well, I can't connect, so it's hard to play.
So, the plan I had doesn't work, but never fear! there's a new plan. I had forgotten that I just finished AH - it looks like I have horses, and I think they are on a road already! man, that's a great city site - corn, horses, gems and super-fish.
New plan:
Move both workers to the horse - I think one can start improving it, the other can't get there yet.
Leave the settler in the cap.
Change the cap build to a warrior.
Move the warrior in plague far enough so it can enter the cap next turn.
Move the scout IW, onto the grass hill. I'm guessing that if he's sending out settler, he's not attacking me, but one axe can't take two defenders.
Pick writing as my next tech.
If the warrior by my southeast city isn't on a road, put it there and change it's build to a warrior, too.
thx, Commodore. Sorry to ask you to do this. I think we should take side bets as to how many civs you do fill-in duty for.

You forgot to mention whales!

I camped the ivory for a turn en route.

I did forget the whales, mainly because it will be so long before I can use them. I guess I'll need that lighthouse there earlier than I thought. I may not even need a granary in that city to do some serious whipping. In any case, I think that place is going to be an awesome settler pump, with (I think) 20 food hammers with horse, irri corn, gems, whale, fl fish and plains hill. 5 turn settlers... not shabby.
Again, thanks, commodore.

right - rbmod. Huh. Guess sailing is a priority for me. Assuming Moloch doesn't overrun me and I can work out my connection issues, I'll be in pretty good shape - 3 luxuries, bunch of choppables, horse and copper and it looks like a fair amount of land to expand into, particularly west.

I should probably update more, because something might be happening (it is not).
Moloch moved his axe SE, away from me, towards a barb. The barb near me cut the road. I moved settler and two warriors next to the barb in the woods - one of the warriors is woods I, so good luck there.
I switched techs to sailing.
I need to consider hitting Moloch with a couple of chariots - taking one of his cities from him. I have a rep as a passive player, I think, so some early aggression could be very useful. Course, upsetting an aggressive civ is not always a smart idea - but then, I'm Rome!!

so, I'm a little worried about Moloch:
That's 3 aggressive axes, at least two with promos. Barbs aren't that big a deal, though I guess as an aggressive civ he's using barracks as monuments, so everything will get a promo.
I think he's coming for me, though he's going to have a hard time with it. I'll have 3 chariots soon and I'm researching archery. Plus, my front cities are getting border pops soon.
Maybe it's just defense, since Coimbra is definitely not a safe plant for him. it's closer to my cap than his and it's not even on a hill - it's pretty vulnerable if he doesn't get some spears in there.
Chickenpox and Plague both expand next turn, which means I get my insane fish tile and can start improving gems for Chickenpox. I'll whip in chariots. One issue with moloch being a pain and the barb issue is that I am light on infra, like granaries, so whipping is a pain. And, of course, in RBMod whipping's a little nerfed anyway.

well, he's not making threatening moves - he seems to be using the axes as anti barb units. I'm ok with - I may almost finish archery and go back to sailing and if he comes towards me, switch back.
I did found the copper city, calling it Measles. No workers near it, so it'll take a while to get going.

Well, Moloch is being a pain.
That forces me to whip in 3 chariots and finish off archery. Pretty much no matter what, I think he and i will be at war next turn.
Take cases:
1) He moves 2 axes to A. I gotta kill one of them and build an archer in Plague. I'll lose the chariot to the other axe (unless the scout can cover it, of course), but the 2nd chariot (from Strep) will make short work of it.
2) He moves 1 axe to A and one axe to C. I'll kill the one at A and steal the worker with the one whipped in at chickenpox.
3) He moves 1 axe to A and one axe to B. I might kill the one at A and leave the one at C alone so I can kill it and then worker steal the next turn. More likely, I'll kill it and make him scramble.
3) he declares and moves to D and E. that is pretty nonsensical, but I'd probably leave the axe at D alone and take the worker, moving the other chariot from Strep to chickenpox to covre.
4) He does nothing.
I don't know - I might delcare to kill his worker, just to inconvenience him, since he's forcing me from my nice farmers gambit. I might sit. I don't really know.
In any case, after archery will come sailing.

btw - I've been fairly careful to play after Moloch the past few turns, assuming he was coming after me. I generally assume that the person declaring should go first, but if i declare to get a tactical advantage, I'll deal with the dissonance.
