[SPOILERS] Turning in the widening gyre: Thoth has another go at BTS

t12 was dull. Worker farmed, scout relocated and revealed no new tiles.

t13 will be more of the same.

t14 Farm completes and scout starts exploring the east.

It also occurs to me as I see someone only making 2h/turn in the Demo screen that one of the fishing civs may have settled on the Wines.
It wasn't Commodore as he went Ag first, so it may have been Pindicator. Or someone is still working Cows instead of the Deer. Damfino what's going on there. huh

More speculation: Hmmmm. Settler first while timing religion to found in second city. Working Deer for 5 t until border pop = 30 hammers into settler. Settler done eot 19 if cows are worked. Settler moves t20, settles on ivory t21. End of turn 21 Budhism founds in expansion city.

13 and 14 played.

Commodore made contact from the east and had another 6 point score increase at eot 13. He finished his first tech eot 9 so there is something a bit odd going on over there. wink

Forgot to grab a screenie but there is wet wheat to the southeast and it's looking like city 3 will go on the PH to the southeast.

6 point score increases for Oxy, dtay and Pindicator at eot 14.

More horses, but in a weak location:

With the discovery of the Wheat near the Crab/Ivory/PH site I've decided to play a bit risky and settle for the high growth/early commerce site and delay horses a bit.

City 2 should be founded on t26 just as the Cow pasture completes and....

banghead

bugger. I can either settle the Ivory t26 with the Cow completed or settle the PH t26 but have 2t to go on the Pasture. The PH needs a road connection for the trade routes. frown

Cow completed t28. so add 2t to the farm counter in the above screenie and add 1 turn of farm into the riverside plains 1 S of Cow.

I'm going back to plan A and settling the Ivory. It delays the wheat farm by 1t but I gain access to Fish as well as Crabs plus the Cow pasture completes 2t earlier.

I'm heading deep with my scout instead of clearing out more close in fog. I can clear the close fog with new units before I have to commit worker turns/settlers to my 3rd city. And I've already got an excellent site to the NE as a city 3 candidate. In the meantime I'd like to scout out Commodore's position a bit. wink

Worker plan revised:

Speaking of micro:

Now that I have contact the known tech "bonus" kicks into effect. Unfortunately I won't produce enough beakers per turn to benefit with only one contact (0.3/7= 4.29% per known civ with the tech you are researching). I'll need 25 beakers per turn in order to gain a slipstream beaker. But any beaker overflow *from* a slipstreamed tech gets multiplied by 0.9571 and then rounded down. So any beaker overflow from Fishing and Mining will be reduced by 1. If overflow + next turn's beaker production is >= 25 I'll get the beaker back but otherwise it'll pay to finish early techs exactly to the beaker at least for Fishing and Mining.

It's not a big deal as I'll need 2-3 turns of gold generation to get to Bronze so I can run partial science on the last turn of Fishing et al without slowing my overall tech pace. But I may wind up losing 1g and 1b due to rounding at partial science. frown Bah.

eot 24 I'll have 54/59 beakers into Fishing. I make 10 commerce so 40% gets me 4 b/ 6 gold +1 free beaker = 69/69 eot 25. No losses due to rounding.

t26 settle Fall. Add 1gpt in maint costs. +2 commerce from trade routes, +1 commerce from Fall's city square, +1 commerce from River cows.
Resume teching at 14 x 1.0429 + 1 = 15 beakers/turn. Mining is 74 beakers so I'll need 4t@ 15= 60 + 1t at 14.

Except that Falcon will grow to size 3 at eot 27.

so eot 26 = 15/74 b, 5 gold in the kitty.
eot 27 = 30/74 b, 4 gold in the kitty.
t 28: cap now size 3 warrior just complete. Start 5t worker. Work Wheat, Deer, Wines = 12 foodhammers, 13 commerce.
total empire commerce 16. net bpt =17.
eot 28: 47/74 beakers, 3 gold in kitty.
eot 29: 64/74 beakers, 2 gold in kitty.
t30: I need 9 generated beakers to finish mining this turn. 50% tech gets me 8 beakers/8 gold with no loss and leaves me 1 beaker short. Eot 30 Fall grows to size 2 with 20/30 hammers into a workboat and pops it's borders. 73/74 beakers/10 gold at eot.
t31: run max gold, use the free beaker to finish mining. Worker 1 starts Wheat farm for Fall. work Cows/Wheat in Fall. +4 food/5 hammers. Total empire commerce 17. Costs should still be 1gpt. eot mining 74/74, 26 gold in kitty.
t32: Max tech on bronze. eot: worker 2 completes in Falcon, WB completes in Fall. 17*1.2=20 + 1 beakers. 21/179 eot 32.
t33: WB moves to fish. Worker 2 moves to bare grass hill 8,9 of Falcon. Queue warrior in Falcon, WB in Fall. 42/179, 24 gold
t34: Net fish. Work fish/Cows in Fall. Start mine. 64/179, 23 gold
t35: Wheat farm complete. Work Wheat/Fish in Fall, Cows, Wheat, Deer in Falcon. 2t into mine. 14/26 food at start of turn, 24/26 at eot. Warrior at 16/15 eot. Worker 1 mine (2nd turn).

Bah. too tired to do more right now.

There are some very lush looking lands to the east.

Joao is going to rock on this map.

Me, I need some HAs and Cats ASAP.
