RBP3 [SPOILERS] - Friendly Kittens (Ragnar of Maya)

I should also have said: Thanks for pointing that out, Cull! It could have been important (and still might be if we see a Quechua come by in the near future) and it's a good learning opportunity. I know it was a tech because ancient techs are worth 6 points (they went from 30-36 while the turn was rolling) and there's basically no other way they could increase their score by that amount this early in the game.

Also: We probably may as well move Yalara 1NE next turn, but if we want to be very paranoid (there technically could be a bear on that forest tile 2N of her, or a panther hiding in the fog) we could move 1N onto the gems (on a jungle hill) and be able to keep to the high ground the following turn.

And: Those headwaters could mean I'm wrong about the mapscript (doubtful, in spite of the mountains, but we'll learn more as we explore). Headwaters could alterntively mean there's another civ down there (a start built for them in the desert) with that river hand-created just for them. Or (my preferred explanation for now) Sullla might just have used a mapscript editor and told it "give me more water and more rivers" before he did any hand-editing, so the thing showed up there by chance.

Turn rolled, where should we move?

I'm still "jet lagged" (or would that be car lagged?) from the 20+ hours of driving over 2 days. That combined with my ear still being messed up from the trip over the mountians means I'm just gassed. It was all I could do to make it through the 10hr day at work, so when I get off in 30min, I will be crashing.

I'd prefer we take the 1 turn delay and stick with cover for Yalara, but you cant win a game like this without taking SOME risk, so I'm OK with Yalara moving NE since I think the odds of a bear being on that square is very low, but if we do risk it, this should be the last time we risk flat ground if a "cover" alternative is available.

BTW, when we do find a city spot that we think will be our main military city, can we name that city Kilrah?

NE sounds great to me, and unless Ref posts something soon, I'll probably move it.

RefSteel Wrote:Yeah, one of the four-player teams - the one I mentioned yesterday. This means they discovered a tech in the interturn. They probably can't be generating more than 10-11bpt (including the "free" beaker) without something crazy like an oasis tile in their BFC (they can't have settled ON a jungle silver or the like because they founded on turn zero). They're Inca, so they start with agri+myst. Hunting and Fishing are too cheap to research in 9 turns, and AH and Wheel are too expensive at that tech rate, so we're looking at Mining. Like I said, if we really, really want to, we CAN do C&D.

I think you're right that trying to do C&D on everyone is more of a timesink than any of us want to invest into this game. However, I think it might be worth it to do C&D on whoever turn out to boarder us, and perhaps Sooonarrarrisejs and Krill or anyone who gets out to a big lead. that'd be somewhere between 2 and 6 teams. Would you be able to do that if I handle diplomacy?

Cull's going to be PTP so once we actually have units he'll have to invest more time moving them around

Ref suggested NE upthread. If you're in agreement, go ahead and move her.

Go ahead. Let me know if you'd like me to grab some screenies.

Hey, and also: Lots of score increases over the interturn. Think you can make sense of them?

[Edit: Crosspost. That's meant as an invitation to Cull, in case he's interested in practicing his Cloak and Dagger Skillz. I haven't dug into what they mean yet. Maniac, the problem with having 17 teams isn't just trying to keep track of all of them, but sorting out which is which. If I don't follow all 17, it won't be long before I have no idea to whom to attribute (say) an overall power increase. Actually, unless I can dig the data out of my old screenies, I've probably passed that point already. Some things we can keep track of, sure. But we're not going to go all apogame M-H/Sullla on everybody.]

While I'm thinking of it, we need to discuss our feelings about how we intend to handle diplomacy once we start making contacts. We should probably try to get a group chat in the next few days. I'm sure there are other things that could be discussed, but off the cuff these come to mind.

How do we feel about naps? Who do we want to offer them to? Do we want to attach any conditions? Under what conditions would we consider violating a nap? (hopefully NEVER unless conditions of the NAP are violated by another civ first) etc.

Also, what level of duplicity and subterfuge are we willing to use in negotiations?

None of this needs to be set in stone, and we would of course be able to violate our own rules on a case by case basis, but we should agree on a general policy.

Also, we've never set an "agression level" I'm assuming that we're not going to want to war with anyone for a long while unless 1) They start it or 2) We're completely certian of victory.

Well, I'm not suggesting we go to Sulla level and track everything... I know I don't have that kind of time even if I wanted to.

Leaving work. If I wake up later, I'll check in.

Screwed up big time guys, I, every once in a while, go to each of our companions sub forums, and exit out. This stops the annoying bold letters. I offer the same offer I posted at the IT thread. If you want me to leave because it seems suspicious, I leave the game.
