[PB37 SPOILER] Coeurva, Bacchus -- Cyrus of Carthage

Whatever island Joey has seized was size4, I think (score increased by 8). That may have been Yekaterinburg, actually. Shame if it was: we'd have taken it on T138.

Only Yuri has responded to the PMs about the chariot double-move gift. Seems like that's not been an issue with dtay.

I think the problem with taking islands off Joey isn't trade routes; we have OB with almost everyone else now.

Agree that we need to ally (or at least align) with Krill, Gavagai and the Khatunate going forward. I'm not sure whether Krill in particular agrees, though, or what we can bring to this alliance. Maybe another gold gift to the Mongol double kingdom, our best friends whom we've never once interacted with in a millennium (although, in this game, that does actually speak to decent relations). Also, across the next say 20t, we'll definitely have Enough On Our Hands Right Now. Can send iron/iron to Gavagai and JR4 this turn, though. If Regna falls, they might actually consider us competent wink

Played T137, but no time for report. Possibly made a few errors due to being pressed for time.

The gist of it: Savant shuffled two units into Regna via galley (which ended up inside the city) and completed walls. We took the city, losing one sword and getting the others a bit injured, but also two of them to 10 and 8 XP respectively. Emerald Isle will be the next target. Capture gold: 150g! Granary, lighthouse intact. We'll use some of that gold to upgrade the archer that we'll shove into the city next turn. Hebona will take over these duties of ferrying garrisons around; note that Krill is sniffing around with triremes everywhere, even near Joey's borders.

Krill has Calendar now, and the exact same happiness resource (sugar) as we do.

JR4 declared on Savant on the same turn and took Vulcania (an island close to him). We're marching towards Sorpigal with an insultingly small stack which I hope will not get shredded. Expect walls to go up there eoT138, I think we'd rather cross the river? Need a battle plan. Two additional NumCav can't hit the city before T141.

Lost dtay's graphs so I put EP on him, not Savant.

Some excellent rolls, looks like. A very nice break, pretty much guaranteed a general now, and CR3 swords are particularly delicious, hopefully we can bring them to Sorpigal too. I will log in to look around, but congrats on the conquest. The galley is pure weed, poor Savant.

We can see into Cuckhokia now, pretty useful. Campaign looks good. Also, our MFG spike is pretty impressive and far outclasses dtay's -- small victories. So does Savant's, lol. Gavagai on the other hand is just plowing ahead on MFG without any need for golden ages apparently.

I'm back near a computer, will play the turn now. Might not have time for a report tonight, sorry. dtay sent a PM about the double-move and confirmed that he was "fine either way" (and noted that if anything, he mildly benefitted from the free XP, just as I'd surmised lol)

Zug 138. Kurzbericht: Savant hat Armbrustschützen.

He also has Construction and signed peace with Joey. We might induce him to build xbows instead of archers (no lbows yet) to make our NumCav more efficient, but it might not be possible to take Sorpigal. Since Emerald Isle is locked behind a river anyway, we might attack it amphibiously on T139 or sail past (if the Sentry chariot should spot a spotty garrison). I'm concerned about Krill's absurd net of triremes (he's observing our miniature stack next to Sorpigal, too), longbow logistics at our cities exposed to Krill, and Savant's ability to lock us into a war.

Started building cothons in the ports, NumCav in the north, stables in the south, and barracks where still left.

Rhapsody needs a bit of micro attention to produce the next GSci on time (I do hope it won't be a Great Artist... although we could at least use one as well) while also working the iron tile (Toledo will retake it on T140).

Traded maps with JR4. Upgraded archer -> longbow in Regna, but it's the only unit currently inside, which worries me (will add Medic axe next turn).

We can get Monotheism in time for switching to OrgRel. Should we? (Maintenance costs were ~14gpt last I checked)

Not moving in the northern stack yet -- Savant could pick off the catapults with xbows too easily before our NumCav and longbow arrive for cover.

Zeichensetzung: sehr gut.

I forgot to leave signs where I messed with production queues due to completion, even though my signing spree was originally motivated by this concern. Hopefully we are not still building the Parthenon.

I don't think Krill will attack, the risk-reward just doesn't work out, he's got plenty of other things to be getting on with. Also, we forced him to build these triremes, which are now useless, so of course he is using them at least for scouting, and maybe opportunistic XP from likely strategic enemies (I don't think we are one, but how to signal this. Loan? Not during GA though).

Krill could gift his triremes to Savant, delaying our progress, and they're placed in such a way that they can snipe Hebona, the longbow shuttle. We'd be none the wiser, since we can't really track Savant's own production or existing fleet. He'll certainly enjoy attacking underdefended cities in revolt after we've cleared Savant's slightly-heavier garrisons, too (but we can get two longbows into Regna before our peace expires, at least; I don't care too much about Sweet Water).

Don't worry, I went over the build queues, we're not building the Parthenon. I've come to prefer the Temple of Artemis Actually, Joey has built that one in Yellow Maple already.

I stand by my point that best way to signal to Krill that we're not strategic enemies is to sail past his cities with galleons. wink A loan is a good idea too, though.

EDIT:
Code:
Prelude> let f n = if (n/(n+120)) >= 0.3 then n else f (n+4)
Prelude> f 0
52.0
On this turn, dtay's EP are 20 -- so dtay gains graphs on us in 8t if we both keep investing 4 EP/t (we have 20 EP more). Yeah, "n" is not the best name here lol

Oh my, Haskell. Such a beautiful thing, but it's been too much for me several times when I tried to get into it. So what do you do -- computational linguistics?
