Religious victory condition is so lame. Release vanilla CIV had its flaws, but they were mostly fixed and the expansions would have made the game even better, but instead Alexman took Sorens work and took a giant dump on it from the MP PoV. Religious VC should never have been introduced in civ 4.
Although, if you want to read a somewhat absurd game, PBEM17 ended up as an RVC (well, after everyone conceded to novice et al when they built the Mids and GLH on an islands map because Rego couldn't be arsed to use IND for anything, but played on as a shadow game because the map was kind of interesting).
Rusten, I think we've all got games that gave us PTSD. The CFCDG was mine.

Microplan is in teh second post and here.
tl;dr, worker>warrior*2, finish at size 4>worker via 1 pop slave eot26, double settler eot30 and eot34. BW eot24, Wheel eot33-ish, Pottery around eot39 dependent on costs and new cities. Capital could complete worker eot38, naturally, or could whip the worker to dump the overflow into a granary. Or could get a third worker instead of the second settler, or...whatever.

Just logged in to end turn. DZ, OT4E, OH and Cairo have 30 land tiles between them and the maximum one player has is 8 tiles. And as I type this superdeath ended turn without settling!
This is interesting. At least we know the starts on mirrored.

Nothing to add. Just commenting to prove I'm tracking.
Thanks for linking your sim.

Looks like Agriculture is back on the menu. This is fine IMO, Pottery shouldn't bet later than T45 maximum and those extra turns allow the worker set up for the granary chop and shoving down a cottage every two turns without harming the other two cities.
City 2 to the NE, City 3 to the SE? So probably worth sending the scout NW-N or SE-SE next turn.

Wow, the river that won't end. And you said this map would be barren.
That's flood plains 1s and/or 1se of the corn too I believe.
Agree with scout NW-N and then start circling clockwise a turn or two later for city spots. Something like NE-N --> NW-NE --> clockwise or similar depending on scouted terrain.
Add resource bubbles in the future. Helps for all devices, but especially mobile.
edit: Scout SE and then circling counter-clockwise is fine too.

I didn't say it would be barren, I said it would be brown: wet wheat is brown but we don't complain about that! (This is why the health resources were modified in the map script, I think given another 20 turns out scouting and things might look a bit different).
Sorry about resource bubbles, for some reason every time I log in they aren't on, despite putting them on. Is there a way to make them automatically stay on?
I agree on the flood plains around the corn. I'm not sure which location is likely to be better as the second city, but the way the worker micro is, one worker moves of the plains hill south of the capital and does two chops then wanders to a new city, and the second worker moves from the capital to do two chops then go the other new city. It's trivial to chop the forests in whichever direction puts the workers closest to where they need to be, with that river still there and the corn so close to the capital.
I'm hopeful we can get 2 turns in today, but we'll see. I'm not joking about getting this game caught up with PB41.

I think the resource bubbles toggle off when you open WB. So every time you edit your sim you'll need to turn them on again.
IDK which spot is more likely for 2nd city. In general I would always lean towards whichever area has the possibility for a natural trade connection. SE does not have that, but OTOH it has proven land quality already (corn and flood plains). However, finding river pigs/corn would be the nuts and beat out dry corn. Hopefully you can scout both areas without losing the scout. Looking at it that way settling SE is already proven viable so you could send the warrior there knowing beforehand that a city can be settled. The N/NE is unknown and would need to be scouted before committing. For that reason I'd go north first.
IIRC you plan for a very quick 3rd city after 2nd, so the trade connection matters a little less, but it's still free commerce.

I agree that NE for trade connection works better in terms of commerce, but Wheel also completes between the two settler builds: so is SE is second, the few extra turns allows some of the road to be built so commerce loss would be lesser, but we're not giving up trade route commerce for no reason.

Wouldn't you rather spend those turns chopping rather than roading, though? If we can get connection naturally that is much better.
I didn't mean ignoring the free commerce. I just meant that since city #3 comes so soon after city #2 then it's not the end of the world if only city #3 is connected to capital.
