...we can keep following it, and should be fine! Morgan Wrote:I read the wrong turn plan so the workers haven't roaded the pig at smiths, they need to chop the current plains forest then road the oinks. Sorry about that.Don't worry about it - it's great to have someone who can play the turn at times like these! No serious harm was done (even within the context of what in the end is still only a game!) and at this point, the best thing to do is pretend it didn't happen: Just keep following the existing plan! The road on the pigs was a bonus, not strictly needed for the development of the city or the empire. And as noted above, the capital build switch isn't a problem either; all it costs us in the end is one extra turn of whip anger, and I don't think that will have any actual impact on the city.
Well, we got more problems. HV did not build a theater, it built a library. This is my fault as much as anyones because I didn't check the sheet. I figured it had been set to build whatever it was supposed to build on Morgan's log in, as it didn't ask me for a next build there, and as we were building cottages, it seemed to make sense, so now, we'll need a new plan for HV. Sorry, I totally screwed this one up.
I set it to the barracks this turn. I don't know if the library will be able to be substituted for the aqueduct. They're close in hammers, so I hope so. Why the hell didn't I check this one, I don't know. EDIT: It's way, way worse than that. I just noticed avoid growth was on. I have NO IDEA how this happened, but the city is still size 5, so the entire plan is null and void now. It must have happened some time after the 4 whip of the grocer. I don't know if the idiot governor set this (do they ever set this?), or how it got turned on. At one point i remember telling you we had something like enough food to grow twice. In any case, we've lost 3 pop for nothing now. I should have noticed this earlier (I did mention something a couple turns back, but thought it was just a calculation error) I'm sure I would have caught it if I'd been paying attention to details the last week while I was on vacation, but obviously, I wasnt. I've failed the team big time. Can you come up with another plan at this point?

Some stuff will obviously have to be sacrificed, since we've lost 135 hammers to this debacle. I would say sacrifice the military. We need those settlers.
I've finished the turn other than I'll need a build at HV and I've not whipped the cap yet as I'm waiting to make sure we get the stone.

On HV: Eek! I actually noticed that the city was smaller than it should be last time I saw a screenie, but because I didn't know what tiles it had been working, I just assumed something weird had been done, and recreated the microplan on the basis of the new data. The library can't be used in place of the aqueduct - exactly the wrong hammer cost, unfortunately - but I don't think it'll hurt that much, and can be used for other things. As for whatever setting it was that kept the city at size 5, I ... uh ... don't even know what that is or does. What is it?
Regardless, please don't say you've "failed the team big time" just because you weren't on top of things at all times in all ways. The civ will recover and be okay. Even if that weren't true, there are lots of worse things than some imaginary Mayans losing some production at one of their cities. Examples of things that are much, much worse: 1) Experiencing stress and unhappines in one's real life over things imaginary Mayans are doing 2) Anyone on the team ever feeling it's better to do nothing (or be quiet or whatever) than to participate and risk messing things up 3) Etc. I think you get the idea. It's okay. We're doing well. And it's a game. I'll be happy to create a new plan for HV if I can get its vitals. What I need to know: - Amount of food already "in the box" - Number of hammers already invested in the library It would also help to know the number of turns of whip unhappiness remaining when you mouse over the whip button. (I know it's a very large number, but I'd like to know precisely). For what it's worth, my suspicion is that we haven't lost as many hammers as you think. (Certainly a bunch, of course, but I'm not excessively worried.) And hey, congratulations on landing the Econ Merchant, guys! Note: I'm going to be away for several hours at least, trying the least excessive Extreme Measures I can think of to get my computer working properly again. I'll do what I can to get back online later this evening.
The item in question that kept the city from growing is a button called "Avoid Growth". It's underneath "emphasize commerce" It keeps the city from growing when the box is full. The food box stays maxed forever, but the city never grows. It's theoretical use it to keep a city from growing into unhappiness. Think of it as an extreme emphasize hammers.
Having read the above, you can probably guess that the Food Box is at30/30. The library has 15 hammers. The whip anger is 4 unhappy and 46 turns. Unless I hear otherwise, I'll put the hammers into the barracks. If the turn should actually roll without you being able to be on, I'll put a turn into the theater.

Can that be right? Not many turns ago, you said the city was at 38/30, I think (on the turn when I thought it should have been size 6, but saw it was size 5). Is the city doing something crazy like that, building up huge overflows of food in the box without growing, or is it literally just sitting at 30 food, causing all the excess to disappear into the void ... or has it been enforcing its own "stop growth" tile assignments like unimproved desert hills, or what? I understood that "avoid growth" existed, but not the mechanics of what it does. (Can't test it right now; when and if I can get civ running on my computer again, I'll let you know.) Regardless, thanks for the info on HV; putting hammers into the barracks is almost certainly fine. I'll try and assemble a plan if I'm able to bring my computer back up to something remotely resembling full functionality in time. [EDIT: And when I say, "you said the city was at 38/30," I meant "you posted a picture that actually SHOWED the city at 38/30: here.]
Yes, It's literally cast 14 X 3 + 8 or thereabouts food into the void. Thats how it works. It fills the box, then just throws the food away thereafter, hence why it's such a disaster.
In better news, we have the stone. I'm not exactly sure what Fierias did. It does not exactly match where you have it, as it grows in 2 not 3, but I still think we're ok. I'll check where it's at next turn and adjust tiles accordingly. EDIT: Responding to your edit, yes, I know, I remember that. At the time I thought it was odd, and perhaps there was just some error in your calculations. My best guess now is just that that 38/30 thing caused the governor to have some kind of meltdown bug and set avoid growth. More Edit: Fierias shows the exact # of hammers in the university your plan says it should, so we're all good there.

If someone can check in-game and confirm that it's literally at 30/30, that would be helpful - I'm having trouble reconciling that with the picture from turn 131 in the post to which you linked. I can see that "Avoid Growth" is selected in that image now that I know where to look. Curious. Quote:In better news, we have the stone. I'm not exactly sure what Fierias did. Note I don't have time to do any of this, of course..... [EDIT: Editing to respond to your edit to respond to my.... It had already been set the turn before. If not, the city would have been size 6 on that turn. If I remember my notes correctly.....] [MORE EDITS!: Same amount of food in the box and stuff too? It just shows a different growth time? Do the health caps match?]
RE: Fierias, the hammers exactly match up, so it's not an issue.
RE: HV I posted a picture of it earlier. It says 30/30 on food. EDIT: I'll just get you more pictures. Hang on.
