And the fact that Mack always sounds slightly angry probably made Luddite think he'd be more likely to make mistakes.

Instead it makes him more Vimeslike, i.e. far more effective.

I didn't get the impression luddite underestimated mackoti in an ah hominem kind of way, just that he underestimated people in general, i.e. he was going about it as if playing an AI to some extent.

Probably true. This is Luddite's first real MP game, as PBEM11 is moving so slow it doesn't count.

I'm not really sure if making a counteroffer would have made a difference. Mackoti and Ioan are just very slow to respond diplomatically in general.

GES: the other option, if plako taking a short timer doesn't work, is to increase the turn timer for the duration of these wars. It's much better to keep the game going at 1t/36ish hours than lots of pauses that mess everyone up.
