I swear an update will happen this weekendish or something. I've been busy this week, and interest is dying between 1) the delays 2) my general screwed-ness and 3) the fact that somebody gave freaking Printing Press to Krill (preeeeeetty sure it was Commodore given the gold changes even though I handed him that for free for recompense so if that was him, I'm no longer the bad guy here ), but people won't buy my techs for 10b to 1g ratios. Seriously guys? Is anybody paying remote attention? ARGH.
I'm really sorry Brick and Mist, but starting this weekend the frustration gets taken out on you guys. I feel bad because you guys are screwed just like me, but I gotta do some killin ya know? Yep, I have a bunch of City Raider Rifles ready to go and galleys are loading up. Stuff is going down. I did find out one cool thing. For some reason I had it in my head that Rifling obsoletes Maces, but nope! So despite having Rifling for several turns now, I'm still building Zerks . It's fun. SUCH a weird game.
Oh after all that, I forgot to mention the whole reason I updated to complain! So, as apart of some deal a few turns back (it's slipping my mind), Regopin were gifting me spices and rice. It was extra from a tech trade I think. Anyways, they suddenly declared war on Nakor which "magically" broke our trade connection and auto cancelled the deal. Oh, and then Regopin "magically" made peace with him the next turn. HHMMMMM. There's no way they just declared a phony war just to screw me out of a few turns of resource use right? RIGHT??
Ridiculous. They've been jerking me around by offering me completely insane tech trades - Regoarrarr offered like 500g for Replaceable parts which yes, that costs 7,000 beakers and is a monopoly tech. I nearly did the whole thing where I demanded all their cities again just to adequately communicate the giant middle finger I was flipping them, but I decided it wasn't worth my time.
I just can't figure out what their motivation is in pissing me off. Surely they know they want to buddy up to me to better contain Krill right? Sigh.
You know what, complaining put me in the mood. Let's drop some pictures yeah? This is mostly just random gibberish that I happened to press print screen for over the last couple weeks (yes, it's been, um, slow with all the reloads)... So here goes. Also this will be highly sarcastic with a touch of snideness because it's late and I'm just in that kind of mood. I will regret this tomorrow. No offense intended to other people. Except Regoarrarr - OFFENSE INTENDED TO YOU SIR. Let's do this. First, here is one of the many examples of Rego being either oblivious or just a jerk in general:
50gpt (500 gold and that's only if you don't declare a fake war to screw me) for a monopoly tech Economics? I hope you step on a Lego. Nakor communicating something I can't decipher:
Actually that's probably just him resettling that spot Krill razed. Well it's certainly accurate, I'm probably going to burn/capture a bunch of his cities because his grasp of the metagame seem similar to an AI so I'm guessing his defending will be similar. Also YES FOOD YES:
Suck it Krill. Yuri's execution continues:
Seriously Regopin, keep trying to annoy me with your stupid deals and FAKEFAKEFAKE wars. Just dare me to tech Astronomy and come wreck you with 6 move galleons carrying Amphibious CR Rifles. I have literally nothing to lose because this thing ain't winnable. However, I do have teh power to swing the game a bit, and I can't for the life of me understand why they can't understand that. I've held off on making any deals with Krill yet, but just one or two deals with him and it's light out for Regopin. AWFULLY tempting to sell him Rifling or something and then he can put an end to this thing quickly. Wait what am I talking about. This is Krill. He's scared of warfare that doesn't involve modern armor running over longbows, so he'll just sit there and tech to space while we keep pressing enter and humoring him. GREAT FUN. Merchant to fund more of my foolishness:
Wheeeeeeee. Upgrades in action:
Yep, that's a start. There's more than that, but this was the first turn of upgrades. YOu can actually see two galleys ferrying Zerks in from the north. Also, spy:
Lurker thread going off at the same time. Hm. The only person posting today has been Regopin, so hopefully you guys are talking about what schmucks they are for the fake war to screw me. Besides, it's Pitboss tradition to skewer Regoarrarr for shady tactics in the lurker thread .

Or when you're pissed.
Merovech's Mapmaking Guidelines:
0. Player Requests: The player's requests take precedence, even if they contradict the following guidelines.
1. Balance: The map must be balanced, both in regards to land quality and availability and in regards to special civilization features. A map may be wonderfully unique and surprising, but, if it is unbalanced, the game will suffer and the player's enjoyment will not be as high as it could be.
2. Identity and Enjoyment: The map should be interesting to play at all levels, from city placement and management to the border-created interactions between civilizations, and should include varied terrain. Flavor should enhance the inherent pleasure resulting from the underlying tile arrangements. The map should not be exceedingly lush, but it is better to err on the lush side than on the poor side when placing terrain.
3. Feel (Avoiding Gimmicks): The map should not be overwhelmed or dominated by the mapmaker's flavor. Embellishment of the map through the use of special improvements, barbarian units, and abnormal terrain can enhance the identity and enjoyment of the map, but should take a backseat to the more normal aspects of the map. The game should usually not revolve around the flavor, but merely be accented by it.
4. Realism: Where possible, the terrain of the map should be realistic. Jungles on desert tiles, or even next to desert tiles, should therefore have a very specific reason for existing. Rivers should run downhill or across level ground into bodies of water. Irrigated terrain should have a higher grassland to plains ratio than dry terrain. Mountain chains should cast rain shadows. Islands, mountains, and peninsulas should follow logical plate tectonics.
