Civ 4 Deity adventures

Thread hijack to throw in a solo game report of my own, not really worth its own thread. Not Deity difficulty, but Immortal: http://www.dos486.com/civ4/marathon/ .

That's what I was doing instead of playing the FFH adventure, although FFH looks like it's really catching on around here so I think I'll try it after Adventure 48.

My god, that is one absurd score. I have no words.

Very impressive. Any idea what the best scores achieved have been?

That's awesome T-Hawk. And to answer the original question, I believe that I played a few more turns of that game but it didn't go well - I haven't played it in awhile and will probably just start over on a new one

The highest score I can find at the CFC HOF appears to be 3172513 by WastinTime here: http://hof.civfanatics.net/civ4/game_inf...ryID=18789

It seems his trick was to use a Big_and_Small map, which allows an extremely high population-to-land ratio (ratio is important to fit more pop under the domination limit). It spawns lots of tiny islands, and tons of seafood to power Sid's Sushi (+39 food!), which together add up to 20 or more population per land tile. He did his rushing with quechuas, which are faster than praetorians.

Back to my game, the thing is that I really didn't do anything spectacular in terms of gameplay. It was all in the setup, developed by VirusMonster originally. Anyone could take Rome on a huge map on Marathon speed, restart until you get a good capital and some worker steals, and score at least 500k.

Thread necro!

So I've been trying, off and on, still to beat Deity. At least once.

Here was my latest attempt

I rolled a start as Sury (Exp/Cre) of Inca. I think I smoke'd it up, because I had played a few games as Creative leaders (Willem and Hatty) and was enjoying the free border pops that I forgot that I didn't need to be Creative as Inca. I think I meant to be Pacal but oh well.

Still, wet rice, clams and double grass hill gems isn't bad thumbsup

I start with Agriculture, so I went with Mining -> BW then the Wheel to hook up one of the gems and then Fishing for the clams. I popped AH from a hut then went Pottery->Writing which is where I'm at now.

I have Aesthetics as a place holder but I've only met Hammurabi of Azteca so far on this continent. It's "Custom Continents" so it's certainly possible that we're alone on this continent. There does appear to be another continent within workboat reach so that may be a way to get contacts.

It definitely looks like I can secure a fair amount of land if I get 3-4 blocker cities down (maybe one near the copper / FP, one near the ivory, one for the rice and one for the pigs?) That leaves room for probably 12 or so total cities which might be enough.

Looks like Hammi has met someone else though as you have ep's on him. By the time Aesthetics is done you ight have more contacts, especially if you can sneak a scout of sorts past his borders.

Okay I played a few more turns on this game. First up, first city on T57 (a bit late frown)

Met Izzy a turn later, so my fears of being alone with Hammurabi were over. She of course had founded Buddhism and also later founded Judaism. She also had like 6 cities by now lol

3rd city on T70. My capital isn't great for production but with the 2 gems hills we're definitely keeping up in the tech pace.

I lost 2! C1 Quechua vs. archer battles (86.6%) odds. Here's the second of those, preceding the pillaging of my pig resource.

About now, I noticed Hammy coming my way with a settler / archer / chariot combo. He looked like he was heading for my last blocker site. I snuck in a settler at the capital and triple whipped it to try and beat him. But as you can see,

I was a turn too late - he founded Tlacopan right on that spot.
