Did we cover the workers northwest of Tartarus? Probably should have covered with a knight and a mace. Oh well. He'd have to expose his two workers to capture them.

I had fun catching up with this thread. I just don't understand how you do the gray face?

Are you playing in other Civ games?

t153 - Denouement

So Oxy played sensibly and stuffed pretty much everything he had into Paddy Simcox, stuffed everything that couldn't get there into Oil Can Guster, spent all his gold upgrading Holkans to Pikes and executed a lot of dry whips. Of course, according to the PB13 lurker thread he didn't defend properly because he didn't spite whip Ovaltine Jenkins down to 1 and start pillaging his tile improvements, so I guess someone will have a shitfit in the lurker thread. rolleye

Anyway, this most likely means we're not taking Paddy, more on that in a bit. First lets take a look at Ovaltine which was not impacted this turn other than a Holkan -> Pike upgrade.

Battle of Ovaltine Jenkins

C1/Shock Knight vs Green Pike @ 22.9% WIN (Thank you based RNGesus! That's 10xp.)
C1 Knight vs Green Mace @ 20.2% LOSS (Mace down to 3.9/8)
C1/Shock Knight vs Green Axe @ 78.3% WIN(Knight at 49 hp)
C1/Shock Knight vs Green Axe @ 78.3% WIN(Flawless victory)
Green Knight vs Injured Mace @ 87.6% WIN (Flawless)

pimp That was the one I wanted, since it is the city that invalidated the uber Moai. Ovaltine Jenkins is now Mount Olympus and came with a Forge, Lighthouse, Courthouse and Colosseum. Not complaining, but I'd definitely trade one of these buildings we get an Org discount on for a Granary. [Image: kappa.png]

Before we get to stuff Oxy did right, the one misstep he made was he has unpromoted units in Oil Can Guster, a city we can reach with the remaining units from the Northern Mounted Division®. So we decided that even though we likely can't take the city, we can almost certainly take it next turn.

Battle of Oil Can Guster

C1 Knight vs Green Pike @ 25.9% LOSS (Pike down to 10 hp)
C1 Knight vs Green Pike @ 27.2% LOSS (Pike 3.8/6)
C1 Knight vs Green Pike @ 27.2% LOSS (Pike 2.8/6)
C1/Shock Knight vs Green Mace @ 79.7% WIN (Flawless)
C2 Knight vs Green Mace @ 75.1% LOSS(Mace @ 4.5/8)
C1 Knight vs Green Mace @ 70.3% WIN (64 hp on Knight)
C1 Knight vs 3.8/6 Pike @ 85.7% WIN (43 hp on Knight)
C1/Shock HA vs Green Axe @ 68.1% WIN (67 hp on HA)
C1/Shock HA vs 2.8/6 Pike @ 84.8% WIN (flawless)
C1/Shock HA vs 4.5/8 Mace @95.5% WIN (28 hp left on HA)
F1/Sentry HA vs Green Cat @ 98.6% WIN (44 hp)

So that leaves this picture at the city.

RNGesus giveth, RNGesus taketh away. He held that city with a 10 hp pikeman left standing. [Image: biblethump.png]

Nonetheless, there's really nothing he can do to stop us taking it next turn.

Unfortunately, the rest of the map is bad news. He stuffed everything we saw last turn into Paddy and cash upgraded Holkan > Pike and Axe > Mace several times. The result is we're not taking the city as our forces are currently constructed.

And in more foreboding news...

TBS has moved all of his two-movers off our border. I recognize this trick, because I did the same thing on my side of the border about 4t ago... in preparation for invading Oxy. It looks like I'm going to do the heavy lifting and TBS is going to take 2/3 of Maya. Basically a repeat of what happened to Thoth except this time the leader takes the spoils. That should end the game, I guess. I'd like to add more but I'm tired, so maybe tomorrow.

No, one at a time for me these days. If I sign up for another its going to be a PBEM for sure, though, because...

Still reading, still hoping for team enjoyment if not victory, still not helping because I don't have time to do anything. I did read most of the chat, which was a lot, so I'm feeling pretty good about my contribution.

Invisible Inc. is pretty awesome by the way. You play as a pair (potentially up to four later) of stealth agents in a cyberpunk world in turn-based mode and have a soft cap on the time you can spend on the mission (escalating alarm means increasingly stronger obstacles and opponents). It definitely needs fleshing out in terms of content but it's very playable already. It has a similar feel to Shadowrun Returns but much more thoughtful. It's also made by the guys who made Mark of the Ninja.

t154 - Less Talking, More Head

So to start, Oxy abandoned Oil Can Guster. We had intended to burn the city unless we could snipe Slicks this turn, which we cannot so afire it is lit.

We couldn't attack Slicks as stated, but he did leave 2 units out of the city and we were feeling froggy, so...

The Battle of Slicks-Simcox Gulch

Green Janissary vs Green Pike @ 73% WIN (Janissary at 7.4/9)
Green HA vs Green Cat @ 73% WIN (HA down to 1.7/6, deleted afterwards)

Ok, wasn't all that dramatic but what do you want from me on a maneuvering turn?

After exploring with our sentry HA we discovered his Moai city and that we can threaten it this turn:

We'd have to burn it obviously, but we should manage if he can't reinforce significantly. So we offered peace for Paddy Simcox and Slicks. Basically his call - he keeps his Moai and we get what we came for or we burn his Moai and we get what we came for later. I think he'll decline because Paddy is a fantastic city, but he should take it. The longer this war goes on it favors us more - I can significantly outproduce him.

I didn't get a shot but I'm once again worried about TBS in the east because of some peculiar stuff with his workers, so that's part of why I'd like to get peace with oxy. If I could shift all those two-movers to the eastern border and use the 10t peace to get jans on the Oxy border, I'd feel a lot safer.

A fuller report next turn when I'm not exhausted.

Call names. Is it one player consistently holding things up or multiple players?
