Just goes to show you what a snowball game Civ is. We definitely fell behind focusing on GLH. The real question is will that allow us to catch up or not

Well you still have premium land available, and with TGL nothing is stopping you from spamming settlers. Do you have any idea how much land the different players have available and where you fall on that scale?
I have to run.

The one downside of NTT.
I can see how you catch up GNP, eventually. Maybe. I don't see how you catch up in population/production.

So that's good - we'll settle Columbia next turn.

Quote:Okay - we're on track to settle next turn. I think that the next thing that should happen is plan the actual city sites. Rather than talking abstractly about where the borders might be, let's put our city sites down. Do you feel that you have enough map information to do that? We don't know where the iron is but that's the only missing resource (other than the late ones which we won't have for some time anyways). Adlain and mackoti may throw a wrench in things but if we can present a united front like you talked about, I think we should be able to work things out to both of our benefit.
So we'll be 1SE of the clams, and you talked about 2N of the horses maybe. With those cities (and the ones that you have already placed), where might you want to consider placing the city east of clams? In terms of our easternomst city, it's tough to try and be on the coast and grab the southern ivory. Maybe 2E of the rice? Or perhaps we go off the coast? (boo!) :-) Or maybe 2SW of the ivory (1N of the peak) and we have a separate inland city west of the ivory (depending on where you plant)?
As for the longer term arrangement, I think we're open to that - do you have any specifics that you'd like to propose? If you don't mind, it's probably easier if you type something up that I can take to sunrise. He's usually pretty good at responding to things but it can be harder to get him to come up with something. Personally I think he's just waiting in the wings to steal all the glory ;-)
I'm glad that we are getting things worked out - and we're looking forward to a great relationship with you.

Quote:Hey Rego,
Our wandering warrior is still in your lands and will be close to your border again soon.
Can we pass your lands on the way to someone else and can you give directions?
Also, since we're so far apart, maybe you are interested in sharing some more info?
Kind regards,
Nakor

Quote:Sure - where is your warrior and where is he trying to go? We'd be happy to help you get wherever you need? Did you enjoy your scenic trip through the wild? :-)
As for sharing more info, I think that makes a lot of sense. What kind of information would you like to talk about? As far as the map goes, it seems like everyone has a pretty good idea of who goes where and such. We just now circumnavigated the globe. Only 36 turns too late!!! :-) I'm still blown away at how fast plako did it.
Speaking of plako, I'm beginning to get a little concerned about this game is possibly going to end in anything but a victory for either him or Lord Parkin. Unfortunately, I don't know what can possibly be done about that. Any ideas? I know you share a border with plako but taking him on 1v1 is probably a little scary.
Did you have other ideas on information?

Blah blah blah walls of text
Here's a picture
Notice all those little trade icons in the score box. We have trade icons (ability to trade resources) with a full 5(!) civs, but trade routes only with SleepingMoogle. If I understand things, that means that plako, WK and Nakor have trade routes from us (Lord Parkin would but we don't have open borders).
As I understand it (and there's a great article on CFC about it), with Sailing, in order to get a trade route, each coast tile between your lands and the other civ's has to be either defogged by you or owned by a non-hostile civ (OB not required just not at war).
To get the trade route icon, only one of the civs has to have a trade route (called an "uni-directional" trade route). That allows the one civ (say, WarriorKnight) to have trade routes with me, and for both civs to be able to trade resources.
So if you look at the picture above, this is our warrior moving SE from Bob's Fork. The assumption is that WarriorKnight had defogged all the coast north to our southernmost city of Colerain. There were definitely some tiles that we had NOT defogged, which is what this warrior's mission was. He's now defogged all of the coast, and you can see WK's borders (2S of the pigs). So I believe we have achieved all of the conditions, and when the trade routes are re-calculated at the flip of the turn, we should get a trade route with this WK city (and probably his whole empire, assuming he's got everything connected by roads).
I believe that my trade routes go through WK's lands to plako and Nakor, so if everything goes right, we should get a full complement of trade routes at the turn flip.
We currently have 5 cities which is 15 trade routes, and only 8 SleepingMoogle cities. Adding in 3 trade routes from our new city that we found, we should gain 13 extra commerce next turn.
