Turn #6, In Which AT Works His First Improved Tile
How soon things change:
I go from good in manufacturing and bad elsewhere, to good in GNP and food and crap everything else.
Because now I'm working the fish instead of the ivory, of course. 8 more turns for my worker.
24 GNP - presumably, that's people working AH with hunting/agri, or maybe pottery with fishing/wheel/agri, not sure.
Exploration shows that this is a dead-end - i'm pretty sure that's water on the other side of the oasis. I'm thinking I'll climb the forest hill anyway - see what is what.
CH got a tech, which I assume is meditation. Good for him, landing a religion.
Gavagai/Bacchus got their first tech, as well.
Made the top cities!!
Plan for the next x turns: 8 turn worker which will farm->camp->road.
build warrior to size 3, make a settler.
tech:
Agri->AH->Mining->BW. After that pottery->writing->math,unless I decide that I need IW before writing->Math - and, with 2 nearby jungle silver, I might just do that.
Completed: PBEM 34g (W), 36 , 35 , 5o, 34s, 5p, 42, 48 and PB 9, 18, 27, 57
Current: PB 52. Boudicca of Maya

Turn #7, In Which AT Makes a Dumb Joke About Bestiality And Shows How Much He Is Paying Attention
I may have to change my civ to the land of sheep:
AT land - where men are men and sheep are plentiful.
There's a few good city sites there - any of the 3 tiles next to the oasis is a viable city center. Probably will go for the plains, as it's next to 3 resources.
Buddhism did fall - congrats, CH. HAK finished a tech this turn, which I presume is Hinduism. Adrien did not, so I'm guessing he didn't go for a religion. Interesting, that only 2 went for a religion and they didn't go for the same one.
4% for Buddhism - I'll pay some attention to this for spreads.
Kicking ass in food and GNP! (AH with 2 pre-reqs kicks ass)
Most people got a tech this turn. Adrien is still the only one without one.
Next turn, heading back south to pick up that hut and see what is happening around the city - need a city #2 site and I'd like it to be south of the city where we can share a food and set up to pick up that silver. That depends on what the land looks like, of course.

Turn #8, In Which Stuff Happens to Other People
Turn 8 - which is more interesting than I would have expected.
In the interturn, HAK grew and Adrien and REM got a tech. I don't know why HAK went warrior first.
Rather than looping back, I decided that scouts are meant to explore unseen tiles, so he will loop around this lake. Corn is nice.
Confirmation that Hinduism did fall (congrats HAK)
and - whoa - Buddhism ALREADY spread? that was fast. I don't remember the exact rules for religion spreading - I know you don't need to have a trade route - all that is necessary is a potential trade route - but I was pretty sure you had to know the other person.
Demos are boring:
The age of barb animal started a couple of turns ago. Now, animals are heavily nerfed in this game - the scout is basically immune - but I'm surprised to not have seen any yet.

Tsargon (who seems to have taken over for Tasunuke) popped a tech, it seems.
As has NylesStandish, who is now the score leader!
You know, given how cheap 1st round techs are and that they are the only ones you can pop, it's possible that popping techs isn't as good as getting gold anymore. Say getting a new city gives me 1 GPT costs, but I can set up a trade route and gain 2 GPT - my 55 gold can translate into 110 beakers, which is a lot better than the 40 or so for mysticism.

Turn #9, In Which Nothing Happened. Well, AT Found Some Pigs.
that and the corn are resources 90+ turns away from being settled, I think.
Nothing else interesting happened...

Turn #10, In Which AT Struggles To Make a Good Screenshot of Explored Land
Huh. Quite a few people grew. That can't be from after a worker, so either they went WB->warrior->worker, or warrior. Some tests indicate that workboat->worker in my cap would get a pop growth now, so I assume that's what they did. I'm guessing that they are going BW and will whip it out? Must be. Well, that's a long ways off for me.
Krill, being krill, grew AND got a tech. trying to hide one with the other, no doubt!!
Exploration - nothing very interesting. Will be slow around this lake with the forest.
overall land
Should try going full screen - that's a bad pic.
Demos
Still no barbs, still no neighbors, no new huts. Pretty boring...

Turn #11, In Which AT Finds a Target. And an Amazing City Site
Turn 11 and what do I find?
is it:
Animal?
Vegetable?
Mineral?
Human?
I was going to spoiler that, but most of my post will be about those yellow borders. But first - holy crap that's an amazing site. Corn and double grass gold, right next to his cap? Maybe south of me is double silver, I dunno - seems pretty amazing, though.
Given the color, I think it's Molach - it might be CH though. I hope it's CH, since he A) has a religion and B) Inca is not as dangerous as Celts.
I think I'm going to avoid meeting him - there's a strong chance he'll settle toward the gold as opposed to at a resource and I might be able to catch him flatfooted with a chariot rush. Or come around at him from another side - I am guessing his scout went elsewhere. A lot of that depends on how long it takes me to meet him, of course and where horses are. I also have to think if I want to make a move on him with keshik's or not. Obviously, going HA is a serious committment, and given that a settler is only a little more expensive than an HA...
If it's Molach, well then, deja vu PB18!! Molach knows to be wary of me - I attacked him early in PB 18 after a fairly aggressive plant (he planted 2 cities in a line toward me, as opposed to ringing his cap). Course, I tried to keep the city, which doesn't work well vs an aggressive civ
CH I played against in a PBEM, in what I think was his first game. He was not impressive, but he did better in PB 18 - got crushed by dtay, but he did ok. I think Molach is probably a better player, but he's fairly passive. Though, hard to be too passive with celts, particularly on a map with a fair number of hills.

Turn #12, In Which So Little Of Interest Happens, AT Did Not Post a Picture
Did not make contact with that civ, moved south. Found desert gold (much worse than grass gold)
Nothing interesting has happened.
Still looking for my first barb encounter...

I will be quite interested in reading Serdoa's thread by the end of the game to find out why he keeps logging in, changing his name to george washington, hanging around for a few minutes, and then logging out without ending turn. Seems unlikely that he declared war on someone and is having an actual conflict....

Turn #13, In Which AT Actually Meets an Opponent
I meet someone!! and the map.. confuses me. Well, not so much confuses me as is wacky.
That scout is Adrien. Adrien is Hammurabi (aggressive, organized) of India (fastworker, mausoleum), a combination of no particular synergy. The Fast worker is still pretty strong, though not quite as strong. he's coming from the east, so is probably on the other side of CH/Molach, or perhaps south.
Why is the map weird?
The two blue circles represent tiles with ice in them. Maybe that's just the nature of toroids, and the ice/tundra are scattered around, but it looks weird. Also, a line of jungle/desert/plain/ice/tundra is wacky.
no change in demos.
No one got a score change this turn. No one else has met me. Adrien is still in base civics and clearly just met me this turn.
