[SPOILER] Darius of Ottomans - Vets - Krill

Move HA and Spear as directed. Changed capital from worker to Cat (2). Changed '10 Long Years', '10 Lords a Leaping', '10 Something else' (what ever that 10 city is called) that is size 4 to a worker.

What you talkin' 'bout, their best song is most certainly Dancing Days! smile

Heretic.

OK, so just played t74. I have been meaning to post some pics from t73...but the last 3 turns have been 1 turn/day rate, so you never know what is around the corner, so I'll update with new pics.

However, here is the gist of the situation.

I'm now researching at around 110 base bpt at 100%, and losing around 40 gpt. I make 70 gpt at max tax. That is around 62% on the slider, which isn't bad for a civ with 11 cities, and only the capital above size 5. I'm currently pushing out as many workers as I can, up to 11 at eot t74...should have 14 by eot t76.

I'm about to research Fued, and should have it fully researched by eot t80, then I'm planning on going back for some other techs like Calendar for extra happy, but I'm still considering civics and if I should beeline GP.

Now, I think I can triple revolt to HR/Vassalage/OR. Why would I want to do this? CG2 LB, Guerrilla 2 LB...goodbye any fear from WC, so I could sally forth with 2 LB and a spear, and settle that gold tile next to Cyneheard. I would also find it much easier to nominally hold the 2 city front next to sunrise, and could push north for that rice to give me all 3 grains and fish resources. CG1 is good, and LB are solid units for this phase of the game, but CG2 just makes it so much harder to dent them, and makes it easier for me to slave out an army because none of my cities need a barracks and can focus on stuff like libs and court houses (CoL is a 2 turn tech after Fued, I have both optional prerequisites, CS would only be a 5 turn tech if that after CoL).

This brings up the point of Bureau versus Fued. Both are high maintenance, but I'm Org so -50% civic cost. Bureau affects one city, which admittedly is my best city, but I can grow every city to size 13 no problems with just the health I have no and HR. Vassalage would save me a barracks in most of my "junk" cities (I don't have any on this map, but I mean my nominally none military cities) and allow me to survive with a few less units, or really take advantage of promotions to start pissing off sunrise and trying to get units past his front city. Bureau requires that I spend at least 7 turns teching and a further 4 saving, so 11, possibly 12 turns more. I'd have to either delay a revolt that long or eat another turn of anarchy.

I'm probably going to hold the revolt until Fued is in and take Vassalage. Hopefully I start to scare people with it. FWIW, I'd value OR/Vas over Bureau/Theo here because I also need to spread missionaries and don;t want to invest in monasteries atm. I made the shrine last turn as well...

Tech, I figure I need Calendar and IW at the very least afterwards, but after that I'm considering the need for Drama for some extra culture via theatres, CoL for the cheap court houses, so reduced maintenance and extra ep, MC/Machinery for forges and pushing onto Knights, Pikes and Mercantilism and an earlier gunpowder date. CS I really don't care about, don't exactly need to farm unirrigated tiles and don't have workers for the farm>cottage ideal growth strategy.

I lied, here are the screenshots from last turn. I don;t have F8, but basically it shows I have about 25% more land than sunrise, the nearest competitor has, and am about 3-5 pop behind Whosit, the new leader there.

'All my love', 'thank you' and 'the ocean'!! They are just stupid stupid city names. It took me days to come up with the original names and you just flip them without a second thought.

Shame. Shame on you.

After ending turn, now #1 in pop, 19.5% to Cyneheards' 18%, and still first in land area by 2ish percent.

Now, keep pumping those workers for another 5 turns, then get out half dozen 5XP LB and then expand another 5 or so cities.

That is some true MP city placement in the north, very nicely done Krill. thumbsup Maximize the "safe" terrain as much as possible. Evidently you're not too worried about enemy galleys? lol
