[SPOILERS] Turning in the widening gyre: Thoth has another go at BTS

`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

"Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!"

He took his vorpal sword in hand:
Long time the manxome foe he sought --
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
And stood awhile in thought.

And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!

One, two! One, two! And through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.

"And, has thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!'
He chortled in his joy.

`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

I'm more about the vorpal blade going snicker-snack, myself. If you're using the Jabberwock for a naming scheme you'll have to make sure to pound Commodore's face in, to show him you used it better. (He used it in PB5 his PB5 duel with Cyneheard).

Played: Pitboss 18 - Kublai Khan of Germany Somalia | Pitboss 11 - De Gaulle of Byzantium | Pitboss 8 - Churchill of Portugal | PB7 - Mao of Native America | PBEM29 Greens - Mao of Babylon

Leader thinking:

I'm not picking 100% for the "best" leaders, I'm picking at least in part for "leaders I'd like to play". smile

Traits I'd like:

Spiritual. I like the flexibility that Spi gives. With a bit of planning and attention to detail, it's awesome from the Medieval era onwards.
Expansive. Duh. Prolly won't be picking it high as I'll be pairing it with Cha.
Org. Solid all round trait. Water is a factor so the cheap lighthouses will come into play. Cheap civics and cheap courthouses are always welcome.
Creative. Easy border pops and cheap libs.
Cha. Very map dependent as an econ trait. It's worth up to two extra worked tiles per city. If you're pinched for happy resources in the early game, that can be a huge boost. If you're rolling in luxes and all your cities have plenty of free happies, it's pretty meh.
It's mad good for building Ren Navies (esp when paired with Spi) and if needs be you can build your HE unlocking unit.
Ind. It's all about the cheap forges. Cheap NWs/Palace move/WWs are nice as well. But it really wants a solid support trait to boost expansion.

My first pick from the available lot is Hatty (Spi/Cre).
2nd I'm leaning towards Brennus (Spi/Cha)
3rd. Asoka (spi/org) maybe. Or maybe Louis (Ind/Cre).
4th. Washington or Zara.

Want to see start. hammer

Not sure on the overall theme yet, but I'm aiming to do some arse kicking and some face pounding. hammer smile

Quote:Map Size: Standard
Map: Xenu given "Cylindrical, PB9-style Full of Resources lakes with islands added for IC-TRs. 200+ tiles per player (more spread out than normal)" as a general idea.

Lush map means Cha moves down my list. smile Capital wines means the Monarchy path has a bit of extra shine, so Spi looks slightly better (hah! who am I kidding? I want Spi anyway and I'm just trying to justify picking something I want to pick anyway)

Too much FFH means I need to spend time in the BTS civilopedia to figure out which civ starts with which tech.

1) Hatty of someciv
2) Rameses of someotherciv
3) bah. need to spend time in civilopedia. Back later. nod
