JesterFool, Has there been a game before where everyone saw their start before picking? How did it work out?

I remember seeing several PBEMs like that. I'd prefer to see starts beforehand as well, it allows you to react to the resources around, and maybe take a non Agri-Wheel Civ eek. Even without that though I'd much rather pick my leader and civ.

Regarding map type, a mirrored map is fine by me if whomever we get doesn't want to make a non-mirrored.

I think seeing start is a positive thing, especially if the mapmaker is "creative" with the start like Commodore in '49.

I think seeing starts before picking is a positive thing, especially considering some mapmakers like to punish agriculture civs.
It has been done in most recent pbems IIRC.

Oh yeah, didn't mention: I don't care about the map, but it should be checked by someone knowledgeable (Krill, plako) that it is fair and will be fun to play. Not sure if Krill would be willing to roll a few maps for us though, has anyone asked him yet?

@Jowy: We seem to be 10 teams, with BaII needing someone helping over the summer if I see it right. I think we could request a forum by now, would you do that?

@BaII: Maybe best if you search with a separate thread in the Civ General forum for help, as I could easily see that not being noticed in this thread anyway.

I'd also like to make a suggestion that you turn vassals off, due to the effects on city maintenance on island maps.

Yeah.. I forgot Vassals. And also whether we want to ban Apostolic Palace or other wonders.
But no-one said anything, so I'm not taking the full fall for this :P
