I guess there's a reason it was called the "Miracle of Dunkirk" not the "totally expected orderly retreat from Dunkirk" .

Well looks like some questions popped up while I was gone but Sareln answered them nicely . Today was a pretty slow day - I'm thinking 72 hours is somewhat overkill, as I exchanged almost no messages today, and judging by the lack of forum activity, I can't be the only one... And there's still 20 hours to go until turns need to be in, so perhaps we should consider jumping to 48 sooner than planned. Just thinking aloud here and I realize it's in a spot where no other players can actually read it . Well I finally formulated a response to Nakor, as I had no earthly clue what to say to him honestly:
scooter Wrote:Nakor,
I'm thinking about this. I just don't like the idea of taking Belgium with a fleet, as that leaves me really tied down and in an awkward position.. My army will get stuck in England, and he'd be stuck there in the Spring of 02 as well because I"d have no fleets on the water (which is also quite dangerous for England with Germany in Denmark and all). I suppose I may have no choice unless I want hostilities from you, but I hope you can understand why I'm not quite jumping up and down in excitement about the idea of taking Belgium with a fleet. It's getting late where I live, so I'll sleep on it.

Nakor's response:
Nakor Wrote:Hey Scooter,
I understand your problem.
Of course we can talk about it and I'm looking forward to your suggestion.
Cheers,
Nakor
Yeah I need to figure out how to deal with this. I feel bad blatantly lying again, but I'd also not like to broadcast to him that I'm definitely allied with Germany - though that wouldn't be the end of the world exactly. I think I may just tell him "sorry, I really need to convoy, so I'm going to convoy" and see what he says. Thinking it over...

Nakor caught me on chat (should've stayed invisible for awhile), and maybe I'm just not cutthroat enough, but I couldn't get myself to lie to him and promise I was going into Belgium. I told him I was convoying, and he asked me to promise (and make him believe it) that I would go into Belgium, and I told him I was making no promises. I admit he's a hard guy to lie to directly by chat as he's a very pleasant person to talk to. Perhaps I should've just sucked it up and promised to go to Belgium . See the thing is, I don't mind going to Belgium, but I don't want want him to have a free pass to take Portugal...
I'll probably flip a coin on my move... I've got one I'm leaning towards. I'm also debating on whether I should tell you all once I decide, or if I should just make up my mind, submit it, and then see who guesses it correctly .

Well...I'm going to bet on Brest by convoy. And Norway, but I don't think you're really debating that one.
Only...9 hours to find out if I'm right? Unless you take pity on the poor lurkers?

Don't tell I think the lurker threads are great for following the thought process of the players, but a little excitement/surprise can't hurt.

FWIW, I'm 90% decided on which I'm going with, so it'll take a change in the diplomatic winds to affect it . So here's the options:
1) Convoy -> Brest
2) Convoy -> Belgium
3) Convoy -> Picardy
4) Eng -> Mao
So far we have Mardoc guessing #1.
And yes, North Sea -> Norway is a given, so it's just a matter of what I do from that pesky English Channel.

You know, on further thought, I agree with Gustaran. You can tell us tonight why you picked what you did, but this way I don't have to worry about spoilers, cause I can't spoil what I don't know!
I just have to work on my patience, but PBEM's have taught me that anyway, I hope.
