Well, I've read the e-mails up to a week ago. I'll read them again, later, but I think I have a better idea of where we stand.
At least I don't have to play, now. :neenernee

I checked in on the game. Made a couple signs. Gave Leviticus less food. I don't know how we'll stagnate it without becoming unhappy. We'd have to work a Grassland tile, actually, and a Scientist. So I suggest building a grassy Cottage.
Oh, and that Barbarian Warrior is surely going to pillage our Copper mine before we can get there to stop him. We should send our Worker pair over, too. Whosit Wrote:I checked in on the game. Dang, i read your note after moving units Well, copper isn't needed in the immediate future so we can spare it a few turns. spaceman is ready to take him out next turn. I don't understand about your Leviticus plan. Why cottage a grassland over a floodplain? We will be gifted heridtary rule in the not so distant future (England are doing it now), and even if it's gonna overgrow before then- so what, we can either over-grow and whip OR press the 'stall growth' button- whatever it's name is. Am i missing something obvious?? Thanks for covering whilst i was away though, even if i timed the weekend in Amsterdam rather perfectly! Kyan Wrote:I don't understand about your Leviticus plan. Am i missing something obvious?? I forgot we'd be getting Monarchy in trade soon. A couple problems with over-growing, so I usually avoid it unless I need extra people to whip (but whipping this city further without increasing the happy cap would be stupid, frankly): Increases maintenance, and the extra person eats food but doesn't contribute, which often makes it harder to balance food and tiles. I did forget about the stall-growth option, just because I try to avoid using it. If you flip it on, make a big sign that says "CITY ON AVOID GROWTH!" so that we don't forget. Even veteran players have forgotten to take their cities off avoid growth, leading to many wasted turns. Might not be a bad option in this case, though.
Ok, so we met Rome and France now also.
I'm being friendly to France as i see no reason not to. They're nice people and them delaying England/Krill wouldn't be the worst news ever even if we will probly end up in bed with those 2. Rome threatened our Axeman with their first email. A threat i know is hollow. I tried to play nice and offered them a short term NAP to ensure them we are just passing thru on our ways to other civ's. They declined my NAP and basically said they don't trust my word so why make agreements. They also further re-iterated that my axeman needs to leave pronto. I might have over-reacted slightly. My response was along the lines of: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kL8z4CmqeFw F you. I won't do what you tell me. Their main gripe is that they think i told Portugal where there iron was- which i didn't. I don't even know where it is heh. I asked Portugal about it and apparently it was just guesstimating. They had explored two directions around them already and saw the settler with a scouting warrior. Easy to figure from there. Mukha sent this nice email to allow us to get our last contacts: Mukha Wrote:[COLOR="PaleGreen"]Hey guys, this was sent to India, Aztec and Ottomans.
Thank goodness I logged in to check in on things! What's going on?
Well, the game is paused again for some reason, but no matter. Let's look at what our cities are doing, shall we? Genesis: Settler, I can understand. OK. Exodus: Should be building a soldier, even a Bowman. NOT a Settler. Leviticus: Now, if we work the pigs and Rice, we can get a Settler out in 10 turns! Compare to 12 turns in Exodus. Exodus can also build a Bowman in 12 turns, compared to 22 in Leviticus (and don't even THINK about whipping again!! ). The two Workers near Leviticus should build a road towards our gold-town site. We also need the Copper back online, and something stronger than a Warrior to guard our east border from Barbarians or something. Exodus should do some troops, I think, after the Settler. Our military is too thin for my liking.
OK, since no one responded, I took the liberty of making my changes.
Exodus was switched to a Bowman, and reconfigured for more hammers, less food (it would grow into unhappiness). Bowman: 5 turns; Growth (and unhappy): 5 turns. I recommend setting the city to Avoid Growth in 4 turns until the whip anger wears off. It is currently working a forested plains hill, but when the Copper is re-mined, work that. Might require us to Avoid Growth a bit earlier, since the plains tile produces food. Leviticus was switched to the big food tiles and a Settler. It is due in 10 turns, and the city is of course stagnated while this is going on. One of the angry people will get back to work in 4 turns, so that can be assigned the flood plains cottage, for additional income and food/production towards the Settler. Genesis should probably build a Barracks after the Settler so that it can meaningfully contribute towards our army. It should also grow into the mine we built. I have laid out a series of signs (please look at them!) suggesting the best way to lay down a series of roads. It will take a total of 7 turns to build it with our Worker Pair (I renamed one of the Workers that had no name, hope that's OK). For the most part, I took the path of least resistance, but it WILL end up connecting Exodus to Leviticus and will make a path towards our gold site. The road will cut the Settler's travel time from 3 turns to 2 turns. I might even recommend building another Worker out of either Genesis or Leviticus after their current builds. We have a lot of work to do and we are spread out pretty far. The Road Plan: As I hope is self-evident, build the roads in order according to the number given.
Thanks for that Whosit. I agree with your changes.
News for this turn: Hanging Gardens was built- i'd hazard a guess at india due to fast workers and industrious. We met Carthage and requested Math. I'll send Wyrmsbane north to meet more people. Though- it's up to you guys- it might be worth bringing him home. We will shortly be meeting all the other civs cept HRE in the south with our axeman and Wyrmsbane is costing us maintenance. Altho he is providing some vital info and as woody2 is an awesome unit for that. I moved 'road 5' two tiles west. It's practically the same but it'll be more efficient in long term with the other city in that direction. Chop completed so settler due next turn. Byz have a chariot on our borders that would get odds on razing Leviticus if they declared war. There's nothing we could do about it to stop it if they chose to do this. BUT we have a NAP with them and they can't see inside the city so would be a massive gamble to break a NAP for an off-chance. Byz will settle their 4th city at their copper next turn. It has a garrison of one warrior. Not that we'll be attacking it in that window of opportunity anyhow. Just saying Whosit! Kyan Wrote: Whosit! But of course. Hmm. I would bring Wyrmsbane home if he has no better use. Our lack of military is pretty distressing. I strongly urge some major military builds after this round of Settlers. We most certainly have bring some forces to our east to protect us if the Byzantines get funny ideas. How long does our NAP last, and do you really trust them? NAPs are still paper shields, no matter what one thinks. |
