I guess ex-gfs are poised to just sweep through everything important from the Medieval era onward... Any over / under guesses for how long until this game is conceded? I'm guessing it's when they get rifles and Taj, which should be about 3 weeks?
[Spoilers] PB12 Lurker Thread: Where everyone blames the mapmaker

It'll be called at Liberalism. Which will it looks like be used to take Future Tech.
If only you and me and dead people know hex, then only deaf people know hex.
I write RPG adventures, and blog about it, check it out.
I haven't read any other thread but serdoa's for like two months, is it correct to think the game will be called after the war his about to start?
Hrm. WK seems to be looking forward to rampaging up Yuri; maybe maybe not. Jowy seems to think it is still ongoing but hey delusion. It is pretty purely over, though, Gav seems disheartened...pity, he had an excellent first game ever.

Yeah, Bacchus and Gavagai have had a pretty solid game, they took the fight to Egypt and won. Fairly impressive game from those two.
From a lurker's perspective, this was a pretty disappointing Pitboss.
Most of the teams that formed were players of intermediate skill level, which was then thrown for a loop when the Serdoa/Noblehelium team joined the game. They showed how much better they were than everyone else in the picking phase, somehow coming away with Darius of Sumeria (!) on a large, water-heavy map, and then proceeded to steamroll the competition in clinical fashion. I'm not saying there was anything inherently wrong with this, but it did make the game less interesting to follow. There was almost no lurker attention on this Pitboss in large part because it was fairly obvious who was going to win from a very early date. This also wasn't helped by the poor reporting across the board from almost every team. As I write this post, there are only three threads that were even updated in the last 3 weeks. Much of the game was a black hole after the early Ancient era turns, with no way to tell what was going on. Gavagai in particular had a nice spoiler thread that dropped off the face of the earth after he became frustrated. As for Serdoa and Noblehelium, they certainly posted non-stop, but it wasn't very useful or interesting to read. Their thread was pretty much a series of Gchat or instant messenger exchanges, with few screenshots to illustrate what was going on. Again, they can certainly do anything they want with their thread, but it didn't do much to pull attention to this game. It's really a missed opportunity, as this Pitboss had a good map and the potential to be a very interesting game. None of that ever materialized though. This one will likely be quickly forgotten, other than "that game where Serdoa/Noble crushed everyone." In my defense - it is really hard to sustain good reporting when you realize that the game gets almost zero lurker's attention and for a good reason. |
