going on. He didn't know about DSP leaving NUTA and that's what I was really talking about so he accidently confirmed for me that Reg had left UTA. Spoke a bit about where he sees things going and what's going on. Don't think he was too happy being so out of the loop and that I was the first to speak to him and not his allies.

Munro - We were already on good terms and good deals. Just discussed a bit about what was going down and my plans to form up a new alliance and who might be in it. He agreed that Reg was probably planning this for a while.

DSP - Couple chats to try and get the techs he owes me from during NUTA and having paid for them. Namely gunpowder. Eventually he just doesn't bother to respond. Lost a lot of respect for him and if I were continuing there would be no chance of him having me as an ally ever again for that backstab. MHK has done the same thing. As I told DSP, that move is the equivalent of getting something in exchange for a NAP and then turning around and breaking the NAP right after.

Regoarrarr - Not much said. He tries to pretend he's no talking to others and is on his own now going freelance and may want to make peace. I know it's all bullshit both from the way he's been acting and from talks with broker and lins and the fact dsp left NUTA at the exact same time. Poorly played there. I think he jumped the gun on this alliance because I spooked him by settling close.

Broker - Hasn't been approached by Reg yet at all which is surprising considering he always on the list of people he wanted in an alliance. I tell Broker I've got Munro and probably Lins in my group and would gladly accept him if he wants an alternative. Point out he probably doesn't want to be surrounded by enemies when he could just have MHK who already backed down from a war with him. Agree to send him a settler and two workers for the list of people rego is trying to recruit and to start off a good relation. Not a good deal tit-for-tat but settlers and workers aren't a problem to produce, the list was valuable to negotiations and it helped show he could get something he wants/needs from me while likely getting nothing from the other side.

I'd say Broker was key to it all as he was quite responsive and had good ties to Lins and Elk to bring them into the fold. Plus he had gunpowder so yay smile

Shady - I understand his position of being surrounded and it doesn't make sense to turn Reg down and be surrounded by enemies. I don't trust him though. Later I trust him less seeing his other messages, the force Rego has up north (no way they were fighting for real if Rego could move that big a force up) and that he's attacking Elk. So basically he's another that screwed over NUTA. I think now he's playing it rather poorly by trying to pretend like he's really somewhat neutral. The only way that's true is that he simply can't be trusted to be an ally to anyone it seems. I'll refer back to past promises while he was supposedly fighting Reg that he would never ever make peace, that he'll fight to the end etc...

-----

So essentially 'The Rejects' were formed because we were the ones nobody wanted or more so in my case, that everybody else wanted to take down I'd say hehe. Rego messed up though and what should have been a 7 or 6 vs 5 in his favour turned out to be a 6 vs 5 in our favour because he jumped the gun. Though we have perhaps the weaker players much like NUTA did, I don't think he has the same support in his group that ours does. He stepped on a lot of toes to make it happen while I got to come out as the victim being attacked and betrayed and trying to put something together to save us rejects.

If we can weather the first storm of wars then I have feeling this will go badly for him since I think our team has a lot more drive and reason to work closely together which can be seen in our quick tech sharing and people willing to cut quick deals and offer troop support. His side is a group that thought they'd be further out front then they are and that this would be a pushover. They all joined thinking they'd have easy street to the last 5-6 without having to risk themselves too much.

The key though is these wars. We NEED Elk to survive and be strong and we NEED to win the war with Rego. If we can take down even one of his cities then I think that's it for him, the game will have turned and his team moral will be low. If Elk falls or we lose either ZZ or LL then things go the other way.

The war of Munro and Broker vs MHK will be nice but I don't think it's as critical.
