No, though that's a fairly loaded example (you picked the worst trait of those getting the penalty and one of the worse remaining traits to compete with the better two penalized traits).

I would also be willing to have FIN/EXP/CRE/India/Inca cost 2t each. My rough guess is that's closer to fair (compared to the next tier) than 1 or 3. For example I think EXP/SPI with +2 turns is competitive with FIN/CRE. Hard to tell without trying though.

As for the turn disadvantage: I get the feeling I am the only one who is concerned by the trait-balance. And as all 4 of you are better players and have more experience than I do I maybe do make more of an issue out of it than it really is. So, lets just sail with that 1 turn order disadvantage for FIN/EXP/CRE/India/Inca and be done with it.

That said: Do we have someone for the map? I really would like to get started on thinking about how to play the start best. smile

I jad mentioned I could map earlier but I domt think it was commented on. If it is still something minimal than I can do it, I'm short on time the next few days. However if I'm just running sevens map script, checking for balance, and throwing improvements around I SHOULD be able to get that done soon no problem.

If anyone else with more time or experience wants it though feel free to override me.

Aren't they playing on mirrorland (the fairest mapscript of them all)?
If so all they really need are the improvements.
Erebus in the Balance - a FFH Modmod based around balancing and polishing FFH for streamlined competitive play.

Hey Brick, thank you. smile It would be great if you would create us a map. You were also spot on (imo) that there only needs to be a completely mirrored map created and some improvements have to be thrown down randomly (was Sevens map able to do that on it's own already? I know he mentioned it as something he wanted to implement). Just make sure that everyone has the same improvements thrown down (=improvements should be mirrored as well). Maybe Seven can comment on that but I would estimate that something around 8 - 12 improvements per player should be fine (thats one every 25 to 40 tiles, counting all tiles).

Apart from that I think we agreed (for map settings) on

Prince difficulty
no barbs
torodial world-wrap

I think you probably should also turn on "critical resources close". Last a check for a least one boatable sea (more than 20 water tiles) should be done as well I think, just for the strategic value it adds.

After that, please post a screenie here of the start with resources and tile yields turned on.

-preplaced improvements for pillaging
-a 2-turn penalty for each of Fin/Exp/India, and a 1-turn penalty for each of Cre/Inca/Byz/Rome.
-Decide turn order first, picks go from last in turn order to first in turn order twice, no snake.

Please, no helpful lurker roll any dice for us until we've agreed on all settings.

-preplaced improvements for pillaging
-a 2-turn penalty for each of Fin/Exp/India, and a 1-turn penalty for each of Cre/Inca/Byz/Rome.
