All units with Medic II (Priests and Grigori Medics, and a few heroes) can cast the spell Cure Disease, which removes the Diseased promotion, as well as Withered and Plagued and maybe something else.

I'd love to get my hands on Stygian guards, but I don't know if I'll be able to run Octopus Overlords in the near future. Sorry to disturb that much, but i have questions:
Why is worth more to run ashlei weil more than OO, i realy like there temples there units and everithing they offer. I think at least for expansion and new city just force a temple of owerlords and you are seted. Sorry my question are noobish but i just want to know a point of view.
mackoti - it all depends on the situation, whether OO or AV is the better choice. OO works wonderfully next to the water - Tsunami is one of the best spells in the game, water walking is handy, and so on. But if you're not next to the water, Stygians might as well just be champions and Cultists might as well be Swordsmen - their special abilities don't matter anymore when you're not near the ocean.
Ashen Veil's spells work anywhere. Eventually AV gets better units, too. And running Ashen Veil gives the civic Sacrifice the Weak, which makes each population only cost one food/turn instead of two - really powerful. It's a more general choice, good in many situations instead of being great in one. Now, for why Ilios thinks Ashen Veil's a better choice now, today, than OO - well, it's his thread ![]()

Just asked because Stygians looks very great on paper with 5 strenght 2 from unholy combat(what that exacly mean???) and they can use metals and cost less than a vampire i think(a vampire is 50% more) so its this guard efectiv againts vamps or not?
please forgive me i started playing just 2 weaks ago and i like to know things. mackoti Wrote:Just asked because Stygians looks very great on paper with 5 strenght 2 from unholy combat(what that exacly mean???) and they can use metals and cost less than a vampire i think(a vampire is 50% more) so its this guard efectiv againts vamps or not? Stygian Guards are a pretty effective unit against vampires. They're demons, so they are immune to fear from spectres (also immune to Poison, Unholy, and Death damage - the last immunity makes skeletons and spectres considerably weaker against them). They have March so they can heal if they win, Water Walking so they can stand on water tiles and be immune to counterattack, or take shortcuts across lakes and inlets. Their biggest disadvantage also stems from their demon race: they can't be Hasted. Mobility is often key in FfH, and Stygs will always be potentially a step slower than equivalent living units. Edit: to answer specifically the question about unholy damage: it's a specific type of damage, which just adds normally against most units. It is ineffective against demons (so strength drops to 5), and half strength against undead (so strength=6). So if a Stygian guard (5+2 unholy) attacks a skeleton (2+1 death), the final strength after applying resistances is 6 vs. 2. |
