Were you building wealth in that last screenshot? What were you researching at the end?

I did build wealth for a while, to get to calendar.
I was researching CoL when we finished, 4 turns out. Wanted to grab a religion, cause i was sick of building obelisks. Mainly, at the end, i was trying to expand like hell and plop down cottages. I figured if I coudl get my happy cap up and work cottages, I might be able to survive.
Final pics:
Empire:
6 cities, no waiting!! 10 cottages, but more coming.
Military:
Just now getting copper online
Builds:
Tech tree:
4 sustainable turns to CoL, so that ain't bad.
Completed: PBEM 34g (W), 36 , 35 , 5o, 34s, 5p, 42, 48 and PB 9, 18, 27, 57
Current: PB 52. Boudicca of Maya

Nice. You were certainly behind on expansion but your tech rate was quite good.
Last-turn breakeven rates
Me: 65
You: 64
Mackotisub: 29
Novice: last seen at 28ish, ?
Serdoa: about 20, he said?
I am not totally sure as I didn't have an exact plan, but I think I would have gotten CoL t67, i.e. right before you. It looked pretty tight, but I was completing the great library next turn and could then focus more on commerce to get the religion. Would have been pure luck if I did get it. I wasn't expecting to win that race.

wow. I had no idea. Well, a financial civ will do that. Actually, i think I was at 59 @ 60%. The religion would have been really nice, but courts were nice, too.
Honestly, though... seeing the GLib fall and then losing CoL? that would have sucked.
Seemed ike a fun game.

actually, stick just razed one my cities in 42 He has a talent for that....
it was fun. I will say - other civs seemed to expand much more aggressively. Novice, i think it was, had a city right near our gems!! he clearly walked a ways to get the food for it. I think a lesson learned might have been to do that and backfill - espeically with awesome war chariots on defense, which only fear spears.

I don't think you should learn from that example, that city was my main mistake this game. (Apart from my leader pick.)
Of course, with Fin and War Chariots it could have worked out better for you than it did for me. But I think Seven's thread holds more valuable lessons.
I have to run.

Oh, absolutely. The moment I saw that city, and I saw it landed Hinduism, I knew that you had made a huge mistake with your farmer's gambit and it needed to be punished. And me going for it was absolutely the correct decision. Unfortunately, I should have committed more to the attack, instead of another settler (to settle a weakish site!) I should have gotten 2 more WCs out. Alternatively, I should have gotten my first WC out earlier, I delayed the Horses for the Deer.
But those bad decisions, a good gamble by you to commit everything to the defence, and bad warfighting decisions (1 WC vs 2 defending city warriors) was fairly low odds on my part.
