Yes, I did.

Hm, may be. Will need to check.

Edit. Top 5 cities also supports your ranking hypothesis.

Leveraging the Exp trait to knock out an impressive early road network.

EDIT: Of course, about 70 turns on we will be laughing out of the other side of our face with a stack of keshiks parked next to our as yet unnamed capital.

I suggest we scout NE-N next. If we don't see anything exciting eastwards, this lets us then go NW onto a hill, and then SW-SW onto the jungle, and NW onto the hill for good visibility over the west. If we do want to continue east after NE-N, we can go NE onto the hill and open all the same tiles we would have with NE-NE, with the exception of the two tiles close to the capital, which will be opened by border pop anyway.

Why do you want to scout to the west? We are not settling those jungles anytime soon. East seems more attractive to me...

Edit: and don't forget to log out.

The jungle to the north of the lake is the northernmost jungle, then its forests. In fact, it's already forests on that latitude. I think the north shore of the lake is more or less the boundary of the jungle belt. And there is coast to the west, with potential fish and use of lighthousable Great Lake. All that doesn't mean that I want to scout the west, but going NE-N leaves us that option without damaging the option of scouting the east.

Edit: Damn laptop didn't switch off went told to. You can always call me up on the phone or send an SMS, in the unlikely event this happens again. Fun fact for our anglophone readers, in Russia text messages are referred to as SMS, sometimes in a russified fashion — esemeski.

The question is where our scout will go... I really really want to look if there is some food to the east of our capital: we will have our first settler before we have a unit to look for seafood. On the other hand, our second city most probably goes to this cow / wet corn place anyway.

Edit: We will need to consider at least moving a city 1N. It deprives it of fresh water but gives two additional forests in the first ring.

2SW is fine for the scout.

With slowcheetah yet to settle, nobody is landlocked, none of the three Exp leaders are working a plains hill to grab the Exp bonus for the first worker, only two civs have an irrigable crop or floodplain in the first circle.

I played the turn in the morning but had no time to grab and post pictures. I moved the scout 1NW (couldn't move 2SW as the lake was on the way) and spotted ivory.
Bacchus, if you have time in the morning, please, move the scout somewhere like NE-NW and end turn. Grab pictures and post here if possible. I want to scout the territory arond the corn for a better dotmap for our second city. We will need another city in the north to share this corn and hook up ivory, so we should plan accordingly.
Metagming note: there is definitely something I don't understand about this game. All players have coastal starts and yet no one opted to choose Rome. Instead, they preferred nations like Ottomans, Mongols and Babilonians. Really, what the hell...

When I said 2SW, I meant 2SE, thinking you want to check for seafood RIGHT NOW. It's actually something we could have done, then going north and hooking around to scout out the corn before the settler is out. But nevermind, I'll log in over lunch and take the turn; now there is ivory, we can definitely give the east a rest for a while.
