CoL comes in this turn. Next turn I'll do a mini update go see the damage to bpt. I'm not far from Astro now though.
[SPOILER] Krill rambles on

The more I play this game, the more I wonder about how I should have played out the start and what effect smurfing has had. If I'd known TW was a newbie and not going to be a danger, I wonder if settling differently and cottaging ASAP would have been smarter? That copper location though was such a ballbreaker. I've kept on overextending since T60 simply to grab resources due to delayed development, but it's coming to a point where even with an insanely quick and cheap war against TW, I just need to stop and grow pop onto cottages, whip court houses and the like. But every time I try to stop doing that and grow, I end up being pushed into a race I don't want to take.
I'm also starting to make stupid mistakes with unit moves that I just wouldn't make if I was giving this game any attention, but that's just a cost of RL being too consuming. All the same, it's sapping what enthusiasm I have for the game and turning it into a grind. Seems like I need a break for a month or two, but TBH if this pace keeps up with the game I can see it ending by March.
You should enjoy your last Christmas as a free man.
Next year you are chained to this soon to be 100 city behemoth.
Heh. Fat jokes.
TBH I see this game as possibly being just that little bit too fast, meaning that we hit Astro and then some truly horrendous wars happen and, like earlier in the game, a good chunk of the players die unexpectedly. Someone (mack and Gav) end up in with these massive empires with mine being slightly smaller, and they can't really affect each other but I get put in a king maker role because I can affect either of them. Then something happens and I get blamed for some decision I made in reaction to how someone else plays aggressively. Then everyone argues and the game dies. Realistically, at this turn pace we hit T200 before the end of March. I expect the game to be finished by May. Next Xmas I'm going to be chained to some other civ in some other game.
Also, need to say, props to Gav, he just murdered Tsargon beautifully. I don't think I can get anything from a war with Tsargon now, at least not permenantly. Tsargon just got outmanouvered amazingly.

It's just finished, but still available. tl;dr invaded Tsargon and I lost 2 decent odds HA attacks, razed 2 cities, and captured 4 workers. Next turn could capture 0-2 cities but I'm happy with just getting the worker captures and borders cleared. |
