Seems a bit odd. Since most of your warriors are Redshirts, the enemies are the Klingons. Why not starfleet officers?

I imagine there was quite a lot of overlap in job activities for some of the randier medieval popes.

In TOS the Klingons were enemies, but by TNG/DS9 they were allied.

Klingons in general are way more badass than Federation pansies. That plus Klingons get way cooler looking warships than the Federation did and most Starfleet officers are anoying douchbags. (Kirk and Scotty being the exceptions)

(actually, naming them after Klingons just happened to be the first thing that popped into my mind.)

Well sure, but by then the Redshirt's weren't redshirts any more.

Okay i've heard of the klingon, but what are the redshirts?

arn't red shirts the people that play background officers that always die.

Meaning if they are in a red shirt but, not a major charecter you can safely assume that they will be dead by the end of the show. or gone in some fashion

Yes. On the original series a redshirt was brought along on every away mission, and ended up dead. Being in a redshirt was basically a sign that you were expendable.

In the later series, they changed the colour system. Redshirts became the commanders. Goldshirts, who were previously the commanders, became the new redshirts.
