RB Pitboss #1 Spoilers - Joai of the Incans - Krill/Memphus

OK, wolf attacked and did 0 damage and both bears backed off...Q2 to 1 XP, Q1 to 2XP total.

just an fyi, but bears are the only barbs we have to worry about until axes turn up; archers aren't a threat with the Q

I fucked up a worker MM, lost a turn of irrigating a grassland river tile; that'll cost us around t80...stupid mistake to make really.

Also, we think Regoarrarr is slaving...

Chat with Sunrise:

Quote:Sunrise089: hi Krill
I don't know you typed anywhing earrlier, all I see is "back"
Krill: it's enough
Sunrise089: I've been having some internet issues today
Krill just said I'd like to chat
if that is OK with you
Sent at 7:12 PM on Thursday
Sunrise089: yes, lovely
Krill: You read the email I sent?
Basically I just saw you email, typed that out
sent it, had dinner, came back and there you were
Sent at 7:14 PM on Thursday
Krill: You still around?
Sunrise089: yes
Krill: just busy?
Sunrise089: sorry Kirll, I am definately here
yeah, I'm at work, so I'm trying to multi-task
Krill: np
Sunrise089: I read your response email. Let me give you some more details
Krill: oh, thanks!
Sunrise089: first, you're right - I am heading to monarchy
I have not decided where to go after that, it will depend on some trades
and as I told you via email, I have deals for Math and Alpha lined up
Sent at 7:21 PM on Thursday
Sunrise089: Once you or I get alpha, I'm definately happy to trade for writing, if I have something you want. Likewise after maths comes Calendar, Currency, and Construction, and i don't have firm deals to trade for any of those techs.
Krill: Well, there is an interesting thing about No tech brokering in large games
the games always fractionate along tech lines
so currently from our angle it looks like there are 3 of you who are working well together
Well, your offf line, but I carry on anyway
We'd like to know who is researching what, is all
and then maybe find something decent to research to break into the trading circle
Sunrise089: Well I've told you what I'm researching.
and in total honesty, my path after Mon isn't set, and no trades are locked up for the stuff that comes after Maths. Of course I do hope to trade for those techs, but there are so many techs available early that I don't even have enough civs I've met to cover all of them, even if i could trade with everyone.
Sent at 7:26 PM on Thursday
Krill: Well, I understand your point. But as you said there are other early techs
MC, for instance, IW
archery, sailing etc
Sunrise089: Anyways, I'd never try to tell you what to research. If you're interested though, I think the best early opportunities for us to tech trade are for cheaper techs when alpha comes on the scene (I need Animal Husbundry and writing, among others) and then something after Maths
Krill: If you could tell me who you are trading with for what, specifically who is going for maths, then We're very willing to change our tech route to get monarchy and maths
We only have contact with the Lins atm
but we may have a woody 2 Q shortly, the one next to your land, that we can beeline off to make contact with
we want to get Ah next
but here is a question for you...
if you already have deals for maths and alpha lined up, why don;t you have writing in with the deal?
because you can;t recieve either of them without writing
and hence can't ever trade for writing off us
Ah
think I made a typo earlier
"We would change our tech route to get the smaller techs to trade for monaarchy and maths"
that's better
Sunrise089: well my idea for writing would be:
Sent at 7:33 PM on Thursday
Sunrise089: Krill gets alpha from some other source, trades me writing. I complete trade for alpha and maths. I sort of assumed there is a second party going for alpha - I've only met a few peopl
me: ah
We'd be very willing to do that
Sunrise089: but yes, that isnt a very refined plan
Krill: Our biggest problem is finding people
You are luckier in that you started more towards teh centre
we started 3 tiles from the edge
then scouted out a stupid peninsula
Sent at 7:35 PM on Thursday
Sunrise089: Do you know if the map only wraps east-to-west? Some of us through it might be torriodal
Krill: it's not
We found that out on t5...
Sunrise089: gotcha
Krill: So...
would you be willing to say who is researching maths and alpha to trade to you?
because tbh a 4 member research alliance is probably strong enough to power straight though to CS by t90
Sent at 7:39 PM on Thursday
Krill: OK
I know you may want to think about that
Sunrise089: I will think about it and reply
Krill: np
sufficed to say though, if one of them is the Lins...
Sunrise089: obviously it gets tricky to act totally unilaterally, ya' know. I guess I at least dont also have to consult with a partner smile
Krill: eh
the trick in a good partnership is trust in the other players skills
Sunrise089: yeah, I'm sure a partner would help make me not make the many many errors I'll make this game. I just have the slight real-life advantage of never having to consult if I dont want to
Krill: (In addition to above) if one of them is the Lins and I can persuade them to trade for something like IW/small tech, would youu be interested in trading for IW off me?
yeah, that's always a nice advantage
Sent at 7:42 PM on Thursday
Sunrise089: Let me try to send a few emails, and I promise you the most complete reply possible when I hear back, ok?
Krill: sure, np
would you have a time line for hte replies?
just a best guess, really
Sunrise089: I will say, in meta-game honesty, that I wouldn't have minded meeting you first. I'm most scared of your team, and I'd prefer to have made nice long-term friendly deals if it were possible
I expect to be able to get back to you within 12 hours. It could be sooner if I can catch people online.
Krill: that's Brilliant timing.
Thanks for the chat
Sunrise089: np
Sent at 7:47 PM on Thursday
Krill: (and in meta game terms...) this is an 11 player game. It won't resolve to a 1v1, a 1v1v1 is more likely or maybe a 4 alliance game. I just hope that we can make a four team alliance.

Overall, it was to be expected. We started out on the periphery, went Wb/worker first. Now I'm not too worried though; I think The Lins will offer a tech deal (and I'm fairly sure they are teching maths or alpha for Sunrise) if we offer them IW+small tech for it.

New World Map.

http://i554.photobucket.com/albums/jj417...mapt44.jpg

Q1survived a bear attack, 5/5 XP, and 0.0 health left (4hp). It gets the prmo next turn, so I asked Sunrise if there are any barbs to his NW; if their aren't we are moving there so we are certain Q1 doesn't die. Next turn he can promote, and heal for 5 turns then carry on exploring. We really need to start finding other teams.

Q4 will be built after we chop a terrace at AA. BB is currently working a ghm and is due to finish worker 5 on eot t46. Worker 4 is being built in AA, due eot this turn. Settler 3 is due eot t50 out of BB, whereas AA is on to a terrace after this turn then up to size 6.

Little strange is this map. I see a pork swimming in the ocean, a fish crawling on the desert, and a crab climbing a hill crazyeye oh and underwater wine too. :wink2:

I was using Satellite view, which screws with the overlays. I'm not bothered enough about it to change it (as this is only for dotmapping purposes between me and memphus), but sufficed to say that all resources are 2N of where the pointers say they are.
