Well, I decided to rush Rushmore and the NE...I need to spend about 1100 gold next turn to buy tanks, the turn after perhaps only 500, and I'm making 2100 gpt out of GA. I set research to MilSci, due in 26 with only a few specs and no Rep. I'll research it in 1 when I have a little bit of gold saved up. sunrise should get RR in 6 at +91 gpt, 30% science, so I expect him to get it in about 4. This should be fun...

T150 Well, every city finished a build this turn. 7 Tanks, 3 marines, 2 airships and a Public Transport so my new IW city doesn't starve to death. Finished Mil Sci in 1 @ +580gpt and +1426bpt, and still have over 1700g in the bank. Could research Flight in 3 and still have enough gold to rush everything I wanted...decisions decisions.
Also, I broke 2k bpt outside a GA. sunrise is currently making +320gpt at max tax and is due RR in 8, so, perhaps still 4 more turns until he finishes that tech?

Let's see...
Knocked out sunrises 2 cuir sentries at the top and bottom of my land, and set up to knock out his central sentry under 2 rifles next turn using 4 airships and tanks.
Got a GG for my troubles (gotta love the GW...need 60 more XP for my third GG, which means only 30 after adjustments, right?)
Then popped out a GS at the end of my turn for a possible third GA whenever I want.
And moved up a Destroyer to piss off Whosit for some more XP.
And I'm at +1430bpt, +576gpt @70% science with 2179 gold in the bag, 9 tanks, 1 marine and one Drydock (for 6 move TR for hitting from the FoW) and Flight is due in 2, Radio in 3 after that with a slight increase in the slider. And the gold will hold out for that amount of time.
Looking back, I was kinda hopeful at reaching 1400gpt at max tax, and more realistically hitting 1k gpt. Well, I got that wrong...

It's been fun ever since I decided I'd risk going for Lib. Planning is the fun, winning is vindication.
Beating sunrise up again is just bullying though.

Way too drunk to post anything useful, but...
killed sunrises central senty stack about 90 turns late, lost a tank at 80.5 odds though. Still got 2tanks with enough XP to get commando. Now at 19/60 XP Should up that to at least 30/60 before next attack.
up to 20 tanks total.
Popped a GA becuase couldn't see a reason to save it.
dowm to 507 gold, but next turn can save gold and get Flight in 1 and only have 1 tanik to rush.
no civic switches.
everyone sucks at tech, sunrise up to 70% and -89 gpt, RR due in 2.He is paying more attention to unit placement than I am thouhg.

sunrise shoved a load of HA into his nearest coastal city. I positioned a boatload of marines to go gain some nice XP and start farming my next GG (as is one of my destroyers Mwahahaha). Yes, I'm a bastard. I also positioned tanks to hit the city in case I decided to go with that. Finished Flight eot at 20% and saved 1900+ gold.
Up to 23 tanks, I think. Next turn should have about 35ish and the attack should be beginning. Paratroopers are going to be built in forward positions though. Should be fun. Pictures up later.

I lied. 26 tanks and about 35 next turn. In 4 turns should be at around 70? sunrise is due RR next turn so he shouldn't have the ability to stop me destroying him in short order IMO. Shouldn't have time to get MG out. At 20/60 for the third GG.

Thing is it wasn't a true farmers gambit - I always had a decent reaction force to flank off cats as needed and strong defenders that neither opponent could get odds on, and then I had the ability to draft muskets while everyone else was getting knights and pikes. If I'd have been in Bureaucracy instead of vassalage/NH and CS instead of Slavery then I think what you said would be true.
