Can anyone else hear the sound of Gaspar swallowing down the bile as he typed out a friendly response?  Poor guy, I'd love him to rage back. But, his response is measured and appropriate, given our shenanigans.
Maybe he detected outright hostility? This is a full diplo game, and we seem to be asking for the bare minimum. Maybe we should direct him to a bullet-pointed format for messages so as to avoid confusion?

Once the land between us is fully scouted, we would be perfectly willing to agree to a settling agreement and an NAP, that way we can direct our expansion and aggression in other directions. We still haven't met any other teams. And we are in agreement that we will let each other know when we meet another team, and also to help facilitate a meeting between TEAM/Pirates and any newly found opponents.
I suspect our diplo style is quite a bit different than any other teams you will meet. But given the quality of the teams in this game, wouldn't you rather deal with us than someone who wastes your time and won't bother with such blunt assessments? We realize Nakor is a natural born equivocator--we will try not to hold that against you.

Just had a long, off the record chat with Luddite.
Anyway, he says he will try to take on more of the diplo responsibilities and will convince his team that we should come to a border agreement, NAP each other, and go screw with everybody else.
Ideally, I would like to see something like this happen. Our two teams team up with Darrell, and then destroy 7, followed by Parkin. Then we and Pirates back stab Darrell and destroy them. And then we duel to the death with Pirates. Anyway, that is ambitious, but it might be the beginnings of a long term plan.

If they're serious about that, it will be very nice to have a partner in crime to help us cause trouble for the teams we don't want be nice to. And I assume that is everyone else.

That general plan sounds good. Would it be too early to make such an agreement, ie. do we risk tying ourselves into something we're not really interested in down the road? We will need very good border negotiations at all times.

Welcome to diplomacy in civ games.
It's the only smart thing to do. And out of the three smart teams we're the best ones to team up with, if they think we won't back stab because we are the most likely one to fall apart yet not make any stupid mistakes.
