Thanks Brick, but I'll ride the blimp down into the fiery crash. It might be fun in some cases. Anyway, it's not like Pin is doing any heavily lifting in this war. He just kindly popped Zul'Mashar for Rego and is blocking the port we were nowhere close to boating Rego out of.
Rego, for his part, is going to be recovering his pride by retaking the cities we nabbed from him. Meh, no biggie there. I wonder if they think we're in this for the long haul.
We are, for reference, in a golden age. Lots of hammers being turned into rifles, galleons, and spite, but we're not managing much else. The one piece of good news is that we do have enough beakers/gold to finish Chemistry next turn and the Physics, so airships/frigates will be having fun too.
I recognized a small chance to hurt Pindicator this turn, thanks to the insanely fast galleons we're sporting.
Alas, it was not to be. If he doesn't pop it next turn, the galleon can threaten three island cities at once, which is another way of saying, Pin will be forced to whip MGs, poor dear, in all three.

You mean, Commodore Totallyyourfaultforpickingcarthage.
I looked at the save btw and didn't really see anything you didn't see. There's quite literally nothing we can do offensively atm, so its just draft, whip, entrench. Perhaps we can pillage one or the other a bit - but that's all.
Screw em both.
I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?

Hum, no chance, you think, of mass-razing everything we own and Yuri owns too?

I doubt Yuri has either enough troops or enough ships. But given the absurdity of this game, I'd have no problem salting the earth, so to speak.

Rest assured that the Romans did not actually salt Carthage, because salt was incredibly expensive.

Late is the hour and fat is the singer, but hey, why not try eh?
Quote:[COLOR="Orange"]Hey Rego,
I know you've been working towards so sort of massive showdown with Pindicator after the uppity other players are dealt with, and now that fun little romp might be shorted. We have no compelling reason to continue playing a useless, doomed war against a lock-out alliance, so we're supporting the motion. The one offer we still would make, however, is for a peace treaty wherin you give us all of your Buddhist cities and we sign a NAP for, say, 35 turns. It's up to you, if you want to continue to win the game for your ally, by all means, we'll just vote and have done, but I figured we might as well make the offer. ![wink wink](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/wink2.gif)

Alas, Sid stopped us.
Quote:[COLOR="SeaGreen"]Interesting. I was actually just reading up on the organizing thread about this. I would definitely consider your offer..... except my capital has Buddhism :-)
So I guess we'll see what Pindicator has up his sleeve. Maybe we'll get to have all that post-game discussion sooner rather than later!

It's been fun, eh?

If I learned one thing from here and PBEM17, it's this: Don't play as an orange civ and attack a native American Civilization. Bad things happen

I'd rephrase as "don't utterly screw up your start and scramble to increasingly absurd Hail Mary plays to get yourself back in the game". Also "no diplo".

Hey guys, I'm having fun reading your thread! I'm up at the Sian war now, but I had to comment on this
Commodore Wrote:Yeah, he cared a lot about. You're right though, circumnavigation plus his Nav 1 ships would have been ridiculous. I'm feeling better militarily about our situation, and I'd say it's well worth it to get the circumnavigation. A more broad thought is that our apparently odd NW and SE path, as opposed to the NE/SW set Yuri, Sian, and Pindicator tried, has probably given us a very different perspective on the map...it's a big free world out there, but the others are probably feeling a bit of the bunker mentality.
If we do manage to snag the 'mids (and that's an all-out thing now, including I think regrowing to six and 3-pop whipping them), Pindicator is going to be very, very unhappy with us. A Yurian shield might be helpful if so.
I was mostly upset at myself. But after reading half of your thread and re-reading mine, I realized I DID send my initial workboat NW just like you did. Only the map just happened to have a huge swath of ocean that extended from my home island west about 12 tiles and then down south all the way to Yuri's starting island. Without that, I think I would have won that race: it cost my workboat about half a dozen turns just to find out how to go west. Granted, I was not thinking through the race and only realized we were on a torroid around turn 40, but I'm starting to think I would have won that race if I had a northwest passage like you did.

Okay, finally finished! I know, took my sweet time... You guys have a very engaging style, and the photoshop / pictures made this very fun to read. Nice thread!
After seeing your war against Sian, it looks like exactly what I thought my war against Yuri was going to be like: fork his cities and stress him enough so that he makes mistakes. Obviously Sian made a pretty big mistake to move 2 units out of Pedro, and you did a great job capitalizing, even if you had to take a risk to do it. I wonder also why Sian went for maces before longbows. He could have really slowed you down if he had gotten longbows before losing his Pyramids city. Maybe I should save that question for his thread.
Commodore Wrote:Finally, important, Pindicator in chat confirmed he's hitting Yuri. Now that he told us in confidence, we'll not confirm anything for Yuri. Gaspar Wrote:Hmm. Good thing I sent that email 3 hours before the chat? ![shhh shhh](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/shhh.gif) Commodore Wrote:What's that, right hand? ![thumbsup thumbsup](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif) This was the kind of diplomacy I expected to be up against all game. I'm glad there were at least some other minor shenanigans, especially after all the crap i pulled.
Was really surprised you never went for ToA. With Cothons it would have helped you the most.

Another ![lol lol](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/lol.gif) moment. Glad I caught you in the holiday mood!
I did have a lot of fun in our chats Commodore. I wish there would have been more of them. I remember going through times where I wondered if I should just send a line just to keep diplomacy going, because it didn't seem like we were communicating much. But once you realized I was a mother lover, I guess I can see why you wouldn't want to talk.
Anyway, let's go bust some heads in pbem31!
