Ok, quick update. I'm working together with plako to plan how this alliance is going to work. As long as we work together, and keep it confidential, I'm confident that we can take down parkin. My biggest worry is that regoarrar might rat us out, or sneak attack while we're busy. Mackoti might also take the opportunity to attack me. I havent talked to him in a while... I should message him and renew our NAP.
Long term, if parkin goes down I doubt I'll be able to keep up with plako and Locke in economy. I'm going to pursue a cultural victory. Nobody else has music yet, so I'll get the sistine chapel easily (starting it next turn). With luck, everyone will be so distracted by the giant war that they won't notice my culture going up. Even if they do notice, I'll have NAP's with most people, and hopefully I can pull it off before they can stop me.
The biggest problem I have now is... which cities should I use? What I'd LIKE to do is use these southern cities. They've got high food, and aren't doing much else. Peacemonger has the national epic, which will really help in artist production. Out of bounds has the SP, and soon the forbidden palace and sistine chapel. Biddy Early could get a lot of food surplus with the lakes and grass farms.
However... they're also quite vulnerable to attack, especially Biddy Early. I'd really prefer not to use cities that are exposed to the southern coast. Instead, these northern cities would be much easier to defend. Kinsale and Lagash would be good possibilites with high food surplus. The capital would also be good, although I'd prefer to have it keep working cottages.
I need to think about this some more. Right now I'm not seeing any good combination of cities that could both pump out lots of culture, and be easy to defend. Murphy's would be ideal, but I want that city to keep producing units. I definitely want peacemonger though- lots of food, and the national epic bonus for artists.
