Updated: All players can now email turns to the tracker, rbpbem19@gmail.com.
Well, after signing up to replace Tatan in PBEM 10 and losing in some sort of record 0 turns, I'd still like to try a PBEM. Would there be anyone else interested? My Civ-fu isn't very strong, but eh, how else will I learn? I'm a Monarch level player without any CIV MP experience, but I'd be happy to share with a teammate as well.

Not a signup since I'm in too many games at the moment, but I wonder if this got missed by some people? For what it's worth though, if you are a Monarch level player, I wouldn't consider you a "newbie" civ player at all! Many people have participated in PBEMs that are Noble-Prince level players. I wonder if you'd be better off just proposing a standard PBEM. Even if someone better than you joins, it's the best way to learn.
You don't really need MP experience either. PBEMs play out more like SP with human diplo than MP honestly.

I'd play a BTS PBEM. I used to be a Immortal/aspiring deity player, but only with limited strategies. Also, I don't have any kind of multiplayer experience in BTS (don't know any strategies, timing, etc). I'd be willing to give this a go!

Yeah, I'm getting back into Civ, but the "I'm a Monarch player" kind of intimidated me, myself. I don't think I have developed the killer instinct necessary to play at things higher than Noble or Prince, myself. I'm too much of a builder at heart. <.<
If there's enough interest and badgering, I might be convinced to pry myself away from the shiny toys in FFH for the sake of playing against not-computers, though. I'd want a coach (dedicated) lurker, of course... Or, well, I can jump on the next FFH PBEM, assuming there is one.
(EDIT: I think I actually mostly got less interested in Civ because I'm so buildery I inevitably ended up doing a spaceship victory.)

You never know until you start a thread. If I weren't involved in so much already, I'd be in - but I know the last FFH PBEM turned away a couple people due to overpopulation.

I'd be willing to try and give this a go, if you'd be interested in NTT or even making it a CTON/CTON-lite type of game? I can consistently play a turn a day but in my only other MP Civ game (PB3) the diplo just became too much before real life intervened and took me out of the game.
I know that there will be a weekend in August that I will likely have to be OOP, but other than that I shouldn't have any issues.
Is that the sort of game you'd be interested in? How about you Ichabod & Ranamar?
You can get a look at a t-bone by looking up the bulls ass but I'd rather take the butcher's word for it.

PB3 was pretty much the death of tech trading at RB, I think PB3 and PBEM2 are the last two games to be started without NTT on. In a normal PBEM setting, with between 4-6 players, and tech trading off, I think you will find the diplo surprisingly manageable, even in a non-CTON setting.
Not that I'm saying there's no value in a CTON, just saying I wouldn't avoid diplo based on time constraints per se.
I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?

Thanks for the bump, scooter. Hum, well maybe I should edit out the (bie)...but scooter, you're probably right. Your own games would be a good example of how solid play backed with good diplo beats better Civ, weaker human interactions.
Mr. Nice Guy, I'd be all up for NTT, if you, Ichabod, and Ranamar are all interested. CTON seems a little much, but maybe like that other PBEM (forget the number) where only in-game communication is permitted? I'm flexible on the subject.
I'm completely open to votes, naturally, but I think a nice naturalish map with barbs might make for a fun game. Maybe something like Ice_Age narrow continents with the starts balanced? That tends to put everyone on a central winding landmass but also generates interesting islands.

I'd be willing to dedlurk someone provided they updated the thread regularly with pictures
EDIT: Ranamar, you need some killer instinct?
Though I'll dedlurk anyone who wants it. Wouldn't mind taking a look up the bull's ass if you want me MNG.

If anyone is actually interested in a tech trading game, you could actually play the game as a no diplomacy game, so no chat, no email, nothing sent in game, except you can propose deals using in game diplomacy only. That would eliminate tech blocs, even if it would perhaps make the game a bit "less interesting".
