[SPOILERS!] Pericles of Babylon. Kyan, Twinkletoes, Whosit.

Here's a big info dump, mainly for my benefit.

Quote:me: Actually, while we're still here, I should ask this:
What would be most useful for me to catch up on when I am able to?
(hopefully by the end of this week)
KPW: in terms of your knowledge diplomatically?
me: Whether diplo knowledge, game-plan/unit moves, etc.
KPW: ok, well reading chats between me and willemofo and capac.mali arent bad ideas
tho be warned, my convo's meander into randomness a lot
and if you post any to thread, be very careful
some bits will need to be deleted
apart from that
worker micro wouldnt be bad
i want gold city founded asap
me: OK. If you can, post a current worker-plan so I can work from that.
KPW: and each city needs to ensure its not working any unimproved tiles
there is no fixed written plan
me: Alright. Then I'll just look at what's there and work from that.
KPW: levi has 2 super food resources, it's growing to size 4 and then whip the granary
it's gonna grow insanely fast
i would like both floodplains cottaged and being worked asap
the city also will want a library when poss
exodus needs to build 2 spearmen
i will ensure we have hunting wihin 2 turns
via trade
just in case byz get funny
feel free to do what you want with the tiles there
it currently has 4 improved. copper, pigs, FP hamlet and riverside grassland cottage
me: OK, heh. Um, though keep in mind, don't expect me to play until I post in the thread that "I am playing."
KPW: cant get masonry til we meet india
yeah i know
im just giving you an update on what i have been thinking about next
Genesis will have to turn its scientists off after we pop first
we need it bigger
Exodus is a production center with some small commerce on the side
Genesis will be a commerce factory initially (especailly considering the academy) but have potent production long term
levi is pure commerce
Deutronomy will need to work cows til at least size 2 and then we need the gold
the pasture has already had 2 turns into it on the cows there
when i had spare worker turns
Lev also needs connecting to capital but this can be done via 1 road to connect to the river
exodus is also granary-less
but has higher priorities right now
we soon have our fifth worker as requested
me: That's a lot of info.
KPW: indeed
we'll have to see maintenance situation after city 4
before considering expanding. we can't butcher tech rate or we become rather useless to our funders
me: True.
Well, technically, more cities does not decrease our tech rate . . .
only requires more income.
KPW: granted but until currency
the two are in direct correlation
me: Ah, yes.
No one has currency yet, of course.
KPW: but i have a match
im off mate take care

Man, that's a lot of info for me to keep track of! I hope to have more time to devote to this game by the end of the week, so hopefully I can get to work on some of this. But, this should also provide some info on the general direction of things, I suppose.

Ha i was thinking of pasting this here myself. Cheers pal.

Because that's how my g-mail account named you. Not sure why.

Sorry for lack of updates!

Ok, so what's happened...

Us and Mali have joined the hydra. We will be researching currency and them calendar.

We first need Maths tho, Carthage has a unit in Egypt that will head towards us and Wyrmsbane will go that way also. We now have contact with Egypt.

Krill is trying to persuade me to attack Byz. We have a military protection pact with Maya in regards to Byz only. I agreed to this, on Maya's suggestion, as it's a win-win situation for us. I don't WANT to attack Byz right now but if they do get funny- after all, we did kind of shaft them- they have forces pounding into their rear line which will stop their attack before it truly starts. We can then slam into their lands and build some expansion room.

On that front, Krill has offered us units to attack Byz in exchange for 2 sites that are 'at most 1-2 tiles nearer Byz' than himself. The wording was fairly precise so it could well mean from Byz' capital to his newest city etc. I don't trust him at all BUT for now, we need to play along.

People are looking to form a mini-bloc of Krill, us, Carthage, England, Mali and maybe Maya. This isn't my idea but it's not horrific. It gives us all the best techers in the game and gives a north vs south divide.

Maya, after we discussed it with them and argued their cause with Krill are researching metal casting. This is a valuable tech and they will get it waaaay faster than India. This chip could help them get back into the game in terms of tech. This is great news as these guys will be strong allies. Mark my words!

France is going to come under heavy attack soon free'ing up space to our direct north. The land between us two is, unfortunately, atrocious though so not sure how much use this will be.

We need to get out to 4 cities ASAP, 5 soon really. Gold site and then watchman hill. The horse site is feasible although very poor. It does give us horses though which will be important later on.

Byz are the only ones who replied to us from Heracles:

Byz Wrote:Greetings Kyan of Babylon,

We are disappointed to learn of your recent decisions to approach the Hydra, and to unilaterally leave the Heracles alliance with no advance warning or notification. While we can understand the choice from a survivalist point of view, it just doesn't make a lot of sense in the meta-game. By trading with the Hydra, Babylon will essentially cause its prominent members to advance even faster than before. We presume that it is not your intent to ensure for another civilization to emerge victorious instead of you, yet your actions are setting this course regardless.

The council has been deliberating on the recent developments and, while long-term planning is still underway, we will continue to support our remaining allies. Fortunately not all Heracles members have fallen sway to the Hydra, and we value their friendship. Additionally, we are not interested in making further deals with either Babylon or Mali for as long as this advances a cause that we oppose.

On behalf of the Spectre Council,
-SleepingMoogle

I do feel guilty about them but i think this was our only chance of remaining competitive.

Well, that's about the response you expected. Biggest shame is that they are right next door. So, of course, I support an attack against them. devil

I would still move with caution as to the when and where of such an attack. Gotta keep it on our terms, not on Byzantium's, nor our allies'.

Anyway, I think I see the light at the end of the tunnel in my personal life. I might need a week more to get fully caught up, but my goal *crosses fingers* is to start chipping away at the e-mail starting tomorrow, and maybe logging in to the game, as well. I'm not sure that I can make promises, though, since in order to meet one deadline, I've ignored several others. shhh

So, yeah. But! I'm sure that this will all be behind me long before the game is over. lol Hang in there, Kyan!

haha i knew you'd be up for an attack! Right now though, we need to get currency at a decent rate so as to not piss off our new allies tongue

I totally agree about keeping the attack on our terms. Krill can dance to our tune, NOT vice versa.

Well, in terms of game time, i am going to need one of you two to help this weekend. I'll be on a business trip in Holland. Yeah. Business. shhh

Perhaps you can cover this weekend and i'll cover your Rome one for the weekend you're away next month?

Ha. Yeah man that would be superb, only asked Whosit as he was there. See his big random info dump on my thoughts right now.

you know, the more i look at our land the happier i am. With France soon gone and Rome in trouble, we actually have around 6 more strong city sites without even getting near to upsetting anyone or treading on toes. I bet the 'non-desert' civs cant say that. It's clearer a quantity > quality scenario but if byz do attack us- that quickly changes.

I'm sure that both I and TT can cover the weekend. I'll make sure to get caught up before then. Yeah. Will we need to cover the diplomacy, as well?

Man, France seems to be the unlucky one. Well, not counting those who already got wiped out. smile Take that, you beret wearing sissies! (No offense meant to real French people.) Since I haven't quite followed all the diplo, I'm not sure how they managed to get so reviled. I recall that they just didn't make it into the Hydra, and we left them out in the cold because we weren't sure where their loyalties lay.

Oh well, should be an interesting ride.
