The third chop is not necessary either way. The third chop would be nice overflow for a worker to 3-4 turn it. I am only third chopping if we settle the corn, otherwise we road.
OF worker -> Granary whip into warrior -> settler sounds like a plan, although sluggish short turn, probably optimal long run.
Expansive was 25% for workers in BTS, no?

Calendar over monarchy because there will no doubt be more such resources north, it is necessary to scout, however. If we don't find another plantation resource, then monarchy.

Do you really think we'd be able to get a religion?

Your turn estimates are pretty much correct.

I want to see how superdeath reacts to being next to us. If SD/Cairo are deterred from forward settling us, then we get more land and dont need to invade. If they are pushing at us, I consider those our property, and the praetorian as land assessors.

Not very many pre-game thoughts, especially not at this time of night.

Should we be worried?

I think I ought to change my answer.

Re: expansive, huh, you're right, it was 25% in base BTS. I thought it was 50%. Good to know.

Re: religion, I think we should go for it. We're Expansive with a Fishing start and good starting techs, meaning that in the early turns, we have a good snowball and good research power. We need the happy, we need the culture, and the OR boost is very good. Plus if we miss it, we still have the road open to Monotheism, Oracle, and Monarchy. So thinking Agriculture -> Pottery -> Mysticism -> Polytheism.

The other option is to go for AH to hook up the Ivory. That gets us to 6 happy in the capital, so we can run a Size 5 -> 2 pop whip Worker -> Size 3 whip cycle and grow like crazy on the 2 crabs 1 sheep. Then fiddle with the city micro and tile sharing with the corn city to the west to ensure that food goes into growth, not foodhammers.

Though again, spilling out my biases, this is definitely influenced by the last RB game I played being PBEM 54, where I got Hinduism ~T34 Quick/T50 normal with four opponents. I don't know what the meta is these days for that. Plus I really, really like Organized Religion to whip out buildings, so I might be overweighting it.

(Also, reread my PBEM 54 thing, and yeah, we need Sailing to settler that offshore)

Re: dotmap, I'll sleep on it and we definitely should discuss this further, but I'm convincing myself that Copper City 2 -> crank out Axes at Size 2 should be our next move. That way we free up the other more productive cities to build Workers, Settlers, and Granaries. Plus we can start working on that every-important Heroic Epic Axe.

Re: praets, good, we're on the same page. Use praets to deter aggressive plants while we landgrab, build a stack o' death later.

Note to self: whip hammers after the first pop are 20 hammers. Check city growth mechanics and the exact Granary filling food mechanics. Start hammering out micro in the morning. Also start thinking about whether chop->worker is better, or no chop->2 pop whip Granary to get the whipping fun faster is better.

What should we name our Workers? We need to start differentiating them to make micro/conversations make sense.

Though of course, we already have Hunting so hooking up Copper means no cheap MP Warriors... hmm. Not enough to sway my opinion yet, but will have to keep in mind.

Have been futzing around with the dotmap, and removed some of your dots. I have no idea if that's proper etiquette or not. Will discuss in a bit.

You can do whatever you want with the dots smile

I would be more sure on going for religion if I could figure out better what techs everyone was going for.
The three-whip cycle was effectively my plan, connecting the ivory, eventually rushing for construction to mix in a few elephants and cats with our praets.

I find org rel to be good but a bit overvalued, since unless you get a great prophet and get automatic spread, the short-term cost of missionaries is not worth the long-run savings.

I think you should know that barb warriors spawn only at turn 40 now, and that scouts are more important for defense against barb animals than a warrior. I would like a lurker to confirm the turn 40 bit if possible.

If we orient micro around this, we could immediately start on settler #2 after settler #1 and go for the copper right after, with yet another chop and a 2pop whip, followed by a warrior and another worker.

Worker naming schemes could indeed be Napoleon's generals. Let's start with Mareschal Ney.

Excellent dotmap! I prefer the red dot for the northern city.

I am not sure with what to do with the scout next. This depends entirely on the location of the next city.
