chat with Yaz ...

Quote:
  • me: yaz - did you get the pbem2 game?
and are we having fun yet?
  • Yaz: I don't know if I'm having fun yet, you certainly seem to be though :P
  • me: I'm not sure either
  • me: yaz - just wanted to check that the funny banter in the public thread wasn't too close to the bone
  • Yaz: haha no I love it smile
If I go too far though let me know
  • me: nah - just stay in character and we can both laugh about it
so - do you have horses?
  • Yaz: No I live in an apartment, can't even keep dogs here.
  • me: lolo
    I have dogs - 2 of them
  • Yaz: That may explain your image smile
  • me: at CFC - yeah - that is Dixon

chat with Krill ...

Quote:
  • Krill: Warrior rush and choke?
  • me: settle land dispute
we both wanted the same city location and couldn't agree to terms
it will be his immortals v my protective archers
  • Krill: That close to each other?
  • me: yes
  • Krill: wow
go choke his horse and no problem...
Hopefully you have copper near by...
  • me: I am not even sure if he has horses
but if he does - they are on the other side of our island - his city is on a 1 tile wide section so I would have to kill his city to choke his horses
  • Krill: Shit man, that is tight.
Do you know if he has seafood or not? I suppose if he does then there is little opint in choking him...
  • me: yeah - either way, it will be fun
  • Krill: Yup, we are all going to rethink our tactics. Should be fun smile
  • me: the Sirian doctrine will get a very good workout on this map
  • Krill: I don;t even know what that is...
  • me: good
  • Krill: just a great big SoD of ships?
  • me: forget I even mentioned it lol
  • Krill: OK, all forgotten...
  • me: yeah - right
  • me: Yaz is having fun with his posts
  • Krill: Yeah...Should be fun watching how this turns out, at least from my island smile Go easy on him tongue
  • me: right - immortals v protective archers is really fair
    or is he a young'n?
  • Krill: Depends if he has horse. He might not have many land tiles for one to be on tongue
  • me: actually - I was rolling up a few maps like this and there were no horses at all
bet t-hawk put one in for him
  • Krill: Meh, age doesn;t matter, but I don;t think he is as experienced as anyone else in the game. Maybe a bit more so than Squareleg, but not like he has been in any great scraps before
    Well, that would be entertaining
You'd have a big advantage if there were no horses
  • me: totally
    but only on the defensive
  • Krill: no flanking cats though
  • me: cats?
how long do you think this stand off will last?
  • Krill: depends when you plant the city between you
if it is on a hill
    a one tile choke opint
and can get culture into it
  • me: yes, yes, yes and yes
it will depend on all of that
  • Krill: If you have none and he has horses, you are probably screwed tongue
  • me: well - if it go out in a blaze of glory, then so be it
(there should be an 'is' in there somewhere)
  • Krill: Don't be so pessimistic. You could always try a quick galley raid and drop archers off the other side of his cap to paralyze it tongue
  • me: true - I knew I picked up sailing for a reason smile

And this is why you should never ever trust what Krill says to you ...

Here is Krill, a good civ player that reads widely, claiming not to know about the Sirian doctrine. That is total BS and is pure Krill-mislead-opponents-while-helping-them.

Even I know what the Sirian Doctrine is. shhh And if I didn't, I could Google it!

Tactically, what are you going to do next? I'd probably take your Warrior and either park him on that hill choke-point, or even next to Yaz's capital if you're feeling chancy. What's your army like, and what do you expect to get over the next, oh, dozen turns or so? Just Archers? Do you have a Barracks already (since you are Aggressive)?

All very good questions. At the moment - I don't have very many good answers. I am pretty sure that Yaz and I are equally strong (as in, not very smile).

also chatted to Dreylin ...

Quote:
  • me: have you met yaz?
    have you met me?
  • Dreylin: no, but he indicated he'd met you
  • me: did he mention that I declared on him?
  • Dreylin: yep
  • me: just wondering how you found out
  • Dreylin: chatting with Yaz
  • me: well - we got into a little border dispute and I decided to settle it on the field of battle
  • Dreylin: Toku diplo...
    smile
  • me: I don't think I will die
I think he is going to rely on his UU
but protective archers will be a bugger to kill smile
  • Dreylin: fails to remember his Civ
  • me: cyrus
  • Dreylin: that was also my thought
  • me: immortals
  • Dreylin: Ah, Immortal
    that's got to be a 50/50 proposition
    Im vs. PRO archer
  • me: and if I can find copper ... <grin>
  • Dreylin: well yeah
So have you lined up all your tech trades already like everyone else seems to have done?
  • me: not really
    Krill is doing a krill
but I haven't talked to Darrell much
    or to you
  • Dreylin: indeed
  • me: at all - if I remember correctly
  • Dreylin: I think so
I was stunned when I gopt my first trade proposal before the first turn had been played
  • me: we should have had some rule discussion
  • Dreylin: and have been mostly dodging them ever since!
  • me: who is playing tokugawa here?
  • Dreylin: well, we did say that pre-meet diplo was allowed
I think that it's a mistake to get tied into a particular research path before I've seen the map....
from what I've heard, several people have tied themselves into particular paths
  • me: true - had a crazy plan to chop out TGLighthouse
had to shelve it with cyrus war
  • Dreylin: just Stonehenge then ... wink
  • me: that too

Whipped a settler for 2 pop turn before last. He is heading towards my 2nd city site? No, it is not over near Cyrus ... that is my third site but I actually want some anti-horse (gee, I hope he doesn't have horses) protection in place.

Meet Square Leg and we exchanged 'hellos'.

Will provide some pics next turn.

  • 2nd city next turn
  • worker out of capital
  • 1st worker chopping
  • no action from Yaz but that cannot continue for long

Does anyone have Writing yet? Can your new friend do some espionage for you and see if Yaz has Horses? It looks like it might be hard to take Persepolis since it is on a hill, even if you have Axemen or something.

... take Persepolis ... ??? This war isn't about killing Yaz ... it is about taking that jungle bound city spot. First things first smile.
