Krill Wrote:My apologies to anyone who feels left in the dark, but I took some time to think about how to handle some of the requests for access to the blog. After considerable thought, I feel it's necessary to restrict access to the blog to some degree. While this is atypical for Realms Beyond there are several unique characteristics about both this game and its lurkers:
*This is an overtly entertaining game, and I'm approaching it with a more educational spirit than most RB events.
*Some lurkers do not all share our sportsmanship and sense of fair play. There have been instances of censorship in past Pitboss games, as well as similar instances in other civ games from lurkers.
*I need the blog to be a place where I can be totally candid. Several lurkers have indicated they would feel a chilling effect on what I would be willing to post or discuss with unlimited entry to the blog. Of course most people would prove trustworthy, but past experience has shown a mere suspicion of hypocrisy can be unsettling to players.
Therefore I have made the decision to restrict entry to some requesters. While no bright line test was used, I felt it was important to see either some level of inclusion given to new posters, or lack of membership to the democracy game.
I don't do this lightly, and I may revisit this decision during the course of the game. Additionally a team is already in place to publicly share some information about the game so the larger lurker community can still have a window into it.
Of course the multiple other pitboss games and dozens of PBEMs will remain open to lurk. And, when this demogame concludes its subforum will be opened and unrestricted as well. Maybe.
I hope this helps explain some of our reasoning behind this decision.

So you think the solution to other people being jerks is to be a jerk yourself. I just lost all the last pieces of respect for your position. You know you won't convince anyone this way, right? You don't change people's minds by treating them as the enemy. You do it by setting an example.
You, here, were setting a good example. That was the absolute correct way to try to convince people that membership should be open. Boycotting the MTDG is fine too. You miss out on being able to argue as a member of the group, which I think is quite valuable, but you do get to demonstrate solidarity with the excluded.
Your behavior here though has just been lame. Leaving 34v without a word, halting reporting here... it just comes across as childish and does nothing to further the cause of openness.

- Have a sense of humour, MWIN at least sees the funny side.
- I've not done anything that 77 people on this site haven't already done. The whole point here is to generate some empathy for those that have been excluded. How you feel now is pretty much how they felt when they were told to go away. It's not nice, is it?
- Everyone that wasn't part of the DG already had an invite before I posted the original post. All but 1 accepted...and I think that was because of a spam folder.
- Most of the turn reports are up already. I even have formatted copies ready to post over here if I ever decide I want to do that.
- It is not just up to individuals to be open, a community as a whole needs to do it. This is the path the community will go down because of the actions with the DG. If over 75% of the forum don't want to be open, and that is the forum ethos, don't blame me for not posting turn reports.
Regarding 34V I told Cyneheard and scooter I wasn't playing it any more. Perhaps they misinterpreted what I wrote.

I was bothered and offended by the demogame decision and I'm bothered and offended by your decision too. I guess we just fundamentally disagree on this. I hope I'm wrong and you manage to change some peoples' minds.

I agree your point i.e. openess for newcomers would be better, but you've gone way overboard. If the most active members of the team feel that restrictions are nescessary, I'm not gonna start judging them and I think you shouldn't either. Primarily this is their game and if they need restrictions to have fun then so be it. If you want to really affect this, join the team be active and convince others that your way is right. Now you are just barking from the sidelines that really won't do any good to anyone.

I'm kind of baffled by your antagonistic attitude too.
I made a couple of posts within the demogame thread in opposition to the ban. But I don't think it's a massive deal, and none of the lurkers you're championing really seem to either. You are the only one who seems to think this is a massive issue... And I don't understand why. Is this really worth all the fuss?

Yes.

That's because they don't have any choice in the matter: a few have gone to CFC and finally managed to get on that team. But just because someone has given up doesn't mean that what was done to them was right.

Rank hypocrisy. Seven was at least consistent.

Chipping in my two cents, this bit of drama in this thread has been hilarious. However dropping out of the 3CC game without a word was extremely poor form.

Unless you know Krills reasons for dropping out of that game, which I doubt, then you can't really judge him on it.
Krill clearly feels very strongly about this subject. Personally, I disagree with him. We are all humans. Humans have been disagreeing about shit since day dot. The world would be a damned boring place if we didn't. His thread is his thread and he's welcome to do whatever he wants with it. Leave him be.
All the best in winning PB5 mate.
